Super Bowl 50 Predictions

Cam Newton VS Peyton Manning. Which quarterback hoists the Lombardi and wins the number 50 liquidated in gold.

Posted By Chris Ransom, Jesse Lucas, Jason Bantle, Oren Shiri, and Tanya Holmes on February 2, 2016

1. Carolina Panthers 17-1-0
Versus
1. Denver Broncos 14-4-0

Tanya Holmes's Pick

Carolina opened up as a 3 point favorite. Then they were a 4 point favorite the next day. Carolina got so much betting action that the line increased from -3 to -6 in a week. I'm taking the points at +6 and expect Denver to cover.

Last year we had Marshawn Lynch show up to Super Bowl Media Day just so he wouldn't get fined. Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman showed up to Super Bowl 50 Media Day with a Nacho Libre mask. Aqib Talib one upped him by showing off some gold bling and then proceeded to humiliating a NFL media reporter in an epic wrap battle.

Here are my Super Bowl 50 prop bets. Carolina calls tails and wins the coin toss and defers to Denver so they can get the ball in the second half. The Broncos go 3 and out on their first drive. Cam Newton gets the ball and throws an interception to someone on this secondary on the first drive for the Panthers. Denver manages to only get 3 points off a field goal after having the ball back as Denver wins the who scores first prop bet. Greg Olsen will give the Panthers a 7-3 lead later in the first quarter as Olsen scores the first touchdown of this game. First penalty will be a holding penalty on Carolina. First sack will be made Carolina Panthers left end Charles Johnson. I like Denver to get penalized less than Carolina in my final prop bet.

Carolina will lead 7-3 after one quarter. Denver will score 10 unanswered in the second quarter before Cam Newton puts together a heroic 2 minute drive to give the Panthers a 14-13 lead at halftime.

I was originally going to take Carolina 17-13 in a defensive game. I had the Panthers getting a field goal to go up 17-13 in the third quarter with both teams keeping things that close on defense. I'll say Peyton Manning hooks up with Owen Daniels in the final seconds to give Denver a 20-17 lead with 16 seconds left as Peyton Manning wins Super Bowl MVP in my Super Bowl MVP prop bet. My final prop bet is that Denver wins.

Oren Shiri's Pick

I posted my Super Bowl 50 Preview. You can check it out.

Okay, let's get back to the game itself. The Broncos will come out all gunho but before you know it by middle of the second quarter the Panthers defense will take over and Manning just won't be the same. He will get pushed and knocked a few times before the half ends. At half it will seem rather tight, but the Panthers just started my halftime prediction is 17-10.

In the second half its now time for Cam and company to go to work. Bringing more confidence to the Panthers defense as well. Just imagine all the fun their having. I don't want to give you all the details but. Cam Newton will be the MVP and the Panthers will win 38-16.

Jesse Lucas's Pick

I was originally going to take Carolina. There was a tipping point around last Wednesday where Chris Ransom said everyone was taking Carolina and that sort of convinced me to switch. Yesterday I found out Peyton Manning defeated Auburn 30-29 in his final College Football win in the 1997 SEC Championship game. Here we are 20 years after that and now Peyton may defeat an Auburn legend in Cam Newton before retiring into the sunset. I am going with Denver by a point with that exact same score 30-29. If you think the Panthers cannot score 29 go back to Super Bowl 38 where they lost 32-29 to my Patriots.

Jason Bantle's Pick

11. Will the announcers mention that Kubiak was Elway's backup during the broadcast? No.

12. What color will the liquid be that is poured on the winning coach? Purple.

13. Who will the Super Bowl MVP mention first? God.

14. Which song will Coldplay play first during the halftime show? Adventure of a Lifetime.

21. Broncos win the coin toss.

34. Will either backup QB take a snap in the game? No.

35. Total successful field goals 3.5 - UNDER.

36. Longest successful field goal in the game 44.5 - OVER.

37. Will there be any missed extra points? No missed extra points.

38. Over or under 6 sacks. Under 5.5 sacks in the game total.

Margin of Victory

39. Panthers by 1-6 points 3/1 odds

40. Super Bowl 50 - Odds to Win MVP Cam Newton 5/7 odds

The Broncos will play with a lot of heart. Especially their defense. I think both defenses will be competitive in the first half.

The NFL and officials will do everything in their power to make sure Denver wins. That will make it close.

Carolina gets 27 thanks to two field goals, Jonathan Stewart's rushing touchdown, Cam Newton, and 1 passing touchdown from Newton to Olsen. Peyton will throw two touchdowns, one each to Sanders and Thomas. C.J. Anderson will have a rushing touchdown. At the end of teh day we see a 27-21 game where it results in a push with the spread at -6. Carolina simply has too much working in their favor right now.

Chris Ransom's Pick

We are partnering with Brand Sins to help them promote their awesome videos which criticize companies. Maybe if Draft Utopia gets big enough they will make a video about us.

Brand Sins did make a Super Bowl 50 video that we will play today. They've also added 3-4 new weekly videos for us to archive at a later point for next season so we certainly have enough Brand Sins videos for the next three years as far as material goes as we currently have 36 videos yet to play plus they will add more options in the offseason leading up to September which will give us even more options for 2016 and beyond when they continue to add videos during the offseason.

Why the Carolina Panthers Will Win: Cam Newton and this offense has so much momentum right now. You see how middle linebacker Luke Kuechly and field cornerback Josh Norman are playing and you feel like you are just sold on Carolina since they have the two best individual players on defense to win this game.

I was originally going to pick Carolina. Now I'm not so sure who to pick with so much betting action on Carolina.

Denver's safeties got injured in the AFC Title Game. If T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart don't play

Why the Denver Broncos Will Win: Peyton Manning had a historical season in 2013-2014 when he defeated the Patriots in the 2014 AFC Championship game. Welker and Julius Thomas were on that team. All five starters from that offensive line are gone and Denver never replaced those guys.

Manning has been historically bad in 2015, but he had 222 passing yards, no passing touchdowns, and no interceptions against a weak Pittsburgh Steelers secondary that is suspect in coverage. Manning did much better against the Patriots. Now he has to hope fortune is on his side as the Broncos face the Carolina Panthers two years after Manning fumbled a safety on the first play of the game.

Denver has two guards in Evan Mathis and Louis Vasquez who are great run blockers. These guys winning in the trenches against Star Lotuleilei and Kawaan Short is key since Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly are beasts at linebacker. A.J. Klein was great at left outside linebacker, but Shaq Thompson is finally healthy now. I don't think Klein has to worry about being a backup. Klein showed he was a solid starter this season, and I could see Thompson moving over to the weak side when Davis retires. Carolina's linebackers and this underrated secondary with Josh Norman, Roman Harper, and Kurt Coleman will test Peyton Manning, but I get this strange feeling Manning passes with flying colors once again.

DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller unleashed everything on Tom Brady and I look for them to do the same against Cam Newton. Aqib Talib will do well in coverage against whoever Cam Newton's #1 receiver ends up being. Same could be said for Chris Harris. T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart have to be healthy if the Broncos want to stop Greg Olsen.

Malik Jackson must win the matchup against Carolina's left guard. Carolina's right guard should have an advantage with Derek Wolfe getting injured in the 2016 AFC Championship Game.

Super Bowl 50 Prop Bets: Throughout this section you will see prop bets as well as a Super Bowl 50 game recap of what I think will happen. It's tails and Denver wins the coin toss and defers to the second half. Denver gets a field goal after a 3 and out and scores first as Carolina fumbles it on their second drive after both teams go a drive without scoring with Von Miller recovering the fumble so Denver wins the turnover bet. Tanya got that part about Denver leading 3-0 right and winning the who scores first prop bet, but it will be Ted Ginn Jr. who beats Ohio State corner Bradley Roby in coverage in the slot to put Carolina up 7-3 with Ginn Jr. winning the first touchdown bet. I'm gonna say Corey Brown gets the next touchdown on another blown play by Roby in the second quarter to make it a 14-3 game making conspiracy theorists think somehow Brutus Buckeye is in cahoots with the Panthers mascot in their plan to ruin what may be Peyton Manning's last career NFL game.

Carolina will lead 14-9 at halftime. Cam Newton will have 134 passing yards and 38 rushing yards with 182 total yards in the first half. Peyton Manning will have only 45 passing yards in the first half and this game will look extremely one-sided with people wondering why Carolina isn't up big. The holding penalty plus the false start penalty will take Carolina out of field goal range on two drives and a Graham Gano missed field goal that would give Carolina the edge on the point spread with the spread now at -6 will be the biggest reason why Denver is still in this one score game.

Carolina will have 5 penalties for 50 yards including a false start, offsides, holding penalty, and two pass interference calls on Nacho Libre Norman which both put Denver in field goal position meaning that the Broncos got 6 of their 9 points off of penalties by Carolina. The other will be a field goal off of a fumble recovery so a lot of mistakes by Carolina will keep this close early even though Cam will dominate Peyton in the first half.

The holding penalty, the false start, and a missed field goal by Graham Gano leading up to halftime will keep the Panthers from putting this game away. Carolina will be in Denver territory five times in the first half, but a holding penalty by Michael Oher, "The Blindside" and a false start by their left guard who thinks Malik Jackson went offsides will keep the Panthers from scoring and force them to punt. Then you add a missed field goal with 3 seconds left in the first half when the spread is Panthers -6 with the score 14-9 will make you wonder if in fact the NFL is really fixed.

Time for Random Prop Bet 1. Who will make you want to burn your ears off during the Super Bowl halftime show. You're gonna have Coldplay, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars. Bruno Mars wasn't bad in Super Bowl 48, but he wasn't great either. Beyonce won't screw this up. I did love when Coldplay was announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer, but with Beyonce and Bruno Mars showing up now, one of them will spike Coldplay's drinks with roofies before the halftime show just like in the movie The Hangover and it will result in an awful performance by Coldplay.

At halftime Peyton Manning will give a motivational speech like Tim Tebow against Oklahoma where he takes a Tim Tebow mail order bride and yells Omaha while smashing the crash dummies head into the locker room walls. Peyton will look like a bigger asshole then the guy who tried to punch Geno Smith back in Jets training camp. Unlike the Jets, the Broncos will respond since they are a pressure team.

The Broncos will put up a much better fight in the second half. Andre Caldwell will begin the second half with a kickoff return for a touchdown which makes it a 16-14 game. After that we will have a defensive fourth quarter. I'm taking Doritos over Coke and Budweiser for most Super Bowl commercials aired in Random Prop Bet 2. You'll have to keep reading to find out who wins Prop Bet 3 which involves Orange, Powder Blue, Purple, Red, Yellow, or Green Gatorade.

Who is officiating this game?: Clete Blakeman is calling this game. Carolina is 2-2 in games officiated by Blakeman. Denver is 5-0 in games officiated by Blakeman.

Prediction: The Panthers enter as a 6 point favorite. The minimum bet is $200 dollars, the maximum bet is $240 dollars with the average gambler betting around $220 dollars on this game. There over or under is 45.5 with 80 percent of the public taking Carolina. There about 110,000 bets from people in Vegas. There are also 3.8 million bets on Super Bowl 50 with underground sportsbooks with 65 percent of undrground action on Carolina. 62 percent is going with the over. 32 plus 18 is 50 Elway won his first Super Bowl in Super Bowl 32. Luke Kuechly - Peyton Manning's 9 year Super Bowl drought since Super Bowl 41 also adds up 50.

Cam Newton will score very early in the fourth quarter to make it a 21-16 game with less than a minute into the fourth quarter with 14:25 left to play. Denver will score a touchdown with 35 seconds left to take a lead and Josh Norman will be called with a third pass interference penalty on Denver's final drive after the colonel known as Emmanuel Sanders drops a pass on fourth down because Norman is grabbing him excessively on the play. That will give Denver another drive where Peyton Manning has a 3rd and goal situation with 39 seconds left thanks to a one-handed catch by Demaryius Thomas where the ball hits his knee without touching the ground. This will be known as the Hackysack reception. Cody Latimer the 6-4 215 lb beast out of Indiana will make a touchdown catch similar to Santonio Holmes in Super Bowl 43 to put Denver up 22-21 before they miss the two point conversion.

Denver will not only use the Orange Gatorade, but they will also Gatorade John Elway as well as Gary Kubiak. Talk about an Orange Crush for a Gatorade celebration. Roger Goodell hands Manning the Lombardi Trophy and Cody Latimer Super Bowl MVP as head coach Gary Kubiak and GM John Elway are both trounced in Gatorade.

Peyton can retire and smoke weed in the Super Bowl 50 parade in Denver since marijuana is legal in Colorado. Goodell cannot suspend him if he retires. Peyton Manning won't resort to that though since he's a class act. Peyton should also do a Papa John's commercial following Super Bowl 50 where John Elway steals a slice of Pizza from Joe Montana before getting arrested by Peyton Manning in a cop outfit since Peyton is known as The Sheriff. Then Peyton and Papa John go better pizza better Super Bowl Champions Papa John's while Elway is in a police car as the commercial ends.

Okay maybe I went overboard with Peyton smoking weed during the Super Bowl parade or John Elway getting arrested in a Papa John's commercial as a gag. That still doesn't change my opinion that the Broncos pull off a close one in the end after trailing the entire game.

Final Score Broncos 22 Panthers 21
