2017 Senior Bowl: Day 2 Recap

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Posted on: 1/25/2017.

The North team took practice first. Cooper Kupp dominated today he was a little rusty on day 1, but had 2 touchdowns despite being covered on two plays as well during day 1. Kupp would probably be a first round pick if it wasn't for the fact that he is 6-1 197 lbs. He's not as big as we anticipated, but still as good as advertised on tape. Cooper Kupp has continued to dominate throughout the day. If he has a strong day 3 and has that leading up to the game, I could see Kupp maybe sneaking into the late first round.

Zay Jones had another solid day. Jones didn't stand out like he did in the first day though.

Trent Taylor was rusty on day 1, but he dominated on day 2 getting multiple touchdowns. Taylor got by King, Lewis, and Langley to get touchdowns.

Brendan Langley and Desmond King got beat on tape again. Langley contested two passes inteded for Kupp while King continued to get beat. Rasul Douglas dominated. If he has another strong day, he may sneak into the first round.

Adam Bisnowaty and Zach Banner contiinued to struggle on day 2. Terrell Basham has been much on day 2 after struggling on day 1.

Terrell Basham dominated on day 2. He should be a day 2 pick in either the second or third round. I see him as a third round pick.

Nate Peterman looked better today. Sefo Liufau struggled throwing today despite dominating at the weigh in and starting in early. All of these guys look like day 3 picks.

The South team practiced following an intense session by the North team. Forrest Lamp injured his ankle yesterday after entering the day as a first round prospect and my top Senior Bowl prospect. Isaac Asiata was also unable to practice due to injuries today.

O.J. Howard had another dominant day. Howard has dominated so far. John Elway spoke with him last night. He probably won't make it out of the top 20. Evan Engram was much better on day 2 after a day 1 where he didn't stand out much. Gerald Everett didn't dominate on day 2 like he did on day 1. He should still be a top 4 tight end drafted.

Ethan Pocic rebounded against Tanzel Smart after the two got into a fight yesterday. Jessamen Dunker dominated on day 2 for Tennessee State. I'm not sure if he's done enough to move into the first four rounds though. Conor McDermott also did better after a horrible day 1. Justin Senior dominated on day 2 after looking average on day 1.

Defensive tackles Carlos Watkins and Montravius Adams showed why they were first round defensive tackles on Day 1 of Senior Bowl practices. They did more of the same on day 2.

Matt Dayes had another strong day. If he didn't have such a poor weigh in I'd put him in my first round. I think Matt Dayes has real NFL potential. Pumphrey did much better on day 2 after a sloppy day 1. Same could be said for Kareem Hunt and Corely Clement.

Cameron Sutton had a sloppy day 1. Sutton did much better on day 2. Tre'Davious White made lots of plays at cornerback who stood out. That's something White did on day 1 as well. White corrected his issues in press coverage.

Hasson Reddick stood out as an edge rusher for Temple. Evan Engram rebounded on day 2 and validated why he's my top tight end after O.J. Howard.

Obi Menifawu dominated the first two days in Mobile. Obi Menifawu could jump Jabrill Peppers if he dominates on day 3 of the 2017 Senior Bowl.

Bucknell left tackle Julie'n Davenport dominated on day 2 after struggling on day 1. He should be a second round pick. Antonio Garcia looked better as well. I see Garcia as more of a second to third round pick.

John Johnson did a good job dropping back into coverage. Johnson has improved his speed. If he can have a strong day 3 he can move into day 2 consideration.

After two days of the Senior Bowl, the biggest thing I have learned is that O.J. Howard, Carlos Watkins, Montravius Adams, and Tre'Davious White. Those four players are the only four players that have cemented their status in the first round.
