2017 NFL Pro Day Recaps

March 28, 2017

Florida Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/28/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Florida's Pro Day. Jarrad Davis dominated Florida's Pro Day and showed why he's a first round pick. Teez Tabor did worse than he did at the NFL Combine today and may fall to the third round. Quincy Wilson showed tremendous athleticism, but I still see a second round prospect. Marcus Maye looked good and is gaining momentum he should be a solid starter. David Sharpe and Alex Anzalone looked okay, but didn't stand out.

Florida State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/28/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Florida State's Pro Day. Dalvin Cook at running back and Demarcus Walker at defensive end both dominated. Both Florida State prospects look like first round picks. Roderick Johnson was okay, but Kareem Are looked sluggish to the point where he may go undrafted.

Texas Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/28/2017

D'Onta Foreman ran a 4.41 40-time even at 247 lbs. I think Foreman can challenge Alvin Kamara and Joe Mixon in the tier 2 of running backs that get drafted in the second round since he had an awesome Pro Day.

March 27, 2017

Houston Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/27/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Houston's Pro Day. Tyus Bowser dominated Houston's Pro Day to the point where he warrants late first round consideration. Howard Wilson also validated why he could be a top 100 pick at cornerback.

Villanova Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/27/2017

Seventeen of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Villanova's Pro Day. Left tackle Brad Seaton dominated and now has individual workouts with 6 of those NFL teams. Tanoh Kpassagnon was okay, but he didn't stand out like Brad Seaton.

March 24, 2017

Arizona Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/24/2017

Seventeen of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Arizona's Pro Day. Paul Magloire Jr. had a fantastic Pro Day. I think there is a chance he could get picked in the late third round now.

California Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/24/2017

Davis Webb dominated California's Pro Day. Webb said that 12 different NFL teams have first round grades on him, but I'm calling shenanigans since Webb was a backup to Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech until he transferred to California in 2016. If Davis Webb is a first round quarterback then Jared Goff gets to play in the Pro Bowl in 2018.

Michigan Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/24/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Michigan's Pro Day. Taco Charlton and Chris Wormley dominated. Wormley has a chance to sneak into the first round with his strong Senior Bowl and Pro Day. You also have to look at how Jabrill Peppers struggled in coverage at his Pro Day. Even Bill Belichick realizes that Peppers is more flash than substance. Peppers is a late second rounder.

March 23, 2017

East Carolina Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/23/2017

Seventeen of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at East Carolina's Pro Day. Zay Jones had a fantastic Pro Day. He didn't have a remarkable Pro Day like Clemson's Mike Williams, but he had a great Pro Day and I think he's in the discussion to challenge Corey Davis to be the second receiver drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Eastern Washington Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/23/2017

Eastern Washington's Pro Day was today. Cooper Kupp is going to have a private workout on Tuesday.

Missouri Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/23/2017

Seventeen of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Missouri's Pro Day. Charles Harris redeemed himself at Missouri's Pro Day. Harris has also accepted an invite to the 2017 NFL Draft and the Baltimore Ravens who pick at 16 have a first round grade on him.

Notre Dame Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Notre Damee's Pro Day. John Lynch turned down the chance to go to Stanford and Ohio State's Pro Days to watch Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer sling it. Kizer dominated his Pro Day and has already conducted private team workouts with the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Los Angeles Chargers. Cleveland was not as impressed with Kizer as the 49ers have been. I can see the 49ers taking Kizer at 2 now.

Ohio State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/23/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Ohio State's Pro Day. Malik Hooker my top prospect on Ohio State did not work out, but spoke with teams and he is expected to go in the top 10. Cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley dominated. Middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan impressed and pushed himself into the conversation with Jarrad Davis and Zach Cunningham to be the second middle linebacker drafted behind Reuben Foster. Center Pat Elflein worked out at left guard, center, and right guard at Ohio State's Pro Day and dominated. Minnesota has scheduled a private workout with Pat Elflein. While I had a third round grade on him, now I have a second round grade on Elflein again. Wide receivers Curtis Samuel and Noah Brown had a strong days as well. Ohio State has about 7 prospects that have ability to be NFL starters.

San Diego State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/23/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at San Diego State's Pro Day. Running back Donnell Pumphrey, left guard Nico Siragusa, and cornerback Damontae Kazee all boosted their stocks. Kazee can start at nickel corner right away despite his size. Sirgausa did enough to jump Dorian Johnson as the #6 guard in this draft. Kazee worked out with the Dallas Cowboys and could push Anthony Brown for a nickel cornerback job if the Cowboys took him.

Stanford Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/23/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Stanford's Pro Day. Solomon Thomas dominated to the point where he is now in top 10 consideration. The best scheme fits for Solomon Thomas are the San Francisco 49ers at 2 and the New Orleans Saints at 11. He worked out with the Bengals defensive line coach in positional drills so Cincinnati Bengals plus he has a workout with the Carolina Panthers who hold the eighth pick in the draft. Solomon Thomas will be a very good 4-3 left end, but anyone who drafts him as a 4-3 right end who goes up against left tackles is making a huge mistake since he faced right tackles at Stanford despite destroying them on tape. Running back Christian McCaffrey also dominated his Pro Day to the point where he is going in the top 20. I think the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos could both be in the market for a running back. Left guard Johnny Caspers did well at center and showed the versatility to play left guard, center, or right guard.

Utah Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Utah's Pro Day. Hunter Dimick did 38 reps on the bench press and ran a 4.69 40-time. Dimick showed why the NFL Scouting Combine screwed up by not giving him an invite. Also Garrett Bolles had an awesome Pro Day and while I still have a second round grade on him he moved up from 53 to 47 on my draft board. Bolles is someone I can see getting drafted in the first round now, but that's only due to the demand of the offensive tackle position. I still have Cam Robinson as my top offensive tackle though and this draft is so deep with edge guys that I have both Robinson and Bolles both outside my top 40 even though I can see both offensive tackles going in the first round.

March 22, 2017

Ashland Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

Sixteen of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Ashland's Pro Day. Adam Shaheen impressed NFL teams and improved on his lousy NFL Combine. Twelve of the sixteen teams have private workouts with Shaheen scheduled and six of those teams are bringing in Shaheen for a second interview with their teams. Shaheen really helped himself, but its hard to say if he'd done enough to be a top 5 tight end.

Connecticut Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

Nineteen of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Connecticut's Pro Day. Obi Melifonwu was a pure safety at the Senior Bowl. He showed the size, versatility, and coverage to be a cornerback. At Connecticut's Pro Day he lined up as an outside linebacker in coverage drills and dominated. Obi improved on his 4.40 40-time from the NFL Combine and ran a 4.34 40-time. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, and New England Patriots who don't pick until 72 all have private workouts with Obi Melifonwu scheduled. There is no question that the Browns should take Obi at 33, but I don't think he will slip to that pick. Noel Thomas also ran a 4.47 40-time and dominated in the wide receiver drills.

Duke Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

Sixteen of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Duke's Pro Day. Cornerback Breon Borders ran a 4.46 40-time and did awesome in coverage drills validating that he is in fact a combine snub. Safety Corbin McCarthy also dominated Duke's Pro Day and has a private workout with the Bengals scheduled. McCarthy is a late round guy to keep an eye on.

Michigan State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Michigan State's Pro Day. Malik McDowell bombed interviews at the 2017 NFL Combine and admitted he struggled with listening to coaches sometimes at Michigan State's Pro Day. He fell to Minnesota at 52 in the 7 round mock we did for the 300th episode on our podcast. McDowell has first round talent, but maturity issues may have NFL teams looking the other way. Minnesota is one of the teams that is showing a lot of interest in McDowell and they don't pick until 52. Another team that showed interest in McDowell was the Houston Texans. Montae Nicholson did not work out due to shoulder surgery. Middle linebacker Riley Bullough did 29 reps on the bench press and looked like his 2015 form before injuries got the best of him.

Mississippi State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

Twenty seven of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Mississippi State's Pro Day. Wide receiver Fred Ross did not drop a single pass at Mississippi State's Pro Day. That was an issue for Ross, but now that he's corrected that he boosted his stock. Offensive tackle Justin Senior looked sluggish. Middle linebacker Ritchie Brown who did not get a combine invite killed his stock with a 4.72 40-time.

Pittsburgh Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Pittsburgh's Pro Day. Adam Bisnowaty had a good Pro Day. Bisnowaty has future starter ability, but is a project. James Conner did not choose to improve on his 4.6 40-time from the combine, but dominated as a pass catcher. Conner could be a steal, but will most likely be a day 3 pick. Quarterback Nate Peterman is probably a backup like Tom Savage. He has a good, but not great arm, but has outstanding decision making. You can argue that Peterman is the poor mans Derek Carr. Dorian Johnson was my second best guard behind Dan Feeney all year dating back to July until we moved Forrest Lamp over from our offensive tackle to guard rankings. That caused Johnson to drop to 3, but Johnson tore his hamstring in Pittsburgh's bowl win and still hasn't recovered from the injury. Johnson could fall to day 3 like his former teammate T.J. Clemmings who was a first to second round prospect that slipped to the fourth round due to injuries. Johnson is now my sixth best guard thanks to this injury, but a team may get a steal on day 3 with Johnson.

USC Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/22/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at USC's Pro Day. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster had a good Pro Day. He has number one wide receiver ability and should be an option for San Francisco at 34. Adoree Jackson has nickel cornerback ability and had a strong Pro Day. USC left tackle Chad Wheeler moved to center at USC's Pro Day and may project as an NFL center. Left guard Damien Mama ran a 5.75 40-time which was worse than his Combine which puts him in serious jeopardy of getting drafted. Right tackle Zach Banner is a day 3 pick, but the best of the worst when examining USC's offensive linemen.

March 21, 2017

North Carolina Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/21/2017

Twenty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at North Carolina's Pro Day. Mitchell Trubisky only completed 52/61 passes which is the worst Pro Day performance from a first round quarterback prospect in the past five years. Yet Trubisky is still getting first round hype. The Houston Texans who pick at 25 and the Kansas City Chiefs who pick at 27 both have individual workouts scheduled with him. Wide receiver Ryan Switzer dominated North Carolina's Pro Day and could potentially be a day 2 pick now. Everyone else struggled at North Carolina's Pro Day and looks like a backup.

UCLA Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/21/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at UCLA's Pro Day. Takkarist McKinley received mixed reviews with some teams loving his Pro Day workouts while other teams hated them. Fabian Moreau got injured at UCLA's Pro Day too. Left tackle Conor McDermott and free safety Randall Goforth are smaller then expected. It turns out McDermott is only 6-foot-7 according to one team after being 6-8 on our combine sheet and Randall Goforth a late round safety that I'm very high on only weighed in at 5-9 at UCLA's Pro Day after I had him listed at 5-11 and that may cause Goforth to be an undrafted prospect.

March 20, 2017

North Carolina State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/20/2017

Twenty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at North Carolina State's Pro Day. Josh Jones cemented himself as a second round talent and a top 50 prospect after a dominant Pro Day. Tampa Bay was the one team that showed the most interest in North Carolina State's prospect. Tampa Bay could very well take Josh Jones for depth at 50. Matt Dayes disappointed at North Carolina State's Pro Day and now looks like a day 3 pick.

Syracuse Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/20/2017

Eight of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Syracuse's Pro Day. New England, Buffalo, San Francisco, and Kansas City all scheduled individual workouts with Amba Etta-Tawo after he dominated Syracuse's Pro Day with a 4.35 40-time.

Toledo Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/20/2017

Twenty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Toledo's Pro Day. Running back Kareem Hunt, tight end Michael Roberts, and left tackle Storm Norton all impressed at Toledo's Pro Day. Notre Dame Ohio wide receiver Mitchel Shegos did 18 reps on the bench press and had a very strong Pro Day as well.

March 16, 2017

Clemson Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/16/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Clemson's Pro Day. The Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots were the only teams not in attendance. Deshaun Watson threw 8 incomplete passes. He did not stand out enough to boost his stock and looked worse at his Pro Day then he did at the NFL Combine. He has trouble throwing to his left and may have Rick Mirer syndrome meaning he does better throwing to his right then he does to his left. Wide receiver Mike Williams ran a 4.50 40-time and did a great job running routes and catching the football. Williams is likely going to be the first receiver picked now. Carlos Watkins ran a 4.98 40-time and did 22 reps on the bench press at 312 lbs. Some scouts have questions about his motor, but he dominated the Senior Bowl and validated himself as a first round talent. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, and Houston Texans all met with Watkins. I doubt Watson or Watkins goes to the Cleveland Browns at 12 now, but the Detroit Lions should consider Watkins at 21 if they are looking to replace Ndamukong Suh plus pairing him up with A'Shawn Robinson gives the Lions a deadly dynamic duo at defensive tackle. Jordan Leggett impressed at his Pro Day. He may jump Bucky Hodges as my #5 tight end now. Ben Boulware ran a bad 40 time of 4.79, but looked outstanding in coverage drills. He's probably a third round pick that can develop into an immediate starter. Cordrea Tankersley had mixed reviews at his Pro Day, but one team he impressed was the Indianapolis Colts who pick at 15.

Oregon Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/16/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Oregon's Pro Day. Nobody stood out though and everyone on this years Oregon football team eligible for the 2017 NFL Draft is a backup at best.

Penn State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/16/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Penn State's Pro Day. Wide receiver Chris Godwin demonstrated incredible route running. General Managers Ozzie Newsome of the Baltimore Ravens, Reggie McKenzie of the Oakland Raiders, and Kevin Colbert of the Pittsburgh Steelers all scheduled individual workouts with Godwin. It's highly unlikely that Godwin slips out of the first two rounds now.

Vanderbilt Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/16/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Vanderbilt's Pro Day. It was quite disappointing that both Zach Cunningham and Will Holden did not run the 40's again, but Cunningham dominated in the other drills today and made me look past that. I think you can make a case for him jumping Deshaun Watson on draft boards now.

March 15, 2017

Arkansas Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/15/2017

Twenty nine of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Arkansas's Pro Day. The receivers stood out. Other guys like left tackle Dan Skipper and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. showed why they are backups at best.

Charlotte Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/15/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Charlotte's Pro Day. It was quite a turnout. Larry Ogunjobi dominated his Pro Day and now has a chance to get drafted in the second or third round after showing his intangibles. At the very worst he's a high end rotational defensive tackle for years to come in the NFL.

Virginia Tech Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/15/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Virginia Tech's Pro Day. Quarterback Jerod Evans completed 47/47 throws with a perfect day. He did not speak with the media after his Pro Day. Both the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants are inviting Evans to an individual workout. Isaiah Ford improved on his 40 time running a 4.51 after running a 4.62 at the 2017 NFL Combine. Bucky Hodges is okay. Scouts have a problem with him not high pointing the football even though he's my fifth best tight end.

Wisconsin Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/15/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Wisconsin's Pro Day. Both T.J. Watt and Vince Biegel dominated. Both the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers have individual workouts with those pass rushers planed. Ryan Ramczyk did not work out at Wisconsin's Pro Day leading me to believe that Cam Robinson should be the first tackle taken. The Broncos and Giants remain interested in Ramczyk and Green Bay Packers General Manager Ted Thompson spoke with Ramczyk today.

March 14, 2017

Kansas Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/14/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Kansas State's Pro Day. Those teams came to see linebacker Elijah Lee and defensive end Jordan Willis who projects better as an outside linebacker in the NFL. There are 30 teams who have scheduled individual workouts with Willis. One team that has taken a lot of interest in Willis is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's hard to say that Willis won't go in the first round. Remember Karl Joseph had 30 teams work him out after dominating West Virginia's Pro Day and the Pro Day is a numbers game more than anything else. The more teams you impress at your Pro Day the earlier you get drafted.

Nebraska Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/14/2017

Twenty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Nebraska's Pro Day. Safety Nathan Gerry had an awesome Pro Day. While he didn't have the best Senior Bowl he had a terrific Pro Day. He solidified himself as a developmental safety and a future starter within a year by 2018 or 2019 at the very latest. Cethan Carter was good at Nebrska's Pro Day and has some ability as a #2 tight end.

Northwestern Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/14/2017

Thirty of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Northwestern's Pro Day. Wide receiver Austin Carr who got snubbed of a 2017 NFL Combine Invite dominated Northwestern's Pro Day displaying excellent route running. Unfortunately his 4.61 40 time was only slightly better than Cooper Kupp's so he won't get picked before the third round.

Youngstown State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/14/2017

Derek Rivers dominated Youngstown State's Pro Day. Nine teams visited Youngstown State's Pro Day. Five teams came away impressed with Derek Rivers. Those teams were the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is now Pittsburgh's third meeting with the Youngstown State pass rusher and the second encounter between Joey Porter their linebacker coach and Rivers.

March 13, 2017

Kansas Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/13/2017

Nine of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Kansas's Pro Day. Safety Fish Smithson and offensive lineman D'Andre Banks stood out. Smithson has private workouts with the Detroit Lions, New York Giants, and Seattle Seahawks and while he has potential to get start right away he will likely get drafted as a backup for depth to start his career. D'Andre Banks played all 5 positions on Kansas's offensive line at 6-2 303 lbs doing 22 reps on the bench press. I cannot find any tape on Banks and have tried, but the more I hear about Banks, the more I am intrigued by his ability.

Montana Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/13/2017

Montana quarterback Brady Gustaffson showed excellent arm strength at 6-7 230 lbs, but his accuracy was terrible. Gustaffson projects as a third string quarterback and will probably go undrafted. Defensive end Caleb Kidder and third string running back Joey Counts impressed. Kidder can play 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 3-4 right end, or 3-4 left end, but has the size of an outside linebacker at 6-4 259 lbs. Kidder is a tweener, but it is tough to project where he plays.

Minnesota Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/13/2017

Minnesota quarterback Mitch Leidner sucked. Jalen Myrick did not dominate his Pro Day and looks like a nickel cornerback or a depth player at best in the NFL. Minnesota right tackle Jonah Pirsig had an outstanding Pro Day. He could get drafted as a right tackle on Day 3 now.

Wake Forest Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/13/2017

Nobody really stood out at Wake Forest's Pro Day. Even Brad Watson my top graded prospect from Wake Forest struggled as did middle linebacker Marquel Lee. I wouldn't be surprised if nobody from Wake Forest got drafted.

March 11, 2017

Washington Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/11/2017

Thirty one of the thirty two showed up at Washington's Pro Day. The only team not in attendance at Washington's Pro Day was the Buffalo Bills.

The New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, and San Francisco 49ers all have private workouts scheduled with five different Washington Huskies. Those players are wide receiver John Ross who did not work out. Cornerback Sidney Jones who did the coverage drills and ran the 40 had an impressive day until he left Washington's Pro Day injured. Safety Budda Baker who interviewed with all of these teams except the Patriots at the 2017 NFL Combine. Cornerback Kevin King played next to Sidney Jones at Washington and had a very strong NFL Combine. Elijah Qualls was the final of those five players that teams were hoping to work out with.

Two other teams that have private workouts with Sidney Jones besides the 12 teams we mentioned are the New York Jets and the Tennessee Titans. The fact that 14 teams have individual workouts with Sidney Jones leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft speaks volumes.

It's uncertain how many of those 14 teams will get individual workouts with Jones. Jones got carted off the field after injuring his left ankle while backpedalling. It's believed that the injury may be a torn ACL, but its too early to speculate the severity of the injury.

Budda Baker showed great leadership helping Jones off the field. Baker had a strong Pro Day, but his size will keep him out of the first round. He could be the fourth safety drafted now though after Jamal Adams, Malik Hooker, and Obi Melifonwu.

Kevin King had a strong Pro Day at cornerback showing he could play the field corner role where Jones lined up after Jones got injured. Kevin King is likely a day 2 pick now. The only question is will he get picked in the late second or third round. The Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears both have private individual workouts with Kevin King scheduled. Like Sidney Jones, Kevin King has 14 different NFL teams bringing him in for individual workouts.

Elijah Qualls was okay. Teams need to bring him in for an individual workout to gage his potential. John Ross, Sidney Jones, Budda Baker, and Kevin King all have the ability to be immediate starters in the NFL.

March 10, 2017

Auburn Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/10/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Auburn's Pro Day. Defensive tackle Montravius Adams and outside linebacker Carl Lawson both dominated Auburn's Pro Day. Both Adams and Lawson look like immediate starters and first round prospects. Lawson is an edge rusher that can play 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 outside linebacker on either side. Adams can play 4-3 defensive tackle, 3-4 nose tackle, or 3-4 left end in the five technique. Everyone else at Auburn's Pro Day looks like a backup.

March 9, 2017

New Mexico Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/9/2017

Two of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at New Mexico's Pro Day. The only teams that were on hand to see Dakota Cox were the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions.

Oklahoma State Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/9/2017

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Oklahoma State's Pro Day. Defensive tackle Vincent Taylor dominated at Oklahoma State's Pro Day and received an individual workout with the New York Jets. Taylor can play anywhere in the 3-4 defense. Tight end Blake Jarwin also impressed at Oklahoma State's Pro Day and may be serviceable enough to be a #2 tight end in the NFL. Nobody else impressed at Oklahoma State's Pro Day.

Wyoming Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/9/2017

Twenty nine of the thirty two showed up at Wyoming's Pro Day. Wide receiver Tanner Gentry wowed people at Wyoming's Pro Day. At least 7 NFL teams scheduled private workouts with Gentry and one has to wonder why he didn't get an invite to the 2017 Senior Bowl or the 2017 NFL Combine. Running back Brian Allen also impressed at Wyoming's Pro Day and should be an effective starter. He didn't wow people like Gentry, but was effective. Left guard Chase Roullier impressed. He showed the versatility to play left guard, center, or right guard on the interior offensive line and should get drafted now. Roullier may start and provides depth on the interior offensive line.

March 8, 2017

Alabama Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/8/2016

All thirty two NFL teams showed up at Alabama's Pro Day. Defensive players on the front 7 like Dalvin Tomlinson, Ryan Anderson, Tim Williams, Jonathan Allen, and Reuben Foster showed they could start right away. Left tackle Cam Robinson showed he corrected his pass blocking footwork so I'm not as concerned about him starting right away at left tackle. Seattle came away extremely impressed with Cam Robinson. Tight end O.J. Howard continued to build off of his momentum in Mobile and the 2017 NFL Combine. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey impressed both the Tennessee Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles at Alabama's Pro Day. Eddie Jackson did not participate at Alabama's Pro Day due to injuries and will have an individual workout on March 29th. I see Jackson as the only backup in this Alabama group as well as ArDarius Stewart at wide receiver.

Colorado Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/8/2017

Thirty one of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Colorado's Pro Day. The Green Bay Packers were the only team that did not show up to Colorado's Pro Day. Cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie and Ahkello Witherspoon impressed at Colorado's Pro Day showing the coverage and ability to be starting NFL cornerbacks. Free safety Tedric Thompson did not show that ability in coverage. Right outside linebacker Jimmie Gilbert reminds me a lot of James Harrison despite being snubbed of an NFL Combine. Josh Tupou impressed NFL teams despite weighing 6-2 353 lbs instead of 325 lbs which is what we had him projected at. Tupou is someone teams are going to have to do individual workouts on since he got suspended for Academic probation in 2015 and because teams will want to know if he can control his weight.

Kentucky Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/8/2017

Twenty three of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Kentucky's Pro Day. Jon Toth and Stanley "Boom" Williams did not impress at Kentuckys Pro Day despite being their top 2 prospects. JoJo Kemp the other running back that complimented Williams had more success at Kentucky's Pro Day Instead guys like cornerback J.D. Harmon, strong safety Marcus McWilliams stood out. NFL teams are going to want to bring in Kentucky's players for individual workouts to get a better read on them. So far Toth is the only Wildcat with an individual workout. Toth has a workout with the Indianapolis Colts scheduled.

Oklahoma Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/8/2017

Twenty four of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Oklahoma's Pro Day. Running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Dede Westbrook impressed at Oklahoma's Pro Day. Both Mixon and Westbrook boosted their stock. Samaje Perine didn't fare as well and now Mixon will get drafted ahead of Perine for sure even though I'd rather have Perine.

Temple Pro Day Recap

Posted By Chris Ransom on 3/8/2017

Twenty six of the thirty two NFL teams showed up at Temple's Pro Day. Dion Dawkins impressed at Temple's Pro Day. He has the tools to be a starting right guard and jumped Isaac Asiata as the fourth best guard in this draft. Jahad Thomas also impressed at running back meaning he may get drafted in the late rounds. Haason Reddick dominated Temple's Pro Day. Reddick looks like a top 20 pick. He may not get past Tampa Bay at 19.
