2022 Senior Bowl: Big Board

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Posted on: 2/5/2022.
In this article, I rank the top 32 players from the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl.
Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa
- Northern Iowa offensive tackle Trevor Penning beat out Buffalo Bills right tackle Spencer Brown for the left tackle job at Northern Iowa. Brown was a day 2 pick, but Penning is probably the favorite to be the first player from the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl to be drafted unless someone reaches for a quarterback.
Jermaine Johnson II, DE, Florida State
- Florida State defensive end Jermaine Johnson II dominated in practice. He's my second best player from the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. He dominated on Tuesday and Wednesday before getting injured and missing practice and the Senior Bowl game on Thursday.
Bernard Raimann, OT, Central Michigan
- Central Michigan left tackle Bernard Raimann showed he's versatile enough to play left tackle and right tackle.
Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh
- Kenny Pickett did well enough to start for the National Team at quarterback by doing well in practice in the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. Pickett ended up going 6/6 with 89 passing yards, and 1 passing touchdown in the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. Dane Brugler and Benjamin Allbright both reported that NFL scouts said that Kenny Pickett gave the best interviews. Matt Rhule, the current Carolina Panthers head coach got Kenny Pickett to originally committ to Temple. Carolina could end up drafting Pickett as early as sixth overall.
Malik Willis, QB, Liberty
- Malik Willis had the best practice week of any quarterback in the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. His agency is Steinberg Sports which represents Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa. Benjamin Allbright believes Malik Willis will go in the top 10 despite the fact that I got a late first round grade on him.
Carson Strong, QB, Nevada
- Carson Strong entered this week as my QB2 behind Matt Corral. Strong struggled his first two days before settling in on Thursday. Kenny Pickett went 6/6 and Desmond Ridder threw 2 touchdowns. Carson Strong had no touchdowns and 1 interception in the Senior Bowl game. Strong had two conseuctive seasons where he completed 70 percent of his passes. Andrew Luck and Baker Mayfield are the only other quarterbacks to do this, plus Joseph Potter the co-host of my podcast thought Carson Strong interviewed better than both Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis.
Logan Hall, DT, Houston
- Houston Cougars 4-3 defensive tackle Logan Hall has a chance to go in the late first round. Logan Hall could follow in the footsteps of Houston Cougars first round picks Ed Oliver and Peyton Turner. Houston has a chance to get three defensive linemen in the first round in the past four NFL Drafts. This milestone would help Houston become defensive line U.
Perion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma
- Perrion Winfrey dominated this week in Mobile just like Logan Hall. Winfrey had 2 sacks and 3 tackles for a loss in the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. Perrion Winfrey's play resulted in him winning the 2022 Senior Bowl MVP award.
Zion Johnson, G/C/OT, Boston College
- Zion Johnson was the last person to leave practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. His work ethic speaks for itself. He can play all five spots on the offensive line, but will probably play on the interior offensive line in the NFL.
Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State
- Trey McBride dominated for the National Team as both a pass catching tight end and a blocking tight end. His outstanding week in Mobile may get him in the conversation to be the first tight end drafted.
Isaiah Likely, TE, Coastal Carolina
- Isaiah Likely was the fastest tight end in Mobile. I had him as my top tight end in Mobile heading into the week. He struggled as a blocker in the blocking drills that tight ends participate in.
Derion Kendrick, CB, Georgia
- Derion Kendrick did well in coverage. He didn't dominate enough to earn day 1 status. He did well enough to earn a second round grade.
Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn
- Roger McCreary had a great week in Mobile. Scouts believe he's a day 2 pick due to his short arm length and 4.5 40 time. He's got the man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage you want from a cornrerback despite short arms.
Darian Kinnard, OT, Kentucky
- Darian Kinnard was a four year starter at right tackle for Kentucky. Kinnard is a day 1 starter at right tackle in the NFL.
Boye Mafe, DE, Minnesota
- Boye Mafe dominated in both the Senior Bowl practices and the Senior Bowl game. Mafe entered the week with a third round grade, but he's now got a second round grade on my big board after his impressive week in Mobile.
Kingsley Engabare, DE, South Carolina
- Kingsley Engabare stepped up late in the week after Jeremiah Johnson II got injured. He had a really good Thursday and Senior Bowl week.
Myjai Sanders, DE, Cincinnati
- Cincinnati Bearcats 4-3 defensive end Myjai Sanders stepped up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Myjai Sanders dominated against Daniel Faalele on Tuesday. He's probably a day 2 pick in the second round.
Cameron Thomas, DE, San Diego State
- San Diego State defensive end Cameron Thomas is represented by Leigh Steinberg. He had a good week, but not a great week. He's probably a second round pick.
Ed Ingram, G, LSU
- LSU left guard Ed Ingram showed the versatility to play left guard or right guard. He also won some one-on-ones against Alabama defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis.
Phidarian Mathis, DT, Alabama
- Phiadarian Mathis had a pretty good week in Mobile. He was nearly flawless outside of the one-on-ones he lost to Ed Ingram.
Devonte Wyatt, DT/3-4 DE, Georgia
- Devonte Wyatt had a great week. Wyatt kept pushing Mathis to be the top defensive tackle on the American Team in practices.
Jalen Tolbert, WR, South Alabama
- Jalen Tolbert was the one receiver that Malik Willis could depend on with the American Team during Senior Bowl practices. Tolbert was also the most effective receiver for the American Team during the Senior Bowl game.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Nevada
- Romeo Doubs was Carson Strong's number one receiver at Nevada. He had quite the week for the National team at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl.
Chad Muma, MLB, Wyoming
- Chad Muma is considered the safest day 2 linebacker in this draft for a reason. He may be better then Logan Wilson. Chad Muma prevented a Malik Willis rushing touchdown on the final play of the first quarter at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl.
Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina
- North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell had a rushing touchdown in the Senior Bowl game. I got a second round grade on Sam Howell after this years Senior Bowl.
Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State
- Jahan Dotson had a very quiet week in Mobile. He was my top third round prospect despite this.
Sam Williams, DE, Ole Miss
- Sam Williams was a late addition to the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. Sam Williams was probably the best late addition prospect..
Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State
- You can make the argument that Christian Watson out of North Dakota State made the biggest splash in Mobile. Christian Watson had an incredible week in Mobile.
Abraham Lucas, OT, Washington State
- Abraham Lucas did well in the right tackle drills. Abraham Lucas is a third round prospect.
Daniel Faalele, OT, Minnesota
- Minnesota right tackle Daniel Fallele struggled against Myjai Sanders. He did well against Arnold Ebikete the Penn State defensive end that some have a third round grade on. Faalele showed the versatility to play both left tackle and right tackle when he won one-on-ones against Ebikete.
Jalen Pitre, S, Baylor
- Baylor safety Jalen Pitre was the top safety in Mobile. He had the best week in Mobile and really boosted his stock..
Leon O'Neal, S, Texas A&M
- Leon O'Neal the Texas A&M safety had a good week in Mobile. He was one of two players giving fans autographs during the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl.
