2020 NFL Week 2 Game Recaps

Game Recap: CLEVELAND-This would be the first meeting between number one picks Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield. Boy was this a game for the ages.

Joe Burrow had a strong first drive. Adrian Clayborn got by left tackle Jonah Williams and sacked Burrow on third down. That was a bad play by Williams in a critical situation, but he's still lightyears better than right tackle Bobby Hart who got completely owned for the second week in a row. Cincinnati settled for a field goal and took a 3-0 lead after a 15-play drive that took up 7 minutes and 47 seconds.

Baker Mayfield followed that up with a flawless first drive going 4/4 with 55 passing yards. Nick Chubb pounded it in for a rushing touchdown. Cleveland led 7-3.

The first quarter ended with Sheldon Richardson getting by Cincinnati right guard Billy Price sacking Joe Burrow. Billy Price beat out Free Agent Xavier Su-a Filo for the right guard job, but Larry Ogunjobi is just better. Sheldon Richardson got by left guard Michael Jordan, a former teammate of Price at Ohio State. Cleveland led 7-3 after one quarter of play.

Baker Mayfield scrambled out of the pocket. Mayfield threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to his best wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who carved Cincinnati's best cornerback William Jackson III for a big play that gave the Browns a 14-3 lead. Baker Mayfield began this game 5/5 with 98 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown, and no interceptions.

Joe Burrow went 5/6 on the next drive, wrapping up this drive with a touchdown pass to tight end C.J. Udozmah. Cleveland led 14-10.

Cincinnati's defense held Cleveland to a three and out. Cleveland got another shot to capitalize after a defensive stop.

Baker Mayfield threw an 18-yard pass to Odell Beckham Jr. A defensive holding penalty on Cincinnati allowed the Browns to gain additional yards.

Baker Mayfield threw a pass to Kareem Hunt for a touchdown. Cleveland led 21-10.

Joe Burrow rallied Cincinnati downfield for a last second score. Randy Bullock made a 43-yard field goal. Cleveland led 21-13 at halftime.

Cleveland began the second half with a long drive. Wyatt Teller's false start penalty made third and four third and nine. Baker delivered a nice first down to Austin Hooper on an 11-yard throw to move the chains. Baker Mayfield threw a 21-yard pass to Jarvis Landry. Nick Chubb ran for a 23-yard gain which was initially called a rushing touchdown. The play was reviewed and overturned. Cincinnati put Cleveland in a fourth and goal situation and adjusted after the stop. Cincinnati stopped Nick Chubb on fourth and two after Cleveland had the ball for a 13-play 79-yard drive that lasted 6 minutes and 58 seconds.

Myles Garrett sacked Joe Burrow and forced a fumble. Cleveland recovered the football. This turnover led to a Nick Chubb rushing touchdown. Cleveland led 28-13. Cincinnati got a field gaol as Cleveland led 28-13 after three quarters of play.

Cleveland won this game 35-30. Quarterback Joe Burrow played as good as a quarterback with a crappy offensive line could going 37/61 with 316 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Burrow became the first quarterback in NFL history with over 60 pass attempts and 0 interceptions.

Cleveland won this game by running the football. They dominated in rushing yards compared to Cincinnati by outrushing the Bengals 215-68. Running back Nick Chubb had 22 carries getting 124 of those 215 rushing yards, and 2 rushing touchdowns to go with it. Kareem Hunt did well as a number two back behind Chubb getting 86 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown on 10 carries. Baker Mayfield ran for 5 rushing yards. Cleveland's run defense was able to stop Mixon while this Cleveland Browns running game as a whole made things easier for Baker Mayfield playing to this teams strength on offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars 1-1-0
Tennessee Titans 2-0-0

Game Recap: TENNESSEE-A.J. Brown was inactive for this game. Whoever wins this game will have sole possession of first place in the AFC South.

Ryan Tannehill threw a touchdown to tight end Jonnu Smith on the Tennessee Titans first drive. Gardner Minshew II threw an interception. Ryan Tannehill threw a touchdown pass to Corey Davis. Tennesse led 14-0 in the first quarter.

Gardner Minshew II threw a touchdown pass to Tyler Eifert. Tennessee led 14-7 after one quarter of play.

Ryan Tannehill went back to Jonnu Smith. Tennessee led 21-7.

Both teams traded field goals. Jacksonville made it 21-10. Tennesee led 24-10 at halftime.

James Robinson the former Illinois State running back and my Mr. Irrelevant in the 2020 NFL Draft who went undrafted got a rushing touchdown. Tennessee led 24-17.

Ryan Tannehill threw a touchdown pass to Adam Humphries. Tennessee missed the extra point. Tennessee led 30-17 after three quarters of play.

Jacksonville went on a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter. That tied the game at 30-30.

Stephen Gostkowski got a field goal late in the game. Jacksonville would get the ball back with one last chance to win.

Gardnew Minshew II threw an interception to Harold Landry. Tennessee's pass rusher that they drafted out of Boston College got a game-winning interception.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was my player of the game. Ryan Tannehill went 18/24 with 239 assing yards, 4 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Tennessee is now 2-0 and in complete control of the AFC South Division.

Carolina Panthers 0-2-0
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-1-0

Game Recap: TAMPA BAY-Both of these NFC South teams need this win. Chris Godwin is out for Tampa Bay.

Teddy Bridgweater had two nice completions to begin this game. Both were for first downs. Jordan Whitehead, the former Pittsburgh Panther intercepted Bridgewater.

Ronald Jones got a rushing touchdown. Tampa Bay led 7-0.

Antoine Winfield Jr. forced a fumble, Jason Pierre-Paul recovered the football. Tom Brady threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans. Tampa Bay led 14-0 after one quarter of play.

Leonard Fournette got a rushing touchdown in the second quarter. Tampa Bay led 21-0 at halftime.

Christian McCaffrey got a rushing touchdown. McCaffrey left this game with an ankle injury. Tampa Bay led 21-7 after three quarters of play.

Carlton Davis intercepted a pass intended for D.J. Moore. Tampa Bay got a field goal off of that play. Tampa Bay led 24-17.

Tampa Bay won this game 31-17. Running back Leonard Fournette was my player of the game. Fournette had 12 carries, 103 rushing yards, and 2 rushing touchdowns averaging an insane 8.6 yards per carry. Quarterback Tom Brady also exceeded the 75,000 career passing yard mark.

Denver Broncos 0-2-0
Pittsburgh Steelers 2-0-0

Game Recap: PITTSBURGH-Pittsburgh should win. The Steelers got James Conner back and are at 100 percent. Denver meanwhile is depleted with injuries at the moment including Von Miller their star pass rusher who is on injured reserve.

Dre Lock got injured in this game and is out 2-6 weeks. Lock got injured on the play where Bud Dupree got unopposed and forced a fumble. Pittsburgh recovered the fumble and that led to a James Conner rushing touchdown.

Pittsburgh won this game 26-21 thanks to Lock leaving the game injured. Running back James Conner had 16 carries, 106 rushing yards, and 1 rushing touchdown. Conner was my player of the game in this contest.

Los Angeles Rams 2-0-0
Philadelphia Eagles 0-2-0

Game Recap: PHILADELPHIA-Jared Goff and Carson Wentz the top 2 picks in the 2016 NFL Draft face off again. Both the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles traded up for these quarterbacks. The Rams traded up with the Titans and the Eagles traded up with the Browns.

Miles Sanders fumbled the ball on his first drive after missing the week 1 game. Micah Kiser forced the fumble. THe Los Angeles Rams got the ball back.

Cam Akers ran the ball on this first drive. The big play came when Jared Goff threw a touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Higbee. Los Angeles led 7-0.

Philadelphia got a field goal on their next drive. Los Angeles led 7-3.

Jared Goff handed it off to Robert Woods on the next drive. Woods the receiver got a rushing touchdown. Los Angeles led 14-3 after one quarter of play.

Jared Goff went back to Tyler Higbee. Goff threw another touchdown to Higbee. Los Angeles led 21-3.

Carson Wentz got a rushing touchdown. Philadelphia missed the extra point. Los Angeles led 21-9.

Miles Sanders got a rushing touchdown. Los Angeles led 21-16 at halftime.

Los Angeles got a field goal in the third quarter. Los Angeles led 24-16 after three quarters of play.

Philadelphia got a field goal in the fourth quarter. Los Angeles led 24-19.

Los Angeles ended this game on a 13-0 run. Los Angeles won 37-19.

Game Recap: NEW YORK-San Francisco will have to win this game without George Kittle, Richard Sherman, Dee Ford, and Deebo Samuel. New York does not have Le'Veon Bell who is injured.

San Francisco won this game 31-13. Jimmy Garoppolo began this game 14/16 with 131 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Bosa, and Solomon Thomas got injured. Raheem Mostert also got inured. Bosa feared to have a torn ACL.

Buffalo Bills 2-0-0
Miami Dolphins 0-2-0

Game Recap: MIAMI-Buffalo does not have Tremaine Edmunds or Matt Milano. This gives Miami a shot if they can exploit Buffalo's backup linebackers.

Buffalo got the ball to start this game. Devin Singletary kicked things off with a 14-yard run. Buffalo punted it to Miami after failing to capitalize on their first drive.

Ed Oliver sacked Miami on third and eight. Oliver's sack forced Miami to punt the football.

Josh Allen threw a 25-yard pass to Stefon Diggs. That completion went for a first down. Josh Allen converted a third down conversion when he threw a completion to John Brown. Josh Allen scrambled for a first down. Josh Allen threw a first down to Cole Beasley. These plays set up Josh Allen's first passing touchdown. Buffalo led 7-0.

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a completion to Preston Williams. That made it first and goal. Miami threw a touchdown pass when Ryan Fitzpatrick connected with DeVante Parker. This game was tied 7-7 after one quarter of play.

Josh Allen threw a touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs. Buffalo got a field goal after that later in the second quarter. Buffalo led 17-7.

Miami got a field goal. Josh Allen stiff armed Kyle Van Noy on a run. Buffalo led 17-10 at halftime.

Miami got a field goal on their first possession in the third quarter. That was the only score of the third quarter. Buffalo led 17-13 after three quarters of play.

Jordan Howard got a rushing touchdown to cap off a 10-play 44-yard drive that took up 5 minutes and 13 seconds. Miami led 20-17.

Josh Allen followed that up with a 47-yard pass to Stefon Diggs and a 24-yard pass to Cole Beasley. Those completions set up a play where Josh Allen threw a pass to Gabrel Davis. The 2020 draft pick out of Central Florida got his first career receiving touchdown. Buffalo led 24-20.

Josh Allen threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to John Brown. Buffalo led 31-20. Miami got a touchdown and two point conversion late in the game, but it didn't matter. Buffalo won 31-28.

Quarterback Josh Allen was my player of the game. Josh Allen went 24/35 with 417 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Minnesota Vikings 0-2-0
Indianapolis Colts 1-1-0

Game Recap: INDIANAPOLIS-Many people picked both the Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts to start 1-0 as both of these teams were locks to win on Draft Utopia. Now both teams have to try to avoid an 0-2 start after disappointing outings in week 1.

Minnesota scored in the first quarter with a field goal. Minnesota led 3-0 after one quarter of play.

Indianapolis scored 28 unanswered after that. Indianapolis won this game 28-11.

Jonathan Taylor was my player of the game. Jonathan Taylor had 26 caries, 101 rushing yards, and 1 rushing touchdown.

Detroit Lions 0-2-0
Green Bay Packers 2-0-0

Game Recap: GREEN BAY-Detroit is depleted at cornerback. Green Bay should be 2-0 after today if Aaron Rodgers continues to play like he did in week 1. Rodgers carved a strong Minnesota team and now gets the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field without Kenny Golloday at wide receiver and three injured cornerbacks for Detroit.

Detroit's opening drive was flawless. Quarterback Matthew Stafford went 3/3 with 40 passing yards. Running back Kerryon Johnson ran it in for a rushing touchdown. Detroit led 7-0 after an 8-play 60-yard drive that lasts 4 minutes and 27 seconds.

Green Bay followed up with a 12-play 50-yard drive that took up 4 minutes and 51 seconds. Mason Crosby kicked a field goal. Detroit led 7-3.

Matthew Stafford threw a touchdown pass to Marvin Jones. Detroit led 14-3 after one quarter of play.

Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Aaron Jones. Detroit led 14-10.

Aaron Rodgers had another chance to score. Duron Harmon and Jeffrey Okudah both displayed amazing zone coverage on this third down stop with Okudah lining up at field cornerback where he played at Ohio State. Green Bay punted the football back to Detroit.

Green Bay sacked Stafford on second down. This nearly resulted in a safety. Green Bay held Detroit to a three and out and made the stop.

Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass. Green Bay led 17-14. Detroit quickly rallied downfield. The Lions attempted to tie this game before halftime. The field goal was no good. Green Bay led 17-14 at halftime.

Aaron Jones got a huge 75-yard rushing touchdown to start the second half. Green Bay led 24-14 at this point.

Green Bay won this game 42-21. Running back Aaron Jones was my player of the game. Aaron Jones had 18 carries, 168 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, 4 receptions, 68 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 22 touches, 236 total yards, and 3 total touchdowns.

Atlanta Falcons 0-2-0
Dallas Cowboys 1-1-0

Game Recap: DALLAS-Both of these teams need to win this week to save their seasons. Julio Jones and Amari Cooper both went to Alabama and are both number one receivers on each team.

Both defenses stepped up early. Atlanta and Dallas both forced the opposing offenses to three and outs on their first drives. Atlanta also went three and out on their second drive.

Dante Fowler forced a fumble when he sacked Dak Prescott. Atlanta recovered the fumble. Atlanta managed to capitalize off that drive when Matt Ryan fired a 22-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Ridley. Atlanta led 7-0.

More fumbling woes for Dallas? Yep, Ezekiel Elliott coughed up the football. Grady Jarrett recovered the fumble. Atlanta capitalized again when Matt Ryan threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to tight end Hayden Hurst. Atlanta led 14-0.

Atlanta got a field goal on their next drive and led 17-0. Dallas fumbled the ball for a third time in the first quarter. Atlanta recovered for a third time. Dallas deserves some credit for holding Atlanta to another field goal. Atlanta led 20-0 after one quarter of play thanks to some fumbles and the young ho know as Koo.

Ezekiel Elliott finally got Dallas on the scoreboard with a rushing touchdown. Atlanta led 20-7.

Matt Ryan threw a touchdown pass to Calvin Ridley. Atlanta tried to make it a 21-point lead with a two point conversion and failed. Atlanta led 26-7.

Dallas got a field goal, but so did Atlanta. Atlanta led 29-10 at halftime.

Dak Prescott threw a nice dart to CeeDee Lamb. Dak Presott ran it in for a touchdown. Atlanta led 29-17. Dak wasn't done, he threw a long ball to Amari Cooper. Then Dak ran it in again. Atlanta led 29-24.

Trevon Diggs made a huge deflection on third down. Julio Jones caught a critial first down near the end of the third quarter. Atlanta led 29-24 after three quarters of play.

Matt Ryan threw a touchdown pass to Russell Gage. Atlanta also got a field goal after a turnover on downs. Atlanta led 39-24 in the fourth quarter.

Atlanta led by 15 points with under 6 minutes left in this game. Dak Prescott threw a passing touchdown. Dallas attempted the two point conversion, but did not get it. Atlanta led 39-30 after Dallas had a 10 play 75-yard drive that took up 3 mintues of clock.

Atlanta responded by taking up 2 minutes of clock after they got the ball back. Everson Griffen made a critical sack on this drive. This gave Dallas under 3 minutes to get 10 points.

Dak Prescott threw a pass to Michael Gallup. Initially this was ruled an incompletion, but the call got overturned by the officials even though Dallas had no timeouts. Dak Prescott ran it in. Atlanta led 39-37.

All Atlanta had to do to win this game was recover an onside kick. Dallas got the ball back. Greg Zuerlein had a chance to win this game. Zuerlein made the 46-yard field goal as Dallas rallied back to defeat Atlanta 40-39.

Dak Prescott was my player of the game. Dak Prescott went 34/47 with 450 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown, 3 rushing touchdowns, and 4 total touchdowns on the day.

New York Giants 0-2-0
Chicago Bears 2-0-0

Game Recap: CHICAGO-New York heads to Chicago. Saquon Barkley needs to do much better in week 2 if the Giants are to pull the upset.

Chicago opened this game with a 12-play 77-yard drive that took up 7 minutes and 35 seconds. Mitchell Trubisky capped off the drive by throwing a touchdown pass to running back David Montgomery. Chicago led 7-0.

Daniel Jones was sacked. The offensive tackle tandem of Andrew Thomas and Cameron Flemming could not handle the duo of Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn. Quinn forced the fumble and Mack recovered it. Chicago managed to capitalize off of that fumble with a field goal. Chicago led 10-0.

Saquon Barkley ran for a first down. He got injured on the play and it's feared to be a torn ACL.

After Saquon got injured, this game just became too deperessing to watch for Giants fans. Chicago led 10-0 after one quarter of play.

Mitchell Trubisky threw a touchdown pass to Darnell Mooney, who I loved coming out of Tulane. Chicago led 17-0 at halftime.

New York managed to get 13 points in the second half. Chicago's defense was back at full health after injuries against Detroit as this Chicago Bears defense may be better than the defense they had two years ago when they won this division.

Running back David Montgomery was my player of the game. David Montgomery had 16 carries for 82 rushing yards, 3 receptions on 3 targets for 45 receiving yards, 127 total yards, and 1 receiving touchdown. David Montgomery and this stout defense is why Chicago is 2-0.

Washington Football Team 1-1-0
Arizona Cardinals 2-0-0

Game Recap: ARIZONA-This will be the first game in twenty one years that the Snyder's, chose not to attend. Dan Snyder was near contact with an individual that had Covid-19.

Arizona led this game for the entirety of the game once they scored. Arizona won 30-15 which ironically is the score of a tennis match. This is also Arizona's first 2-0 start since the 2015-2016 season where Arizona lost the NFC Championship to the Carolina Panthers in Cam Newton's MVP season.

Quarterback Kyler Murray was my player of the game. Kyler Murray went 26/38 with 286 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown, 2 rushing touchdowns, 3 total touchdowns, and 1 interception.

Kansas City Chiefs 2-0-0
Los Angeles Chargers 1-1-0

Game Recap: LOS ANGELES-Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs take on Tyrod Taylor and the Los Angeles Chargers. Both teams are playing for the right to be 2-0 and control of the AFC West Division.

Justin Herbert was announced as the starting quarterback 5-10 seconds before kickoff. Tyrod Taylor was ruled out of this game with a chest injury. I saw Herbert dominate the practices, interviews, and the 2020 Senior Bowl game in Mobile.

Justin Herbert did well on his first NFL drive with an 8-play 79-yard drive that lasted 3 minutes and 37 seconds. Los Angeles led 7-0 after one quarter of play thanks to their stingy defense stepping up early.

Patrick Mahomes threw a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce. Harrison Butker missed the extra point after a holding penalty pushed Kansas City back 10 yards on the extra point. Los Angeles led 7-6.

Justin Herbert threw a passing touchdown after having a rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Los Angeles led 14-6 at halftime and held Patrick Mahomes to a career low 60 passing yards in the first half.

Both teams traded field goals in the third quarter. Kansas City got the ball first, but the Chargers made a defensive stop before gaining an 11 point lead. Harrison Butker made a field goal. Los Angeles led 17-9 after three quarters of play.

Justin Herbert had the ball at the Kansas City 39-yard line. Herbert threw a pass to Keenan Allen on second and two. It was intercepted by L'Jarius Sneed who did great in the opener against the Texans.

Patrick Mahomes threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill. That play set up a two point conversion and Kansas City tied the game at 17.

Both teams traded field goals after that with the Chargers re-gaining the lead before teh Chiefs tied it thanks to a 13-play 39-yard drive that took up 5 minutes and 52 seconds. This game would go to overtime tied 20-20 after four quarters of play.

Los Angeles won the coin toss. Kansas City held the Chargers to a three and out. I agree with Tony Romo when he said the Chargers should go for it on fourth down rather than punting it in overtime.

Kansas City put together a strong drive. They got the field goal. Kansas City barely wins this game and improves to 2-0.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was my player of the game. Patrick Mahomes went 27/47 with 302 passing yards, 54 rushing yards, 356 total yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Kansas City improves to 9-0 in September since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starter.

Baltimore Ravens 2-0-0
Houston Texans 0-2-0

Game Recap: HOUSTON-Last time these quarterbacks faced each other, Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson met in 2016 when Louisiville played Clemson. Maybe they met one in the NFL, but this is a big game for both former ACC quarterbacks.

Both defenses stepped up early. Baltimore held Deshaun Watson to a three and out on his first series. Houston did the same with Lamar Jackson.

Justin Tucker got a field goal. That was the only score of the first quarter. Baltimore led 3-0 after one quarter of play.

Lamar Jackson threw a touchdown pass to make it 10-0 after Houston had a turnover on downs. Baltimore, like Arizona, controlled this game from start to finish. Baltimore won 33-16.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson was my player of the game. Lamar Jackson went 18/24 with 204 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown, and no interceptions.

Seattle Seahawks 2-0-0

Game Recap: SEATTLE-This is the second regular season matchup between Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll since Super Bowl 49. This time, Cam Newton is starting at quarterback instead of Tom Brady.

Game Recap: LAS VEGAS-This will be the first NFL game to be played in Las Vegas. Drew Brees heads to Las Vegas to take on Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders.

New Orleans got a field goal on their first drive. Alvin Kamara ran it in for a rushing touchdown. New Orleans made three defensive stops in the first quarter and led 10-0 after one quarter of play.

Derek Carr went 7/7 on his first drive in the second quarter. Carr capped off the drive with a passing touchdown to fullback Alec Ingold. New Orleans led 10-7.

Drew Brees threw a touchdown to tight end Jared Cook Jr. New Orleans led 17-7.
