Only five quarterbacks won player of the game this season on Draft Utopia. In 2024, Josh Allen beat out Patrick Mahomes 9 to 6 to win player of the game with Lamar Jackson only winning player of the game 5 times and Josh Allen would later edge out Lamar Jackson the 2023 MVP win his first MVP award. Last year Drake Maye beat out Matthew Stafford for the most player of the game honors among quarterbacks in 2025 despite Stafford winning MVP by one meager vote. Kimes got her MVP vote right and Dan Orlovsky got it wrong. I will die on that hill since the media ignored the eye test for a few reasons. One the media loves sports teams in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Two most sports fans as well as sports media members outside of Boston, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and Delaware despise the New England Patriots. Three New England had the third easiest strength of schedule behind New Orleans and San Francsico heading into May of 2025, but detractors attest New England had the easiest strength of schedule in thirty years among any NFL team and that's a bullshit narrative if New Orleans and San Francisco had easier schedules heading into May of last season when the schedules were first released. Casual NFL fans ignore this because it doesn't fit a narrative against Drake Maye. Still that narrative, the fact that Stafford played on the Rams, the fact that Drake Maye played on the Patriots, and the fact that Stafford had the better touchdown to interception ratio despite Maye being more consistent on film last season factored into Stafford winning MVP by a single vote. Anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves and not looking at the bigger picture.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the only quarterback to win player of the game in the first two weeks of the NFL season as the Buffalo Bills are 2-0, so he's the clear front runner to win MVP in 2026. Patrick Mahomes a former two time MVP in 2018 and 2022 is probably the number two candidate behind Josh Allen as the Kansas City Chiefs are also currently 2-0. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is third on my list as the San Francisco 49ers are also 2-0 as Purdy won player of the game versus Miami. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams also won player of the game in week 1 before leaving in week 2 with an injury. Both Dallas and Chicago are 1-1, so we'll put Dak Prescott at four and Caleb Wlliams at five for now in the MVP race since Caleb Williams is currently injured.

Game Recap: LOS ANGELES-New York headed to Los Angeles. New York played a two tight end set with Isaiah Likely and Chris Manhertz the third string tight end as the two starting tight ends, so backup tight end Theo Johnson came off the bench and was the third string tight end with Patrick Ricard at fullback with Malik Nabers as the only starting wide receiver. Los Angeles started three tight ends in Davis Allen, Colby Parkinson, and Terrance Ferguson with their best wide receiver Puka Nacua inactive. Myles Garrett was not on the Rams which was the biggest reason Aaron Donald unretired, but Aaron Donald would make his long awaited return with the Los Angeles Rams.
