Senior Bowl 2018 Senior Bowl: North Team: Will be coached by Denver Broncos and South Team: Will be coached by Houston Texans.

2017 Senior Bowl: Day 2 Recap

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Posted on: 1/24/2018.

The North team took practice first. Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Luke Falk were the best quarterbacks on the North Team. Tanner Lee threw another interception. Baker showed tremendous short and medium accuracy while Allen thrived when making challenging NFL throws. Mahomes hit 60 miles per hour at last years NFL Combine. Josh Allen hit 66 miles per hour at the Senior Bowl. Allen said he's willing to learn in Miami as a backup if they take him at 11, but that he's looking forward to competing for the starting job.

Kalen Ballage was the only running back that stood out on day 2 for the North Team. Ballage had another strong day, but he didn't showcase the same spark like he did on day 1.

Michael Gallup was my favorite wide receiver on day 2. I felt Gallup stood out the most. James Washington wasn't as effective on day 2 as he was on day 1. Gallup weighed in at 6-1 198 lbs. Gallup had a huge day catching a touchdown pass from Allen. Gallup has the route tree down with his route running. My big question with him was his speed and ability to create separation. Gallup showed that and one Broncos coach compared him to Rod Smith which is clearly high praise.

Mike Gesicki did well at tight end so did Tyler Conklin out of Central Michigan. He had a good weigh in. Josh Allen threw one of his two touchdowns to Gesicki today. Gesicki could be a riser if he keeps it up. Jordan Akins out of Central Florida also stepped up. The other tight ends Dallas Goedert and Adam Breneman didn't practice again. Goedert tore his hamstring for South Dakota State. Troy Fumagali struggled on day 1 and did better today, but didn't stand out in any way.

Brian O'Neill struggled today. He got beat by Garrett Dooley on some blocks. Tyrell Crosby and Will Hernandez dominated once again at left tackle and left guard for the North Team. Isaiah Wynn dominated on day 2 just like on day 1. Poona Ford did well versus Bradley Bozeman.

Marcus Davenport outplayed Ogboninna Okoronkwo for the second day in a row. Davenport could end up being a huge riser and has separated himself. Scouts are saying he had the same exact impact as Reddick did last year. Shaquem Griffin also impressed again today. Uchenna Nwosu had a much better second day.

Nick DeLuca really improved in coverage. He's someone that separated himself. DeLuca looks like a future starter based on what I've seen. The big question will be whether DeLuca stays healthy in the NFL.

Kyzir White dominated at safety. The West Virginia safety had a second strong day in a row. My favorite cornerback on day 2 of the 2018 Senior Bowl was Jamarcus King out of South Carolina. King had a huge 2017 campaign and that got him invited to Mobile for the 2018 Senior Bowl.

The South team quarterback that impressed me again was Kurt Benkert. Kyle Lauetta and Mike White looked better after struggling on day 1. Both project as good backups in the NFL.

Levi Wallace the Alabama cornerback did well in coverage. Wallace could move up with a strong third day.

After two days of the Senior Bowl, the biggest thing I have learned is that the two quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Josh ALlen have really stood out. Both look like top 10 picks at the very worst right now.
