Cincinnati Bengals: Markus Bailey, MLB, Purdue
A+ Grade
- Cincinnati had a very strong draft overall. They got two guys on offense that look like guaranteed starters with LSU quarterback Joe Burrow and Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins. Kansas right guard Hakeem Adeniji can push Xavier Su'a Filo for the right guard job.
- Khalid Kareem was the biggest reach that the Cincinnati Bengals made in the fifth round. Cincinnati loaded up at linebacker with Logan Wilson, Akeem Davis-Gaither, and Markus Bailey to compliment their current starting linebackers Germaine Pratt and Jordan Evans.
- Logan Wilson and Akeem Davis-Gather are both talented enough to start over Jordan Evans across from Pratt. Getting Bailey for depth, who I had a fifth round grade on to start the seventh round was another strong move by Cincinnati.
- The 6-0 235 lb Markus Bailey had 82 solo tackles, 33 assisted tackles, 115 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, and led Purdue with 5.5 sacks in 2018. Bailey got injured in 2019 and missed most of the 2019 season. He did the bench press at the combine, but did not opt to run in any drills or workout. He was medically cleared a few weeks ago so at this point, Cincinnati can take a flyer on Markus Bailey and hope this pick pans out.
Washington Redskins: Kamren Curl, SS, Arkansas
F Grade
- There were better safeties on the board. Also better players at a position of need. That's why this pick got an F grade.
San Francisco 49ers: Jauan Jennings, WR, Tennessee
A+ Grade
- The 6-3 206 lb Jauan Jennings was Tennessee's go-to-guy at wide receiver the past three seasons even with subpar quarterback play. He's a great blocker with good speed and strong hands.
- San Francisco has Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Dante Pettis as starting receivers. One more big body target for depth like Jauan Jennings for depth with Kendrick Bourne gives San Francisco necessary depth at wide receiver with Jalen Hurd moving to the backup tight end role.
New York Giants: Carter Coughlin, 3-4 ROLB, Minnesota
C Grade
- Carter Coughlin is a solid pick here. He'd make a better fit for a team running a 4-3 scheme though.
Minnesota Vikings: Geno Stone, FS, Iowa
B Grade
- Geno Stone will be a backup to Harrison Smith. I think Geno Stone is the ideal player to groom behind Harrison Smith.
Los Angeles Chargers: K.J. Hill, WR, Ohio State
A+ Grade
- The 6-0 190 lb K.J. Hill dominated in Mobile. He makes an ideal slot receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round next to guys like Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. It was surprising to see Hill fall this far.
Carolina Panthers: Stantley Thomas-Oliver III, CB, Florida International
A+ Grade
- The 6-0 192 lb Stantley Thomas-Oliver III, has the man coverage and zone coverage you want a cornerback to have. He lined up at both field cornerback and boundary cornerback.
- Stantley Thomas-Oliver III ran a 4.48 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine. He also had a 34-inch vertical and can have a similar impact to Trufant if he fixes his press coverage. Stantley Thomas-Oliver III will play next to Donte Jackson in Carolina. He may even do well enough to supplant Donte Jackson as the number one field cornerback. The more I watch this Florida International cornerback on tape, the more tempted I am to move him into the third round of my mock draft after mocking him to Atlanta in the fourth round.
- He reminds me of Josh Norman coming out of Coastal Carolina. Carolina drafted Josh Norman in the 2012 NFL Draft when they got Norman. Now they get Stantley Thomas-Oliver here.
Arizona Cardinals: Eno Benjamin, RB, Arizona State
A+ Grade
- Arizona has Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds. I am giving Arizona a third running back for depth here since they traded David Johnson to the Houston Texans. The 5-9 195 lb Eno Benjamin looked promising in Mobile during Senior Bowl practices. He has good speed, pass catching, and ball carrier vision. Pass protection is his only weakness.
- Eno Benjamin had 300 carries, 1,642 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 35 receptions, 263 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 335 touches, 1,905 total yards, and 18 total touchdowns in 2018 after taking over for Kalen Ballage. Benjamin had 253 carries, 1,083 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 42 receptions, 347 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 295 touches, 1,430 total yards, and 12 total touchdowns in 2019.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Chris Claybrooks, CB, Memphis
C Grade
- Jacksonville has C.J. Henderson, D.J. Hayden, and Amik Robertson as their top three cornerbacks. Depth is needed so Chris Claybrooks will be the dime cornerback for depth behind those top three corners.
Tennessee Titans: Cole McDonald, QB, Hawaii
A- Grade
- Outside of Josh Love and Darius Wade, Cole McDonald was my top quarterback on the board. Ryan Tannehill needs a backup and Cole McDonald is an ideal candidate this late in the draft.
Minnesota Vikings: Kenny Willekes, LE, Michigan State
A+ Grade
- I had Kenny Willekes to the Vikings in the seventh round. I love this pick.
- Minnesota gets a pass rusher for depth. Kenny Willekes is a good value pick in the seventh round.
Chicago Bears: Arlington Hambright, LT, Colorado
C Grade
- Solid pick. There were two players on Colorado graded higher at this point. I can't fault Chicago for wanting depth behind Charles Leno Jr. at left tackle.
Chicago Bears: Lachavious Simmons, LG, Tennessee State
F Grade
- Lachavious Simmons wasn't even on most draft boards. This pick warrants an F grade.
Atlanta Falcons: Sterling Hofrichter, P, Syracuse
A Grade
- Sterling Hofrichter was a special teams captain three years in a row at punter after Riley Dixon was drafted in 2016. Syracuse is beginning to build an NFL factory for punters.
Washington Redskins: James Smith-Williams, ROLB, North Carolina
C Grade
- Solid pick by Washington. The Redskins need three starting linebackers for their 4-3 defense so they gamble on one here hoping they get their guy.
New England Patriots: Dustin Woodard, C, Memphis
A Grade
- The 6-2 285 lb Dustin Woodard had 52 consecutive starts at Memphis on the offensive line tying the school record for consecutive starts on the offensive line.
- Dustin Woodard has experience at left guard, center, and right guard. He can play anywhere on the interior offensive line which is the same skill set Ted Karras had coming out of Illinois before he played out his rookie deal in New England before signing with Miami.
- Dustin Woodard may not have been on my board. That doesn't change the fact that Bill Belichick did his homework on Woodard and made a great pick here.
Dallas Cowboys: Ben DiNucci, QB, James Madison
A- Grade
- Ben DiNucci met Mike McCarthy in an elevator. Dallas had him as their top quarterback on their board as McCarthy compared him to Marc Bulger.
- Dallas was going to take him as a UDFA. Chicago and Cleveland both had interest in getting DiNucci as an Undrafted Free Agent. This prompted Dallas to spend their seventh round pick on DiNucci as he began the FCS Championship game 6/6. DiNucci also had more experience as a starter than my top ranked FCS quarterback Kevin Davison so this is a great pick if Dallas is sold on this guy. It seems like the Cowboys knew they wanted DiNucci.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Carlos Davis, NT, Nebraska
B Grade
- Pittsburgh needed a nose tackle to replace Javon Hargrave. Carlos Davis out of Nebraska is a good, but not great selection in the seventh round.
Philadelphia Eagles: Casey Toohill, LOLB, Stanford
A Grade
- Philadelphia got Davion Taylor as a 4-3 right outside linebacker, Shaun Bradley as a 4-3 middle linebacker, and now they got Casey Toohill as a 4-3 left outside linebacker. I like how Philadelphia reloaded at linebacker with their picks in this draft.
Los Angeles Rams: Clay Johnston, 3-4 MLB, Baylor
C Grade
- Solid pick here. The Los Angeles Rams need more depth at 3-4 middle linebacker.
Detroit Lions: Jashon Cornell, DT, Ohio State
C+ Grade
- Detroit needs a second 4-3 defensive tackle next to Danny Shelton. I don't think they got a starter, but this is a quality backup. Detroit got Jalen Elliott as an undrafted Free Agent who was my top player on the board in the seventh round which is why this grade gets bumped up to an C+ grade.
Green Bay Packers: Vernon Scott, SS, TCU
C- Grade
- Big reach here. Reason I'm sparing the Packers with a C- grade is because SuperFrog was kind enough to pose with me in Mobile.
Kansas City Chiefs: BoPete Keyes, CB, Tulane
A Grade
- BoPete Keyes has great press coverage. Him and L'Jarius Sneed were both defensive backs that Kansas City wanted. I got Sneed as a safety while Keyes fits the bill for what the Chiefs want in a cornerback.
New York Giants: T.J. Brunson, 3-4 MLB, South Carolina
A+ Grade
- New York gets one of the leaders to South Carolina's defense this late in the seventh round. Brunson can play inside or on the outside as he got by Clemson left tackle Jackson Carman to pressure Trevor Lawrence in South Carolina's home game against Clemson.
Buffalo Bills: Dane Jackson, CB, Pittsburgh
A+ Grade
- Dane Jackson was my second best player on the board behind Jalen Elliott as well as the best player on my board to get drafted in the seventh round. That's why the Bills got an A+ grade here after superb drafting where they got A.J. Epenesa, Zack Moss, Gabriel Davis, Jake Fromm, Isaiah Hodgins, and Dane Jackson all in one draft class.
- The 6-0 180 lb Dane Jackson is the player that had no business falling this far in the draft after keeping Gabriel Davis in check who Buffalo selected earlier. Jackson is a great value pick at this point in the 2020 NFL Draft. He practiced with the South team in Mobile that was coached by the Cincinnati Bengals.
- Dane Jackson has the man coverage, zone coverage, press coverage, and speed to be a boundary cornerback in the NFL against teams number two receivers. He also had a 21.7 MPH when NFL teams timed his speed during practice at the 2020 Senior Bowl. Dane Jackson needs to do a better job executing at times because he is prone to missing an assignment if your wide receiver knows how to fake a route and make a defender miss. His 4.57 40-time is also slower than expected, but I am willing to look past that because I love how consistent Jackson is on tape.
- Dane Jackson had 9 deflections from pass breakups in 2017. Jackson had 14 deflections from pass breakups in 2018. Jackson had 12 deflections from pass breakups in 2019. Dane Jackson was a team captain on Pittsburgh despite being the boundary cornerback so leadership is another strong trait that Jackson brings.
- Dane Jackson is good enough to be the nickel cornerback right away in Buffalo. If Jackson ends up as the dime cornerback he will sit behind Josh Norman for a year before taking over for Norman at boundary cornerback.
New Orleans Saints: Tommy Stevens, QB, Mississippi State
F Grade
- Tommy Stevens is a guy that the Saints see taking over for Taysom Hill as a the gadget quarterback on offense when Drew Brees retires. I'm not high on him personally, but there is a good reason New Orleans traded up to 240 for this pick. New Orleans also signed Jameis Winston after the draft so New Orleans traded up for a fourth string quarterback which is why the Saints got an F grade.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Chapelle Russell, 3-4 LOLB, Temple
F Grade
- Tampa Bay gets an edge rusher for depth here. Not sure Chapelle Russell will be a good fit here.
Green Bay Packers: Jonathan Garvin, 3-4 ROLB, Miami FL
D Grade
- This pick is a reach. It's better than some of the picks that Green Bay made.
Tennessee Titans: Chris Jackson, FS, Marshall
D Grade
- Tennessee needed safety depth. They go with Chris Jackson over some other safeties that we had graded higher in this draft.
Minnesota Vikings: Nate Stanley, QB, Iowa
C Grade
- There were better quarterbacks still on the board. I'm surprised Minnesota took Stanley this late, but I'm not opposed to this pick entirely if Minnesota is sold on Stanley as a backup to Cousins.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Raymond Calais, RB, Louisiana-Lafayette
B Grade
- Raymond Calias had a good 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine. Getting him for depth behind Ronald Jones and Ke'Shawn Vaughn this late in the draft is not a bad idea.
Miami Dolphins: Malcolm Perry, WR, Navy
C+ Grade
- Miami waited this long for a receiver and got a solid one in Malcolm Perry. He's not going to be an immediate starter, but could run some wildcat plays like former Dolphin Pat White.
New York Giants: Chris Williamson, CB, Minnesota
C Grade
- New York got this compensation pick at 247 thanks to Mario Edwards Jr. signing with the New Orleans Saints.
- New York has DeAndre Baker as their field cornerback, James Bradberry as their boundary cornerback, Darnay Holmes as their nickel cornerback, Corey Littleton as their dime cornerback, and Chris Williamson as their quarter cornerback. New York did a good job loading up at cornerback.
Los Angeles Rams: Sam Slowman, K, Miami Ohio
C Grade
- Houston got this compensation pick at 248 thanks to Kendall Lamb signing with the Cleveland Browns. Houston traded this pick to the Los Angeles Rams.
- Sam Slowman is a legit kicker according to people that saw him at Miami Ohio. The Rams got a kicker that went 26/30 on field goal attempts, 34/34 on extra points, and 4/5 on field goals that were 50 yards or longer. Ok this pick isn't as bad as you would think.
Minnesota Vikings: Brian Cole II, SS, Mississippi State
C Grade
- Minnesota got this compensation pick at 249 thanks to Trevor Siemian signing with the New York Jets.
- He was at the 2020 NFL Combine. Even though I wasn't impressed with him, you cannot fault Minnesota for taking him at this point if they liked him.
Los Angeles Rams: Tremayne Anchrum, RG, Clemson
A+ Grade
- Houston got this compensation pick at 250 thanks to Christian Covington signing with the Dallas Cowboys. Los Angeles got this pick in a trade with the Houston Texans.
- I had Anchrum going a lot earlier than this. Not sure he will win the right guard job, but he is good enough to make this roster as a backup right guard.
Seattle Seahawks: Stephen Sullivan, TE, LSU
B- Grade
- Miami got this compensation pick at 251 thanks to Brandon Bolden signing with the New England Patriots. Miami dealt this pick to Seattle.
- Solid pick for Seattle even though Thaddeus Moss and Jacob Breeland are still on the board. Seattle has Greg Olsen, Will Dissley, and Colby Parkinson who they got in the fourth round of this draft. Those are going to be the top three tight ends on Seattle's depth chart. Stephen Sullivan is a fantastic blocker and someone who probably gets demoted to practice squad unless he does enough in training camp to win a job on special teams.
Denver Broncos: Tyrie Cleveland, WR, Florida
B Grade
- Denver got this compensation pick at 252 thanks to Max Garcia signing with the Arizona Cardinals.
- I like him more than Freddie Swain. Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton will be the two main receivers with KJ Hamler as the slot receiver. Tim Patrick and DaeShon Hamilton are the top two backups for depth. Cleveland will be the number six receiver on this depth chart giving Denver outstanding starters and depth players at wide receiver for Drew Lock to throw to.
Minnesota Vikings: Kyle Hinton, LG, Washburn
A Grade
- Minnesota got this compensation pick at 253 thanks to Tom Compton signing with the New York Jets.
- Kyle Hinton has 34 career starts. Now he gets the chance to compete for a backup left guard spot behind starter Pat Elflein on this depth chart.
Denver Broncos: Derrek Tuszka, 3-4 ROLB, North Dakota State
A+ Grade
- Denver got this compensation pick at 254 thanks to Tramaine Brock signing with the Tennessee Titans.
- The 6-4 251 lb Derrek Tuszka had 19 tackles for a loss and 13.5 sacks in 2019. He gives Denver depth at the edge behind two first round starters in Von Miller and Bradley Chubb. Miller is deadly when healthy and Chubb suffered a season ending injury in 2019 so getting Tuszka for insurance is a smart move by Denver.
New York Giants: Tae Crowder, 3-4 MLB, Georgia
D Grade
- New York got this compensation pick at 255 thanks to Josh Mauro signing with the Oakland Raiders now known as the Las Vegas Raiders.
- New York got a third 3-4 middle linebacker here. This one for depth with the Mr. Irrelevant pick. It's an okay pick, but there were better players on the board. Ten players in my top 150 went on to sign with other teams as undrafted Free Agents so getting one of those players for depth would have ensured an A+ grade here.
