2020 NFL Draft Results

Round 4

LSU left tackle Saahdiq Charles is my top player on the board entering the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: April 25, 2020.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals: Akeem Davis-Gaither, LOLB, Appalachian State A+ Grade

Cincinnati now has Akeem Davis-Gaither and Logan Wilson to push Jordan Evans for that starting 4-3 left outside linebacker job next to Germaine Pratt in the nickel. Cincinnati has starters and depth players at linebacker.

The 6-1 219 lb Akeem Davis-Gaither can play 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, 3-4 right outside linebacker, 3-4 left outside linebacker, strong safety, or free safety with his versatility. He knows how to rush the passer, stop the run, and drop back into coverage while playing sideline to sideline.

Click this Akeem Davis-Gaither Interview to hear a press conference featuring Appalachian State's best player.

  2. Washington Redskins: Saahdiq Charles, LT, LSU A+ Grade

Washington takes Joe Burrow's blindside as a replacement to Trent Williams. The 6-4 321 lb Saahdiq Charles has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking strength, pass blocking footwork run blocking strength, run blocking footwork and zone blocking you want a left tackle to have. Charles started at left tackle, right tackle, and right guard in 2017 before starting his final two seasons exclusively at left tackle where he was Joe Burrow's blindside the last two seasons.

  3. Las Vegas Raiders: John Simpson, LG, Clemson A+ Grade

The 6-4 310 lb John Simpson is versatile enough to play left guard or right guard. The Las Vegas Raiders have Ritchie Incognito at left guard and Gabe Jackson at right guard. Simpson is good enough to start, but can start out as a swing guard after doing well in Mobile during the 2020 Senior Bowl.

  4. New York Giants: Darnay Holmes, CB, UCLA A+ Grade

New York . The 5-10 198 lb Darnay Holmes has the man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage you want a starting cornerback to have despite his size. In UCLA's home win over Colorado he did a good job with one-on-one matchups versus Colorado receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. Darnay Holmes also did well in Mobile during the 2020 Senior Bowl despite only having 6 deflections from pass breakups and 2 interceptions during the regular season.

Darnay Holmes was at the draft party of Central Florida cornerback Mike Hughes, the Central Florida cornerback that the Vikings spent a 2018 first round pick on. I spoke with him after a Senior Bowl practice and he interviewed well, but I sounded really choppy when speaking into the microphone.

Click this Darnay Holmes Interview to hear an interview featuring the UCLA cornerback. It sounds kind of choppy at the end, but Holmes interviewed well.

  5. Miami Dolphins: Solomon Kindley, LG, Georgia A+ Grade

The 6-4 335 lb Solomon Kindley began his career as a right guard in 2017 where he started 7 games. He moved to left guard in 2018 and maintained his starting role on Georgia's offensive line for two consecutive years. Kindley is versatile enough to play both guard spots. Miami now has Ereck Flowers, Michael Deiter, Robert Hunt, and my favorite of those four guards Solomon Kindley who was my top guard in this draft.

Solomon Kindley played left guard in this game against Notre Dame. Here is a film cut of Georgia's offensive line with Solomon Kindley facing Notre Dame.

  6. Los Angeles Chargers: Joshua Kelley, RB, UCLA A+ Grade

The 5-11 214 lb Joshua Kelley was the best running back I saw during practices in Mobile at the 2020 Senior Bowl. He also ran a 4.49 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine. He can run inside and outside. Has the hands to catch out of the backfield and the ball carrier vision. Pass protection is the one thing I'd like to see Kelley improve, but he's got enough talent to contribute in this offense.

Joshua Kelley had 225 carries, 1,243 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 27 receptions, 193 receiving yards, 252 touches, and 1,433 total yards in 2018. Kelley had 229 carries, 1,060 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 11 receptions, 71 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 240 touches, 1,131 total yards, and 13 total touchdowns in 2019.

Worst case scenario, you got a third string running back to Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson. Best case scenario you got a guy who can start at running back and take pressure off of Justin Herbert.

  7. Carolina Panthers: Troy Pride Jr., CB, Notre Dame A+ Grade

The 5-11 193 lb Troy Pride Jr. had 10 deflections from pass breakups as a boundary cornerback next to Julian Love in 2018. He only had 6 as a field cornerback in 2019. Carolina drafts Troy Pride Jr. as a cornerback who can play across from Donte Jackson since he has experience at both field and boundary cornerback.

Troy Pride Jr. has NFL speed that scouts love. He also understands cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, and cover 4 coverage schemes. In fact during one of the Senior Bowl practices, I overheard Troy Pride Jr. communicating with another defensive back about these schemes when he was on the bench during 7-on-7's. So even if Troy Pride Jr. is a backup he can act as a players coach and a defensive backs coach since he's a very smart player.

  8. Arizona Cardinals: Leki Fotu, NT, Utah B- Grade

Arizona needed a 3-4 right end to replace Rodney Gunter. They got Leki Fotu as a nose tackle for depth behind Jordan Phillips which is why this pick gets a B- grade even though I had him going a little later than this. This was also one of my top two defensive tackles on the board.

  9. Cleveland Browns: Harrison Bryant, TE, Florida Atlantic A- Grade

I had two tight ends graded higher than the John Mackey Award winner. Harrison Bryant can compete with Austin Hooper and David Njoku for a potential starter spot. Even if you get a depth player you are getting a very good depth player.

Lane Kiffin took this guy, once a 1-star recruit with 1 FBS offer to Florida Atlantic and coached him into a John Mackey Award Winner. Just imagine what Josh McDaniels will do with him.

Harrison Bryant had 65 receptions, 1,004 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2019. Bryant gives Cleveland an impact tight end in the draft.

Click this Harrison Bryant Interview to hear a press conference featuring the 2019 John Mackey Award Winner from Florida Atlantic.

  10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ben Bartch, LT, Saint John's A+ Grade

Ben Bartch was the top left tackle on the board. You get him for depth behind Cam Robinson at left tackle and Jawaan Taylor at right tackle. He did well at left tackle during practices at the 2020 Senior Bowl.

  11. Minnesota Vikings: D.J. Wonnum, ROLB, South Carolina B Grade

The 6-5 254 lb D.J. Wonnum was a pass rusher and team captain at South Carolina. If he's an outside linebacker for depth its a C grade and if he's starting next to Danielle Hunter this pick is a huge steal.

  12. Denver Broncos: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri A+ Grade

Denver took Noah Fant in the first round. Now they get a very good number two tight end to compliment Fant.

The 6-6 258 lb Albert Okwuebunam had 23 career touchdowns in three seasons at Missouri. His 26 receptions, 306 receptions, and 6 receiving touchdowns in 2019 were a career low without Drew Lock. Now he's re-united with Lock in Denver.

Albert Okwuegbunam ran a 4.49 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine. He is talented enough to go here and be a second tight end that plays next to Noah Fant.

  13. Atlanta Falcons: Mykal Walker, MLB, Fresno State D Grade

He wasn't on my draft board. Atlanta is getting him as a backup to Deion Jones which is why this is a D grade instead of an F grade.

  14. New York Jets: La'Mical Perine, RB, Florida B- Grade

La'Mical Perine did well in the 2020 Senior Bowl. I got a video conference of him after the Senior Bowl and you are getting him as a backup to Le'Veon Bell.

  15. Detroit Lions: Logan Stenberg, LG, Kentucky A Grade

The 6-6 317 lb Logan Stenberg was Kentucky's best offensive lineman the last two years. Stenberg has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking footwork, and zone blocking to be this teams future starting left guard.

He just needs to improve his strength on blocks. I am not putting any stock into his 40-time since he impressed me on tape while doing well during practices at the 2020 Senior Bowl. Worst case scenario you get a very good backup left guard for depth and best case scenario you get a starting left guard.

  16. Indianapolis Colts: Jacob Eason, QB, Washington A Grade

The Colts had Philip Rivers and Jacoby Brissett. Basically Brissett and Eason are competing to be Rivers backup here. I had Fromm graded higher even though Eason is a great value pick despite losing the job at Georgia to Fromm.

The 6-6 231 lb Jacob Eason can make every type of throw when it comes to arm strength and showcasing his accuracy on tape. He can only make 3 progressions when going through his reads before taking off and running. He cannot make six progressions and that's why he will be a backup until he fixes that despite winning his bowl game without left tackle Trey Adams.

  17. Dallas Cowboys: Reggie Robinson II, CB, Tulsa A- Grade

The 6-1 202 lb Reggie Robinson II was the field cornerback at Tulsa in 2019. Reggie Robinson II had 13 deflections from pass breakups and 4 interceptions.

Reggie Robinson II has okay man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage skills. These skills could become great with the right coaching.

Reggie Robinson II ran a 4.44 40-time and did 22-reps on the bench press at the 2020 NFL Combine. Dallas can draft Reggie Robinson II to compete for a starting cornerback job. The Cowboys now have Trevon Diggs, Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown, and Reggie Robinson II who could potentially be a nickel guy within a year.

  18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Anthony McFarland Jr., RB, Maryland F Grade

Pittsburgh had James Conner, Benny Snell Jr., and Jaylen Samuels. They have more upside than Anthony McFarland Jr. Also WTAE Pittsburgh censored my tv on ABC for five seconds when the Steelers announced their picks so I'm giving both the Steelers and WTAE F grades just for the record.

Usually Pittsburgh sports media companies show bias towards the local teams, but they censored the tv right when the Steelers picked Anthony McFarland Jr. which is why the Steelers and WTAE Pittsburgh are both getting F grades. That being said as someone who dislikes the Steelers I want to help WTAE stick it to KDKA, WPGH, and WPXI.

  19. New York Jets: James Morgan, QB, Florida International C Grade

New York gets the 2020 East West Shrine Game MVP here as a backup to Sam Darnold. Even though Morgan was fourteen out of fifteen on my quarterback rankings, he has more exposure than most quarterbacks and he did better than some of the quarterbacks that I saw in MObile.

  20. Houston Texans: Charlie Heck, RT, North Carolina A Grade

Charlie Heck gives Houston a swing tackle for depth behind left tackle Laremy Tunsil and right tackle Tytus Howard. He has experience at both offensive tackle roles making this a very good pick.

The 6-8 309 lb Charlie Heck lined up at left tackle and right tackle at North Carolina. Heck's pass protection made things easier for freshman quarterback Sam Howell who is projected to be the top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

  21. Philadelphia Eagles: K'Von Wallace, FS, Clemson A- Grade

The Eagles are replacing Malcolm Jenkins with a fifth round safety that projects as a backup in the NFL, but to be fair he is my third best safety on the board behind Jalen Elliott and JR Reed which is why this warrants a C+ grade. I guess the Eagles can give Wallace a shot, but I'm not confident in him as a starter so if he starts right away, Philadelphia will have to upgrade this area. Wallace has better tape than Tanner Muse who the Raiders reached for in the third round. My friend in Markus who loves the Eagles loves this pick so that's why I am bumping this up to an A- grade after initially giving this pick a C+ grade.

  22. Buffalo Bills: Gabriel Davis, WR, Central Florida C Grade

The 6-2 216 lb Gabriel Davis has great game speed on tape despite his 4.52 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine. He got by Pittsburgh cornerback Dane Jackosn on a play where Jackson took the wrong angle in coverage. Davis struggled against Jackson on other plays, but Buffalo needed depth behind Stefon Diggs, John Brown, and Cole Beasley.

Gabriel Davis had 72 receptions, 1,241 receiving yards, and 12 receiving touchdowns in 2019. Davis also had 4 consecutive 100 yard games against Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Connecticut, and East Carolina. That kind of consistency is why Mark Sciubba spoke highly of Davis. Mark had the most accurate NFL Mock Draft in 2019 with 16 correct picks and Mark's favorite team is the Bills so he's happy about this pick even though there are a lot of receivers on the board that have better value.

  23. New York Jets: Cameron Clark, LT, Charlotte D Grade

New York took a backup offensive tackle here. Mekhi Becton, George Fant, and Chuma Edoga will all be ahead of Cameron Clark on the depth chart. I had this guy at 253 so this pick gets a D grade.

  24. Minnesota Vikings: James Lynch, DT, Baylor C+ Grade

The 6-4 289 lb James Lynch has the body of a 3-4 defensive end, but played 4-3 defensive tackle at Baylor. Minnesota needed multiple defensive tackles so even though I had an early sixth round grade on him, he's a guy who helps the Vikings in the mid to late part of the fourth round.

  25. Arizona Cardinals: Rashard Lawrence, 3-4 RE, LSU A+ Grade

Arizona gets their replacemetn to Rodney Gunter at 3-4 right end here. The 6-2 308 lb Rashard Lawrence had 10.5 tackles for a loss in 2018. While Lawrence did not match that total in 2019, he showed the versatility to play 4-3 right end, 4-3 defensive tackle, 4-3 left end, 3-4 right end, 3-4 nose tackle, and 3-4 left end. Lawrence can line up anywhere on a defensive line regardless of whether its a 4-3 or a 3-4 scheme.

He lined up as an edge rusher and got by Andrew Thomas on one play in the SEC Championship Game. Putting him next to Grady Jarrett does wonders for this defensive line since Lawrence can rush the passer, stop the run, drop back into coverage, and play anywhere on a 4-3 defensive line with his versatility. To top that off, Lawrence is a four down defensive tackle.

  26. Minnesota Vikings: Troy Dye, LOLB, Oregon A+ Grade

The 6-3 231 lb Troy Dye can line up anywhere at linebacker in a 4-3 defense at 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, or 4-3 left outside linebacker. He can also play 3-4 middle linebacker. Dye can rush the quarterback, stop the run, or drop back into coverage.

Dye had 52 solo tackles, 32 assisted tackles, 84 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, 4 deflections from pass breakups, and 2.5 sacks in 2019. Dye opened 2019 with 10 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles, and 15 total tackles in Oregon's season opener against Auburn. Troy Dye is Oregon's best linebacker since Kiko Alonso.

Minnesota has Anthony Barr at 4-3 right outside linebacker, Eric Kendricks at 4-3 middle linebacker, and Ben Gedeon at 4-3 left outside linebacker. Gedeon and Dalvin Cook both enter contract years. If Minnesota wants to re-sign Cook, they will most likely have to let Gedeon walk since they already gave Barr and Kendricks long-term extensions.

  27. Seattle Seahawks: Colby Parkinson, TE, Stanford B- Grade

The 6-7 252 lb tight end was one of the better tight ends at the 2020 NFL Combine. Seattle gets a tight end for depth behind Greg Olsen and Will Dissly.

  28. Atlanta Falcons: Jaylinn Hawkins, SS, California D Grade

Atlanta needed a safety for depth. This guy wasn't on my board and that's the only reason I'm not giving the Falcons an F grade. Atlanta still didn't draft a 4-3 right end, but maybe they will put Dante Fowler Jr. in that role.

  29. Pittsburgh Steelers: Kevin Dotson, LG, Louisiana-Lafayette F Grade

Pittsburgh got a mediocre backup who is even worse than his teammate Robert Hunt. This was an area of need, but there were much better guards still on the board like Shane Lemieux out of Oregon and Bed Bredson out of Michigan. Even guys like Jake Hanson out of Oregon and Cole Cabral for depth behind Pouncey would have been better selections than Kevin Dotson.

  30. Los Angeles Rams: Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue A+ Grade

Brycen Hopkins was on the board. They got Gerald Everett and Tyler Higbee. Everett is in a contract year and Higbee got extended even though Everett is the starting tight end. That tells me that the Rams are gonna use Hopkins for depth this season and if he does well enough to see the field that Everett will be a Free Agent in 2021 since Higbee got extended until 2024.

Brycen Hopkins had 61 receptions, 830 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2019. Hopkins outplayed both underclassmen Cole Kmet and Albert Okwuegbunam with his production during his senior season. Hopkins also ran a 4.66 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine which was faster than Kmet's 4.70 40-time.

Click this Brycen Hopkins Interview to hear a press conference featuring Purdue's tight end.

  31. Jacksonville Jaguars: Josiah Scott, CB, Michigan State A Grade

Jacksonville has C.J. Henderson and D.J. Hayden as their starting cornerbacks. A nickel for depth was needed and Josiah Scott is a fantastic pick for that nickel role. This cornerback trio could be effective if all three of these guys stay healthy. Otherwise this team will get picked apart.

The 5-9 185 lb Josiah Scott had 7 deflections from pass breakups and 3 interceptions in 2019 as Michigan State's field cornerback after previously being the boundary cornerback next to Justin Layne in 2018. Layne was drafted by Pittsburgh in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Josiah Scott can play on the outside. With his body and size he may be a better fit for a nickel cornerback role at the next level though.

  32. Kansas City Chiefs: L'Jarius Sneed, SS, Louisiana Tech A+ Grade

The 6-0 192 lb L'Jarius Sneed ran a 4.37 40-time and has the versatility to play both strong safety and free safety. He played cornerback before that. Sneed gives the Chiefs depth at both cornerback and safety. I had a third round grade on him.

  33. Las Vegas Raiders: Amik Robertson, CB, Louisiana Tech A Grade

Tampa Bay got this compensation pick at 139 thanks to Kwon Alexander signing with the San Francisco 49ers. They traded it to New England for Rob Gronkowski and pick 241. Then New England sent this pick to the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 5-9 187 lb Amik Robertson played both field and boundary cornerback at Louisiana Tech. Robertson ran a 4.45 40-time, but needs to improve his press coverage. The Raiders get him as a nickel cornerback to Damon Arnette and Trayvon Mullen. Also getting Robertson as a nickel here is way better value than Arnette at 19. Robertson is gonna be competing with Nick Nelson their 2018 third round pick for that job.

  34. Jacksonville Jaguars: Shaq Quarterman, MLB, Miami FL A+ Grade

Chicago got this compensation pick at 140 thanks to Adrian Amos signing with the Green Bay Packers. They traded this pick to Jacksonville for Nick Foles though.

Myles Jack, Joe Schobert, and K'Lavon Chaisson are the starting linebackers. The 6-0 234 lb Shaq Quarterman can play 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, or 4-3 left outside linebacker with his versatility. Jacksonville is getting a good depth player at linebacker.

  35. Houston Texans: John Reid, CB, Penn State D+ Grade

Miami got this compensation pick at 141 thanks to Ju'Wuan James signing with the Denver Broncos. Houston somehow ended up with this pick.

Houston reached here. John Reid is a cornerback for depth for Houston to add. He wasn't on my board and this would be an F grade for me. Houston needed one more cornerback for depth and Bill O'Brien went to Penn State which is the only reason why this pick got a D+ grade with so many better corners left on the board.

  36. Washington Redskins: Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR, Liberty A Grade

Washington got this compensation pick at 142 thanks to Jamison Crowder signing with the New York Jets.

Antonio Gandy-Golden had 69 receptions, 1,066 receiving yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns in 2017. Antonio Gandy-Golden had 71 receptions, 1,037 receiving yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns in 2018. Antonio Gandy-Golden had 79 receptions, 1,376 receiving yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns.

Antonio Gandy-Golden raved about the impact Stephen Calvert had in Mobile when I spoke with him after a Senior Bowl practice. I like Antonio Gandy-Golden coming out of Liberty and he will make the Redskins roster even if he's a depth player at first. He is good enough to start, but we'll see what he does in Training Camp.

  37. Baltimore Ravens: Ben Bredeson, LG, Michigan A Grade

Baltimore got this compensation pick at 143 thanks to John Brown signing with the Buffalo Bills. Baltimore sent this pick in addition to tight end Hayden Hurst to Atlanta.

The 6-5 315 lb left guard has 10-inch hands. His big hand size will make it easier for Michigan's four year starter at left guard to have an impact at the next level since Bredeson is talented enough to start at left guard. Baltimore needed a right guard, even though he's a four year starter at left guard. He can create competition for Ben Powers.

  38. Seattle Seahawks: DeeJay Dallas, RB, Miami FL D+ Grade

Seattle got this compensation pick at 144 thanks to Justin Coleman signing with the Detroit Lions.

Seattle got DeeJay Dallas the backup to Travis Homer at Miami FL as a running back for depth. This pick gets a D+ grade since Seattle needed a running back for depth after what happened last season even if its not a guy on my board.

  39. Philadelphia Eagles: Jack Driscoll, RT, Auburn A+ Grade

Philadelphia got this compensation pick at 145 thanks to Jordan Hicks signing with the Arizona Cardinals.

The 6-5 306 lb Jack Driscoll is Auburn's best pass blocker at right tackle despite playing with left tackle Prince Tega Wanagho. Driscoll kept both Terrell Lewis and Jonathan Greenard in check when starting at right tackle for Auburn in 2019. K'Lavon Chaisson had Driscoll's number though. Philadelphia gets a right tackle for depth behind Lane Johnson, and Driscoll looks like a good starter so to get him for depth behind Lane Johnson is a terrific pick.

  40. Dallas Cowboys: Tyler Biadasz, C, Wisconsin A+ Grade

Philadelphia got this compensation pick at 146 thanks to Golden Tate signing with the New York Giants. Dallas moved up to 146.

The 6-4 314 lb Tyler Biadasz makes a huge steal here in the second round. He is a guy with a first round grade that did not work out the 2020 NFL Combine. Dallas needed a replacement to Travis Frederick and they reload with another Wisconsin center.

Tyler Biadasz played left tackle, 4-3 right end, and 4-3 left end in High School before he enrolled into Wisconsin where he redshirted before starting at center for three years. Dallas will have Tyron Smith at left tackle, Connor Williams at left guard, Tyler Biadasz at center, Zack Martin at right guard, and La'El Collins at right tackle.
