2020 NFL Draft Results

Round 1 Picks 17-32

CeeDee Lamb fell to the back half of the first round. Find out who got him.

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: April 23, 2020.

  1. Dallas Cowboys: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma A+ Grade

Dallas had Amari Cooper and a receiver that exceeded 1,000 receiving yards with Michael Gallup. CeeDee Lamb fell to 17 and Dallas went for value over need by getting a blue chip receiver at 17.

CeeDee Lamb did well in the three games where I watched Oklahoma on Bitchute. He got by five Texas defenders and caught some deep balls that Jalen Hurts threw his way. He even caught some balls that Hurts underthrew on tape which should speak volumes about his game.

Lamb played with Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts in his three seasons at Oklahoma. Playing with a new quarterback each year allowed Lamb to grow as a person while performing at a high level.

The 6-2 198 lb CeeDee Lamb had 65 receptions, 1,158 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns in 2018. CeeDee Lamb had 62 receptions, 1,327 receiving yards, and 14 receiving touchdowns in 2019. CeeDee Lamb can compliment Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup who exceeded 1,000 receiving yards last year.

  2. Miami Dolphins: Austin Jackson, LT, USC A- Grade

The 6-6 311 lb Austin Jackson is picked here as Miami gets a blindside to Tua Tagovailoa. Austin Jackson is a slight reach at 18, but its better value than any offensive tackle not named Andrew Thomas or Tristan Wirfs.

Austin Jackson played left tackle, right tackle, 4-3 right end, 4-3 defensive tackle, and 4-3 left end in High School at North Canyon before enrolling into USC where he was a swing tackle in 2017 before taking the blindside job in 2018 and maintaining that job for two full seasons. Austin Jackson is better at left tackle, but has the skill set to move over to the right side and play right tackle if you need him to.

Jackson has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork and run blocking footwork. He needs to add some muscle and get stronger without losing a step in his footwork. The fact that Austin Jackson can play both offensive tackle spots with his versatility like Andrew Thomas and Tristan Wirfs makes me more comfortable about drafting him in the first round since he struggled agaisnt Utah's 4-3 right end Bradlee Anae.

  3. Las Vegas Raiders: Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State D Grade

Las Vegas reached at another position of need. Damon Arnette out of Ohio State was the boundary cornerback on Ohio State next to Jeffrey Okudah. The Raiders took a corner that I had a third round grade on at 19.

The Las Vegas Raiders passed on Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb at 12. Now they pass on Kristian Fulton and Trevon Diggs at 19.

The Raiders have two boundary corners with Arnette and Mullen since I had Mullen graded higher than Arnette. They still need a field cornerback.

  4. Jacksonville Jaguars: K'Lavon Chaisson, LOLB, LSU C Grade

I had a first round grade on Yannick Ngakoue. I had a second round grade on Chaisson. If they use him as a defensive end this is a D grade and if they put him at 4-3 left outside linebacker next to Myles Jack at 4-3 right outside linebacker, Joe Schobert at middle linebacker, and K'Lavon Chaisson at 4-3 left outside linebacker.

The 6-3 254 lb K'Lavon Chaisson has 34 solo tackles, 26 assisted tackles, 60 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks, and 6 quarterback hurries in 2019. K'Lavon Chaisson had his way with both of Auburn's offensive tackles. Auburn right tackle Jack Driscoll kept Terrell Lewis in check which is why K'Lavon Chaisson is a reach at 20.

  5. Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU B Grade

Grant Delpit, Justin Jefferson, Tee Higgins, and Denzel Mims all would have been better selections at 21 than Jalen Reagor. Jalen Reagor is a good replacement to Nelson Agholor, but he's not someone who can push Alshon Jeffery for that number one receiver job which is what the Eagles needed. That's why this pick gets a B grade.

The 5-11 206 lb Jalen Reagor had 72 receptions, 1,061 receiving yards, and 9 receiving touchdowns in 2018. Reagor only had 43 receptions, 611 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns in 2020. His explosive speed and deep play ability speaks for itself. Reagor ran a 4.47 40-time while Laviska Shenault Jr. was injured which is one reason why Reagor ended up in Philadelphia.

  6. Minnesota Vikings: Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU A Grade

The 6-1 202 lb Justin Jefferson had 111 receptions, 1,540 receiving yards, and 18 receiving touchdowns in 2019 playing next to Billetnikoff Award winner Ja'Marr Chase. Kirk Cousins has Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson to throw to as they replace Diggs with Jefferson.

  7. Los Angeles Chargers: Kenneth Murray, MLB, Oklahoma A- Grade

Kenneth Murray allows you to move Denzel Perryman as an outside linebacker. They also have Uchenna Nwosu and Nick Vigil.

The 6-2 241 lb Kenneth Murray can tackle, stop the run, and drop back into coverage to defend against the pass. Murray can line up at 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, or 3-4 middle linebacker with his versatility.

Kenneth Murray had 71 solo tackles, 84 assisted tackles, 155 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, and 4.5 sacks in 2018. Murray had 69 solo tackles, 33 assisted tackles, 102 total tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 5 quarterback hurries, and 4 sacks in 2019.

Kenneth Murray is a great value pick. The Chargers gave up 37 and 71 to New England and now they have Sam Tevi and Bryan Bulaga two okay right tackles, but no blindside for quarterback Justin Herbert which is why the Chargers got an A- grade even though I love Kenneth Murray and mocked him at 23 giving me seven first round picks.

  8. New Orleans Saints: Cesar Ruiz, C, Michigan C+ Grade

The Saints drafted Erik McCoy in the second round as a starter. New Orleans is getting more upside and better value with Ruiz than McCoy, but man this feels like a reach. If McCoy who started 16 games remains at center you just wasted this pick.

The 6-3 307 lb Cesar Ruiz declared for this draft after only allowing 8 pressures on 447 snaps. Pro Football Focus called him the best pass blocking center in this entire draft putting him in prestigious company with Tyler Biadasz and Lloyd Cushenberry III.

  9. San Francisco 49ers: Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State C- Grade

The 49ers gave up way too much to move up for a receiver with 31, 117 from Tampa Bay, and 176 their fifth round pick. If they got Denzel Mims, Tee Higgins, Laviska Shenault Jr., Michael Pittman Jr., or Chase Claypool.

Aiyuk is talented, but I liked N'Keal Harry more coming out of Arizona State and the 49ers took Aiyuk ahead of Harry. Brandon Aiyuk can compliment Deebo Samuel and Dante Pettis, but he doesn't pose a threat to them.

The 5-11 201 lb Brandon Aiyuk is the wide receiver has game breaking speed on tape. He is not the route runner N'Keal Harry is, but some scouts like him more solely due to the fact that his game speed is superior. Aiyuk went to Mobile, but was unable to practice due to injuries. Aiyuk ran a 4.50 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine.

  10. Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State A- Grade

Jake Fromm and Jordan Love were tied for my QB4 with 89 grades. Aaron Rodgers is under contract until 2024 so Love may wait until 2025 to start. Love will sit out two years and could take over in 2022 or 2023 when moving on from Rodgers saves you over $20-million in cap space.

Green Bay gets their quarterback of the future. He is the ideal quarterback to groom behind Aaron Rodgers. A lot of mock drafts have Jordan Love as the top ranked quarterback not named Joe Burrow or Tua Tagovailoa. Love fixed his one big issue with deep ball accuracy at the 2020 NFL Combine and is now in the conversation to be drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 6-4 223 lb Jordan Love dominated in 2018 with 3,567 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and a 64% completion percentage. Jordan Love lost most of his supporting cast on offense including his offensive coordinator, all five offensive linemen, two wide receivers, and two running backs.

Jordan Love only had 3,402 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 17 interceptions, and a 61.9 completion percentage in 2019. He can make five progressions on tape which is more than what Jacob Eason can do with only three progressions. Love has a tendency to check down and throw to the first guy he sees open which can be both good and bad. He also has the quickest release among any quarterback in this draft with 1.2 seconds to throw the football. His release is quicker than Andrew Luck or Baker Mayfield.

I watched three games of Jordan Love on tape versus LSU, Boise State, and Kent State. Jordan Love had good short and medium accuracy. I did not see one accurate 40-yard throw in those three games. Love also struggled with 40-yard throws during Senior Bowl practices as well as the game as both of his incompletions were deep throws. Love fixed this though at the 2020 NFL Combine and that's why he now has a first round grade.

Jordan Love reminds me of Colin Kaepernick coming out of Nevada. Green Bay has their quarterback of the future behind Aaron Rodgers.

  11. Seattle Seahawks: Jordyn Brooks, LOLB, Texas Tech B- Grade

Seattle now has K.J. Wright at 4-3 right outside linebacker, Bobby Wagner at 4-3 middle linebacker, and Jordyn Brooks at 4-3 left outside linebacker. Not sure why Seattle took Brooks here, but you can argue he's a better scheme fit for Seattle than Patrick Queen.

Jordyn Brooks had 66 solo tackles, 42 assisted tackles, 108 total tackles, 20 tackles for a loss, 12 quarterback hurries, and 3 sacks in 2019. Brooks can get pressure on the quarterback, stop the run, or drop back into coverage effectively.

  12. Baltimore Ravens: Patrick Queen, 3-4 MLB, LSU A+ Grade

Baltimore needed a 3-4 middle linebacker. This is a fantastic value pick here as the Ravens got the top 3-4 middle linebacker on the board.

The 6-0 229 lb Patrick Queen had 37 solo tackles, 48 assisted tackles, 85 total tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, and 2 deflections from pass breakups in 2019. Queen has the speed, run stopping, and ability to drop back into coverage. Patrick Queen needs to do a better job of wrapping up tackles as he missed some tackles on tape versus Alabama. He also relied on his speed and athleticism when getting past the line of scrimmage versus Alabama so getting stronger is something Queen needs to do.

Patrick Queen can play 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, or 3-4 middle linebacker with his versatility. Baltimore got the best player at the biggest position of need.

  13. Tennessee Titans: Isaiah Wilson, RT, Georgia B Grade

Tennessee gets a right tackle to replace Jack Conklin and they reached with Wilson when there were two other guys in Josh Jones and Saahdiq Charles. The 6-7 340 lb Isaiah Wilson makes total sense here since he has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, an run blocking footwork of a right tackle. He improved his pass blocking strength and run blocking strength in 2019.

Isaiah Wilson played right tackle in this game against Notre Dame. Here is a film cut of Georgia's offensive line with Isaiah Wilson facing Notre Dame.

  14. Miami Dolphins: Noah Igbinoghene, CB, Auburn D- Grade

The 5-10 198 lb Noah Igbinoghene held Jerry Jeudy to 5 receptions for 26 receiving yards. He also gave up 204 receiving yards to Tyler Johnson. He has the upside and potential to start right away, but his tape is extremely inconsistent which is why I have Igbinoghene falling to day 3.

Miami has Xavien Howard and Byron Jones. This guy is a fourth round prospect on my board and Miami can get him as a nickel cornerback.

  15. Minnesota Vikings: Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU A Grade

The 5-10 191 lb Jeff Gladney was the toughest opponent Denzel Mims faced. Mims mentioned Gladney as his toughest opponent during his interview. Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb said the same thing. Minnesota now has Mike Hughes and Jeff Gladney as their cornerback tandem.

Jeff Gladney had 13 deflections from pass breakups in 2018. Gladney had 14 deflections from pass breakups in 2019.

  16. Kansas City Chiefs: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU B Grade

I had De'Andre Swift, Jonathan Taylor, J.K. Dobbins, and Cam Akers ahead of him. Still, Clyde Edwards-Helaire does everything well on tape which is why this is a B grade.

The 5-7 207 lb running back is smaller than I thought. He ran a 4.60 40-time at the 2020 NFL Combine. Kansas City looks past his speed and size and takes LSU's bruiser in the backfield at 32.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire can run with speed, catch out of the backfield, use his ball carrier vision, and pass block effectively. He does everything well on tape, but his combine may cause his stock to slip a bit.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire had 215 carries, 1,414 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 55 receptions, 431 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 270 touches, 1,845 total yards, and 17 total touchdowns in 2019.
