Morgan Epstein grades the Seattle Seahawks 2016 NFL Draft. Does Seattle have a bright future after drafting Germain Ifedi with the thirty first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft?
31. Germain Ifedi, RG, Texas A&M A- Grade
Germain Ifedi will replace J.R. Sweezy at right guard right away. Ifedi was supposed to replace Okung at left tackle, but they moved him to right tackle knowing he was a better run blocker. Now Ifedi has kicked inside to guard which is why Seattle got an A- grade despite getting an immediate starter in Ifedi.
49. Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama B Grade
Jarran Reed is a backup 4-3 defensive tackle to Ahtyba Rubin. This is actually a solid selection which provides excellent value in the second round.
90. C.J. Prosise, RB, Notre Dame C Grade
C.J. Prosise is a solid third string running back to Thomas Rawls and Christine Michael. I will give Seattle a C grade here.
94. Nick Vannett, TE, Ohio State C Grade
Nick Vannett is a third string tight end to Jimmy Graham and Luke Wilson. This is a solid pick here in the third round.
97. Rees Odhiambo, RG, Boise State F Grade
Seattle wasted a third round pick on a third string right guard. That's why Seattle got an F grade here.
147. Quinton Jefferson, DT, Maryland F Grade
Seattle wasted this pick on a third string defensive tackle. The Seahawks get an F grade for that.
171. Alex Collins, RB, Arkansas C Grade
Alex Collins is a fourth string running back. He had three consecutive seasons of over 1,000 rushing yards at Arkansas and that's why this is a solid pick worthy of a C grade..
Church is dealing with an arm injury so Frazier is getting some first team reps in. Kavon Frazier will get an opportunity to start at safety if Barry Church struggles in 2016.
215. Joey Hunt, C, TCU D Grade
Joey Hunt is a third string center on TCU's depth chart. This pick felt like a reach.
243. Kenny Lawler, WR, California B Grade
Kenny Lawler is the #5 receiver on Seattle's depth chart. He's pushing for the #4 spot and provides depth behind Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse, and Tyler Lockett as a backup.
247. Zac Brooks, RB, Clemson F Grade
Zac Brooks is a fifth string running back. This pick is clearly an F grade since Wayne Gallman is better on tape than Brooks.
Seattle Seahawks Team Grade: C- Grade
Pete Carroll won Super Bowl 48 two years ago. Seattle won't be as strong at offensive tackle with Russell Okung gone. The scary thing is if Russell Wilson goes down with an injury undrafted rookie Trevone Boykin will be Seattle's starting quarterback if Wilson goes on injured reserve.
