2021 NFL Group Mock Draft: 2 Rounds

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: March 11, 2021.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Teven Jenkins, RT, Oklahoma State

Joseph Potter: Jacksonville gets their replacement to Cam Robinson at left tackle here. Teven Jenkins has a consensus first round grade plus he's versatile enough to play both left tackle and right tackle. He neutralized Joseph Ossai on both sides against Texas. He did a great job run blocking for Chuba Hubbard stopping Ossai. He also did well in pass protection in Mobile.

  2. New York Jets: Joseph Ossai, 3-4 ROLB, Texas

Oren Shiri: New York grabs a 3-4 right outside linebacker who can impose his will on opposing left tackles. Joseph Ossai looks like a first round prospect on tape so to get him here at 34 after getting a left tackle and wide receiver to compliment Denzel Mims is incredible value.

  3. Atlanta Falcons: Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina

Chris Ransom: Atlanta needs a starting running back with Todd Gurley set to become a Free Agent. Javonte Williams shows flashes of a young Nick Chubb. He's also more durable than Chubb was coming out of Georgia. I love mocking offensive players in round 2 to teams that take quarterbacks in the first round.

  4. Miami Dolphins: Creed Humphrey, C, Oklahoma

Jason Bantle: Ted Karras is a Free Agent at center. Miami uses this pick on the top center in the 2021 NFL Draft.

  5. Philadelphia Eagles: Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia

Joseph Potter: The following paragraphs below are Chris Ransom's writeup on Eric Stokes from the second round of his mock draft. He's who I have going to the Eagles here as well since Stokes is a cornerback who warrants late first round consideration.

Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell are both second round prospects. Stokes is better in coverage, but Campbell is projected to go higher by some mainly due to his speed.

I gave Eric Stokes an A- grade in man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage. He only gave up 1 touchdown all season and that was to Devonta Smith against Alabama. Eric Stokes had a 0.51 yards per coverage snap which was second among cornerbacks in 2020.

  6. Cincinnati Bengals: Wyatt Davis, RG, Ohio State

Jason Bantle: The Cincinnati Bengals need offensive line help. After taking Micah Parsons in the first round, the Bengals use this pick to secure the top guard prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft.

  7. Carolina Panthers: Levi Onwuzurike, DT, Washington

Jason Bantle: Carolina cut Kawaan Short. They grab a starter who can compliment their 2020 first round pick Derrick Brown here since the Carolina Panthers run a 4-3 defense.

  8. Denver Broncos: Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern

Chris Ransom: The 6-1 190 lb Greg Newsome II got an A- grade from me in man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage. He has durability concerns which is why he dropped to the second round. He's pretty lethal when healthy though. Just imagine how good he can be next to someone as talented as Caleb Farley.

  9. Detroit Lions: Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida

Chris Ransom: I have a first round grade on Kadarius Toney. Obviously this is a no brainer selection for the Detroit Lions from a value standpoint.

  10. New York Giants: Carlos Basham Jr., 3-4 RE, Wake Forest

Oren Shiri: New York drafts Carlos Basham Jr. as a replacement to Leonard Williams. Carlos Basham Jr. is mainly a 4-3 defensive end, but is versatile enough to play 3-4 defensive end if you watch his tape.

  11. San Francisco 49ers: Asante Samuel Jr., CB, Florida State

Joseph Potter: The son of Asante Samuel gets drafted by John Lynch as a replacement to Richard Sherman. San Francisco needs multiple cornerbacks after drafting Rashawn Slater to replace Trent Williams in the first round.

  12. Dallas Cowboys: Liam Eichenberg, LT, Notre Dame

Chris Ransom: Dallas gets a swing tackle for depth. Both Tyron Smith and La'El Collins dealt with season ending injuries in 2020. Liam Eichenberg out of Notre Dame provides solid insurance.

  13. Jacksonville Jaguars: Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida State

Joseph Potter: Jacksonville gets a challenger for a starting defensive tackle spot here. Marvin Wilson provides some competition for Davon Hamilton the Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 third round pick out of Ohio State. Remember, Wilson was once considered a higher prospect than both Derrick Brown and Javon Kinlaw before a bad 2020 season along with a bad week at the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl.

  14. New England Patriots: Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State

Chris Ransom: New England gets a tight end here. Pat Friermuuth entered the season as the top tight end in the 2021 NFL Draft before Kyle Pitts dominated in 2020 and surpassed him on every draft board.

The 6-5 256 lb Pat Freirmuth had a career high 8 receiving touchdowns as a true freshman taking over for Mike Gesicki in 2018. Pat Friermuth 43 receptions, 507 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2019. His 7 receptions for 101 receiving yards against Antoine Winfield Jr. and the Minnesota Golden Gophers was one of his signature games in 2019.

Pat Friermuth would have been the top tight end selected and a first round tight end in the 2020 NFL Draft if he declared last year. Pat Friermuth went back to school and had 23 receptions, 310 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown in 4 games before tearing his ACL.

Pat Friermuth has great hands and can get yards after the catch when healthy. Also if Friermuth needs time to recover from his injury, that gives Devin Asiasi more time.

  15. Los Angeles Chargers: Richie Grant, FS, Central Florida

Chris Ransom: Richie Grant is one of my favorite safeties in this draft. He's someone who could honestly be a nice starter for the Los Angeles Chargers at safety if Derwin James continues to deal with injuries.

Plus, there was a chance our division rival, the Las Vegas Raiders would have picked Grant which is why I mocked him to the Chargers for fun in this group mock. They draft a free safety named Richie Grant out of Central Florida who has the best backpedal I've seen on tape from a safety since Eric Berry came out of Tennessee for the 2010 NFL Draft. Richie Grant had 69 solo tackles, 40 assisted tackles, and 109 total tackles in 2018. Grant really showcased his superb coverage along with 8 deflections from pass breakups in 2019.

The 6-0 194 lb Richie Grant made K.J. Costello look like a day 3 pick on tape last year in one of Costello's worst starts at Stanford prior to transferring to Mississippi State. Richie Grant can play man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage. He can play in cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, and cover 4 schemes. He can also line up at cornerback, strong safety, or free safety playing defensive back everywhere on the secondary. He also got a 90 grade for run stuffing among safeties which is best in the 2021 NFL Draft among safety prospects.

Previous Pick: Shaun Wade, CB, Ohio State

  16. Las Vegas Raiders: Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama

Oren Shiri: The Las Vegas Raiders are in desperate need for pressure up front and looking for the right man to step in is not easy to fill. Christian Barmore fills the missing hole Las Vegas needs on defense a big explosive defensive lineman.

He shows incredible pass rush moves and will make his presence known in the NFL. Something the Raiders have been missing on the defensive line for the past few years.

  17. Arizona Cardinals: Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia

Jason Bantle: Tyson Campbell is projected to go ahead of his teammate Eric Stokes in some mock drafts at cornerback. With Arizona losing Patrick Peterson and Dre Kirkpatrick to Free Agency, they draft a cornerback here after choosing to cut Patrick Peterson. Cutting Peterson freed up cap room for J.J. Watt so if they can find a cornerback as good as Peterson in either Free Agency or the draft, then Cardinals fans will have nothing to complain about.

  18. Miami Dolphins: Ar'darius Washington, FS, TCU

Jason Bantle: At one point, TCU free safety Ar'darius Washington was projected to be picked higher in mock drafts before his teammate Trevor Moehrig. With Moehrig's two dominant seasons at TCU, he's the top safety in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, his teammate Washington is nobody you should be sleeping on

  19. Washington Football Team: Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue

Joseph Potter: Washington needs a receiver to compliment Terry McLaurin. Coincidentally, Chris Ransom also mocked Moore to Washington and that is who I have the Washington Football Team taking with this second round pick. However, I'll spare you Washington fans from having to read the lengthy writeups that the creator of Draft Utopia types up.

  20. Chicago Bears: Jackson Carman, LT, Clemson

Oren Shiri: Chicago gets a swing tackle at offensive tackle. Jackson Carman fits the bill here.

  21. Tennessee Titans: Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU

Oren Shiri: Tennessee grabs a replacement to Corey Davis. Terrace Marshall Jr. took over as LSU's number one target after Ja'Maar Chase opted out due to Covid-19 and after Joe Burrow left the team.

  22. Indianapolis Colts: Quincy Roche, LE, Miami FL

Jason Bantle: Quincy Roche is versatile enough to play on either side at edge rusher going up against both left tackles and right tackles in College. I'm not sure if he'd be a defensive end or linebacker in Indianapolis with his 235 lb body. One thing I will say is he's the best pass rusher at this point in the late second round making him an ideal pick for an Indianapolis Colts team that will need multiple pass rushers if Justin Houston leaves in Free Agency.

  23. Pittsburgh Steelers: Aaron Robinson, CB, Central Florida

Oren Shiri: Pittsburgh can save cap space if they cut both Joe Haden and Steven Nelson. If they do this, another cornerback will need to be drafted. Aaron Robinson is great in both man coverage and press coverage. His zone coverage needs some work, but I see flashes of a younger Richard Sherman so this could be a good pick for Pittsburgh.

  24. Seattle Seahawks: Alijah Vera-Tucker, LG, USC

Oren Shiri: A lot of people have Alijah Vera-Tucker listed as the top guard in this draft. His run blocking is better than his pass blocking, but if he fixes his pass protection, then Alijah Vera-Tucker could end up having the best career of any guard in this draft class.

  25. Los Angeles Rams: Elijah Molden, CB, Washignton

Joseph Potter: The Los Angeles Rams will need someone to compliment Jalen Ramsey if they lose Troy Hill to Free Agency. Elijah Molden is one of the ten best cornerbacks in a very strong 2021 NFL Draft at cornerback.

  26. Baltimore Ravens: Azeez Ojulari, 3-4 ROLB, Georgia

Chris Ransom: Azzez Ojulari is in the top 20 of my mock draft just like Christian Barmore. I'm not sure how the hell we let Ojulari fall to Baltimore, but he's a great option here with both Yannick Nagkoue and Matt Judon being unrestricted Free Agents at 3-4 outside linebacker. Judon turned down $16-million and you could argue he's only worth $10-12 million.

  27. Cleveland Browns: Joe Tyron, LE, Washington

Joseph Potter: Cleveland grabs Joe Tyron here as a player to compliment Myles Garrett at defensive end. Worst case scenario you get a high end backup to Adrian Clayborn. Best case scenario you get a quality starter across from Myles Garrett.

  28. New Orleans Saints: Kyle Trask, QB, Florida

Oren Shiri: The Saints are looking for someone to follow in Drew Brees footsteps of course that won't be an easy task for anyone. Giving Brees an understudy until he decides to hang up his cleats quarterback Kyle Trask a four year starter for the FLorida Gators will learn from one of the greats in the game. Sean Payton finally gets a young man and future leader for his team.

  29. Buffalo Bills: Keith Taylor, CB, Washington

Joseph Potter: Keith Taylor could compliment Tre'Davious White. Josh Norman is a Free Agent and Buffalo will need to get a cornerback to play with White at some point in the 2021 NFL Draft.

  30. Green Bay Packers: Paddy Fisher, 3-4 MLB, Northwestern

Jason Bantle: The Green Bay Packers will need a 3-4 middle linebacker at some point in this draft. Paddy Fisher is one of my favorite players in this draft and would be a good player for Green Bay to take a flyer on here.

  31. Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Jones II, LE, Pittsburgh

Chris Ransom: The 6-4 264 lb Patrick Jones II lined up as a 4-3 right end on the Pittsburgh Panthers. He packs a powerful punch with his 10 inch hands. Patrick Jones II had 25 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 41 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, and 8.5 sacks in 2019. Patrick Jones II had 24 solo tackles, 18 assisted tackles, 42 total tackles, 12.5 tackles ofr a loss, and 9 sacks in 2020.

The Kansas City Chiefs get someone who can compliment Frank Clark. Patrick Jones II can play 4-3 right end or 4-3 left end with his versatility.

Here is our interview of Patrick Jones II from the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl. You can click the link below to listen to that recorded press conference of Pittsburgh defensive end Patrick Jones II.

  32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Amon Ra'St. Brown, WR, USC

Jason Bantle: Tampa Bay may have franchise tagged Chris Godwin. Amon Ra'St. Brown can learn behind Evans and Godwin for a year before challenging Tyler Johnson for the number two receiver job next to Mike Evans in 2022 when Amon Ra'St. Brown enters his sophomore year and when Tyler Johnson enters his third year in the league.
