2021 NFL Group Mock Draft: 2 Rounds

Round 1 Picks 17-32

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: March 11, 2021.

  1. Las Vegas Raiders: Gregory Rosseau, RE, Miami FL

Oren Shiri: The Las Vegas Raiders decide to take a gamble on Rosseau. He has lots of hidden talent and potential after taking 2020 off due to Covid. All he needs is a great defensive minded coach and a strong defensive line coach and he gets that with Gus Bradley and Rod Marinelli to mold him into his full potential. He will immediately line up opposite side of Maxx Crosby to form a superior pass rush that Las Vegas deserpately needs.

This way Clelin Ferrell will move inside an fit better at defensive tackle in the Las Vegas Raiders 4-3 system. Rosseau recorded 15.5 sacks in 2019. He has the potential to become a great player and leader on the field.

  2. Miami Dolphins: Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

Jason Bantle: Most have Najee Harris as the top ranked running back. Travis Etienne is still my top ranked running back in this draft class.

Here is a film cut of Clemson running back Travis Etienne VS Wake Forest. Travis Etienne did well in this game.

  3. Washington Football Team: Alex Leatherwood, LT, Alabama

Joseph Potter: Cornellius Lucas enters a contract year. Even if he begins the 2021 season at left tackle, a new long-term blindside will be needed at some point. Alex Leatherwood just makes the most sense here since you could argue he's a top fifteen talent.

  4. Chicago Bears: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama

Oren Shiri: Chicago finally gets the quarterback upgrade that they desperately need. Mac Jones is a great quarterback for Chicago to take at this spot at 20. He may not have the ceiling of the other quarterbacks in this draft, but he certainly has a higher ceiling than Mitchell Trubisky.

Here is a film cut of Alabama quarterback Mac Jones VS Florida. Mac Jones managed the game well during the 2020 SEC Championship Game.

Here is our interview of Mac Jones from the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl. You can click the link below to listen to that recorded press conference of Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.

  5. Indianapolis Colts: Samuel Cosmi, LT, Texas

Jason Bantle: Indianapolis gets a replacement to Anthony Castonzo at left tackle who recently announced his retirement. Samuel Cosmi is the best offensive tackle on the baord an in extremely deep offensive tackle class.

  6. Tennessee Titans: Kwity Paye, 3-4 LE, Michigan

Oren Shiri: Tennessee takes the best value pick here. Kwity Paye looks like someone who can play defensive end in the 4-3 or the 3-4 scheme. Tennessee gets Paye as a 3-4 left end to compliment their 2019 first round pick Jeffrey Simmons.

  7. New York Jets: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota

Oren Shiri: New York gets a receiver to compliment Denzel Mims here. Rashod Bateman ran a 4.39 40-time at the Exos Combine leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft. That confimrs that Minnesota's wide receiver will be a 2021 first round pick.

  8. Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris, RB, Alabama

Oren Shiri: Pittsburgh gets a running back here to replace James Conner. Najee Harris is the best running back in this draft so Pittsburgh adding him to compliment Ben Roethlisberger will be huge for the Steelers.

Here is a film cut of Alabama running back Najee Harris VS Florida. Najee Harris ran the ball like an All Pro during the 2020 SEC Championship Game.

  9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevon Moehrig, SS, TCU

Joseph Potter: Jacksonville needs a left tackle to replace Cam Robinson, but I felt like all the first round offensive tackles are gone. That's why I used this pick to secure the top safety in the 2021 NFL Draft. Jacksonville does need multiple safeties on defense and by selecting the top safety in this draft at 25 they can at least get one good safety with second year cornerback C.J. Henderson and Trevon Moehrig taking away half of the field.

  10. Cleveland Browns: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, ROLB, Notre Dame

Joseph Potter: Cleveland gets the best player on the board at 26. You can argue that Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is the safest linebacker to draft since Micah Parsons has character issues along with the fact that Zaven Collins isn't well liked by teammates from some reports. The report I heard about Collins having concussions appeared to be false. Still, this doesn't change the fact that Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is the safest linebacker to draft. Personally, I'm thrilled that the Browns landed the safest linebacker at 26.

  11. Baltimore Ravens: Spencer Brown, RT, Northern Iowa

Chris Ransom: Orlando Brown wants to play left tackle on another team. I'm replacing Orlando Brown with Spencer Brown here at 27.

The 6-8 314 lb Spencer Brown did well at right tackle for Northern Iowa. He's been training with former San Francisco 49ers left tackle Joe Staley leading up to the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl.

I posted a film cut of Northern Iowa right tackle Spencer Brown VS South Dakota State. Spencer Brown had 11 pancake blocks in this one game, and I posted two of his film cuts on my Youtube channel.

  12. New Orleans Saints: Nick Bolton, ROLB, Missouri

Oren Shiri: The New Orleans Saints need help at the linebacker position and they get it by drafting Nick Bolton in the first round. He will provide Dennis Allen with a future leader on his defense. Sure, he's a linebacker, but don't think that. Bolton comes with incredible hands. Take a look at his performance against West Virginia in 2019 that announced him as a force to be reckoned with. He will fit right away and take over where Alex Anzalone wasn't in the 2020 season.

  13. Green Bay Packers: Jalen Mayfield, RT, Michigan

Jason Bantle: A right tackle next to David Bahktiari is needed. Jalen Mayfiled is a player that I convinced Chris to mock to Green Bay in his three round mock.

  14. Buffalo Bills: Jaelen Phillips, RE, Miami FL

Joseph Potter: Jaelen Phillips took over for Gregory Rosseau at the 4-3 right end spot on the Miami Hurricanes. I'm not sold on Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, or A.J. Epensa long-term so the Bills get a true 4-3 defensive end here.

  15. Kansas City Chiefs: Dylan Moses, MLB, Alabama

Chris Ransom: Kansas City gets a middle linebacker. Just like with Baltimore, I reached for need rather than draft for value.

  16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jayson Oweh, 3-4 ROLB, Penn State

Jason Bantle: Tampa Bay gets a pass rusher to replace Shaq Barrett here in case Barrett chooses to leave in Free Agency. They go with the raw, speedy, and explosive Jayson Oweh out of Penn State to wrap up the first round of this group mock draft.
