The 5-9 182 lb Mike Sainristl had 38 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles, 58 total tackles, 7 deflections from pass breakups, 2 sacks, and 1 interception as a nickel cornerback next to D.J. Reader and Will Johnson in 2022. Mike Sainristl had 26 solo tackles, 18 assisted tackles, 44 total tackles, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 6 interceptions, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 defensive touchdowns after moving to boundary cornerback in 2023.
Mike Sainristl ran a 4.46 at the 2024 NFL Combine. Mike Sainristl ran a 4.36 while also showing the versatility to play wide receiver, cornerback, and safety at Michigan's 2024 Pro Day. This is the biggest reason for moving Mike Sainristl all the way up to 33 at the top of the second round, along with the fact that Wes Langley believes Mike Sainristl is a first round prospect.
Drafting Mike Sainristl here allows the Carolina Panthers to take the best player on the board and have Jayce Horn at field cornerback, Dane Jackson at boundary cornerback, and Mike Sainristl at nickel cornerback who feels like an upgrade over Troy Hill. I have a first round grade on Mike Sainristl, but I have my doubts about a 5-9 corner going in the top 32, but I can see him coming off the board to start the second day of the 2024 NFL Draft with a team hoping he can be their Brian Branch at nickel cornerback.
Getting a blindside at left tackle for the quarterback that New England drafts at 3 whether its Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, or J.J. McCarthy is gonna be critical if a good one is there at 34. Arizona left tackle Jordan Morgan did well against UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu, who I got a blue chip grade on. Jordan Morgan is the final player with a first round grade on the board at 34.
The 6-5 312 lb Jordan Morgan has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want in a left tackle. Some believe Morgan may have to kick inside to guard due to having an arm length of 32 7/8, but Morgan makes up for his arm length with massive 10 3/4 inch hands which is why I beleive Morgan stays at left tackle in the NFL.
Jordan Morgan alllowed 1 sack, 14 pressures, and 2 quarterback hits before a season ending injury in 2022. Jordan Morgan allowed 2 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, and 1 quarterback hit while staying fully healthy in 2023.
Jordan Morgan did well at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl. Jordan Morgan also ran a 5.04 40 yard dash. Jordan Morgan looked good at Arizona's 2024 Pro Day in the pass blocking and run blocking team drills in front of NFL Scouts while also leading Arizona Wildcats with 27 reps on the bench press.
Jordan Morgan is a constant blocker on running plays that will maintain blocks for 5-7 seconds. He's a temporary to lingering blocker only keeping his hands on defenders for 1-3 seconds or 3-4 seconds when he uses the proper hand placement. Morgan's hand placement on blocks and his pass blocking strength does need to improve once he gets to the NFL, but it's not a liability to the point where you pass on him. Jordan Morgan was able to pancake some guys during practice reps at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl and should come off the board relatively early on day 2 if the day 1 prospect doesn't get picked in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Drafting Jordan Morgan as a left tackle completes the starting offensive line for New England. New England would have Jordan Morgan at left tackle, Cole Strange their 2022 first round pick from Chattanooga at left guard, David Andrews at center, Sidy Sow at right guard, and Michael Onwenu at right tackle. Chukwuma Okorafor would be New England's swing tackle for depth if Morgan or Onwenu got injured. Having that stability on the offensive line is huge for Jayden Daniels, who I mocked at 3 and running back Rhamondre Stevenson who enters the final year of his rookie deal.
If New England passes on a left tackle at 34, theres reports that the plan for New England in 2024 will be to have Chukwuma Okorafor at left tackle, Cole Strange at left guard, David Andrews at center, Sidy Sow at right guard, and Michael Onwenu at right tackle. Either way, I'm mocking a left tackle to New England at 34 since there's so much offensive tackle talent still on the board.
Arizona gets a number one field cornerback on their secondary. The 6-0 186 lb Kamari Lassiter is the best cornerback on the board and would be the field cornerback on the Arizona Cardinals.
Kamari Lassiter had 21 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 37 total tackles, 8 deflections from pass breakups, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 0.5 sack, and 0 interceptions in 2023. Kamari Lassiter didn't do the bench press or 40 yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. Kamar Lassiter ran a 4.51 40 yard dash at Georgia's 2024 Pro Day with NFL scouts being critical of Lassiter's Pro Day.
I gave Kamari Lassiter an A- in man coverage, an A- in zone coverage, and an A- in press coverage. Kamari Lassiter can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme.
The thing is Kamaari Lassiter is more of a route guarder than a playmaker. He can mirror wide receivers regardless of what they do on the route tree He's not guaranteed to get 2-5 interceptions a year which is what you want to see from your number one field cornerback even though he's capable of getting 10 deflections a year in the NFL. Kamari Lassiter was also part of a Georgia secondary that won back-to-back Championships in College Football.
Arizona will have Kamari Lassiter at field cornerback, Sean Bunting-Murphy at boundary cornerback, and Garrett Williams at nickel cornerback if the Arizona Cardinals opt to draft Kamari Lassiter at 35. Those three cornerbacks would compliment Jalen Thompson at strong safety and Budda Baker at free safety quite well completing a rebuild on the secondary if Arizona drafts Kamari Lassiter at 34 here.
The 6-7 333 lb Patrick Paul has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, and run blocking strength to be an NFL left tackle. Patrick Paul is the only offensive tackle in College Football to have a pass blocking grade above 90 on Pro Football Focus each of the last two years. Patrick Paul did well at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl, the 2024 NFL Combine, and did well at the Big 12 Combine which was a Pro Day for Big 12 players.
Patrick Paul allowed 0 sacks on 81 pass blocking snaps as a freshman in 3 starts in 2019. Patrick Paul suffered a season-ending foot/ankle injury in 2020. Patrick Paul got voted team captain on Houston in 2022 annd allowed 1 sack in 595 pass blocking snaps. He had the second highest pass blocking grade among offensive tackles in 2022 and improved on that with the best pass blocking grade in 2023. He's the only left tackle in this draft to have a pass blocking grade on Pro Football Focus of 90 or higher for the last two years.
Drafting Patrick Paul gives Washington an offensive line with Patrick Paul at left tackle, Nick Allegretti the Chiefs backup left guard as the new starting left guard, Tyler Biadasz the former Dallas Cowboys center as the new Washington Commanders center, Sam Cosmi at right guard, and Anrew Wylie at right tackle. Drafting Patrick Paul allows the Washington Commanders to complete the starting five on their offensive line.
The Los Angeles Chargers currently have Asante Samuel Jr. whose 5-10 as their field cornerback and Kristian Fulton, the Tennessee Titans number one field cornerback last year is now the Los Angeles Chargers boundary cornerback. Ja'Sir Taylor, the Chargers 2022 sixth round pick is the current nickel cornerback, but an upgrade can certainly be made there. If the Los Angeles Chargers draft a cornerback at 37, the worst case scenario is you get a nickel cornerback and the best case scenario is you get a number one field cornerback which would allow you to move Asante Samuel Jr. back to nickel cornerback where he has more success. When J.C. Jackson got traded to New England, Asante Samuel Jr. moved from nickel cornerback to field cornerback.
The 6-3 203 lb Khyree Jackson had 25 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 34 total tackles, 7 deflections from pass breakups, 5 tackles for a loss, 3 interceptions, and 2 sacks taking over for Christian Gonzalez in 2023. I gave Khyree Jackson a B- grade in man coverage, a C grade in zone coverage, an A+ in press coverage, an A grade in run stuffing, an A- in hard hitting, an A in tackling, and an A+ in blitzing.
There's no doubt Jackson's man and zone needs improvement, but he's so exceptional in press coverage that he makes up for his man and zone coverage. He's also a outstanding run stuffer, blitzer, hard hitter, and tackler which is the biggest reason I mocked Khyree Jackson in the second round.
Drafting Khyree Jackson here gives the Chargers three quality top 3 cornerbacks in Asante Samuel Jr. at field cornerback, Kristian Fulton at boundary cornerback, and Khyree Jackson at nickel cornerback. Derwin James at strong safety and Alohi Gillman at free safety would compliment those cornerbacks rounding out a strong secondary for the Los Angeles Chargers if they draft Khyree Jackson at 37.
I posted a Khyree Jackson film cut versus Utah. Khyree Jackson dominated versus Utah.
Tennessee needs a day 1 starter at 3-4 middle linebacker. The 6-2 230 lb Edgerrin Cooper can pass rush, stop the run, and drop back into coverage. He's also not a very good blocker and missed three different tackles on film against Auburn.
Edgerrin Cooper had 39 solo tackles, 45 assisted tackles, 84 total tackles, led the SEC with 17 tackles for a loss, 10 quarterback hurries, 8 sacks, 2 deflections from pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 defensive touchdown on a fumble recovery versus Auburn in 2023.
The Tennessee Titans signed Kenneth Murray in Free Agency at 3-4 middle linebacker. Drafting the top 3-4 middle linebacker and the most complete linebacker in an underwhelming middle linebacker draft in Edgerrin Cooper gives the Tennessee Titans stability at 3-4 middle linebacker.
Carolina has three wide receivers in Diontae Johnson as their flanker wide receiver, Adam Thielen last years number one target as the secondary wide receiver, and Jonathan Mingo last years slot receiver back at the slot receiver. Carolina drafts another wide receiver here with Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey because the Carolina Panthers don't have a true number one target. Ladd McConkey could end up developing into a number one target for second year quarterback Bryce Young who was drafted first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft a year ago. Carolina acquired this second round pick from the New York Giants when trading their best pass rusher Brian Burns to the New York Giants.
The 5-11 187 lb Ladd McConkey redshirted in 2020. Ladd McConkey had 31 receptions, 447 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns as a freshman redshirt in 2021. Ladd McConkey had 58 receptions, 762 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns as a sophomore redshirt in 2022. Ladd McConkey had 30 receptions, 478 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, and won the Wuerfel Award for Community Service as a junior redshirt in 2023.
Ladd McConkey dominated versus Ole Miss. He can run all 30 routes on the route tree and ran a 4.39 40 yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine.
The 6-4 245 lb Bralen Trice weighed 274 in the regular season and lost 29 lbs prior to the 2024 NFL Combine. Bralen Trice showed the versatility to play both 4-3 right end and 4-3 left end, but he's also got the size to play 3-4 right outside linebacker as well as 3-4 left outside linebacker.
Bralen Trice had 30 solo tackles, 19 assisted tackles, 49 total tackles, 15 quarterback hurries, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 7 sacks, 2 deflections from a pass breakup, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Bralen Trice is a great pass rusher, but he looked suspect as a run stuffer versus Oregon.
Drafting Brlaen Trice gives Washington Bralen Trice at 4-3 right end and K.J. Henry at 4-3 left end. Washington moved both starting 4-3 defensive ends Montez Sweat and Chase Young at the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline. Drafting Trice to replace Sweat at 4-3 right end and moving 2023 third round pick K.J. Henry to the full-time starter at 4-3 left end makes a lot of sense for the 2024 NFL Season.
I posted a film cut of Washington EDGE Bralen Trice VS Oregon. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
The 6-1 199 lb Tyler Nubin has the versatility to play both strong safety and free safety. Green Bay could use a free safety upgrade next to Free Agent strong safety Xavier McKinney.
Tyler Nubin had 34 solo tackles, 19 assisted tackles, 53 total tackles, 5 interceptions, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. The Minnesota safety was a team captain on Minnesota's defense for good reason as I gave Tyler Nubin an A- in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, and a B grade in press coverage.
Tyler Nubin can play in a cover 0, cover 1 cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme. Green Bay will have one of the better safety tandems in the league if they draft Tyler Nubin at free safety to compliment Xavier McKinney. Having a cornerback trio of Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Cooper DeJean to compliment these safeties will also help.
This was originally the Minnesota Vikings 2024 second round pick, but Minnesota moved this pick when trading up to 23 in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by trading this pick to the Houston Texans, who owned the Cleveland Browns 2024 first round pick at 23. The Houston Texans have Derek Stingley Jr. back at field cornerback, Jeffrey Okudah replaces Steven Nelson on a one year deal, and Desmond King is also back at nickel cornerback on a one year deal. Drafting another cornerback to pair with Derek Stingley Jr. makes a lot of sense. Louisville cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. did a great job in the 2023 ACC Championship despite Louisville losing to Florida State.
The 5-11 183 lb Jarvis Brownlee Jr. had 16 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 30 total tackles, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 1 interception, and 1 tackle for a loss in 2023. I gave Jarvis Brownlee Jr. an A grade in man coverage, a B+ in zone coverage, and an A grade in press coverage.
Jarvis Brownlee Jr. will thrive in cover 0, cover 1, and cover 2 plays, but you can develop him for a year so his zone coverage is on par with his man and press coverage if you don't think he's ready to play. If Houston has a lack of stability at nickel cornerback like last year, you can put Jarvis Brownlee Jr. into Houston's starting lineup on defense and there will not be a dropoff at cornreback.
Atlanta made Demarco Hellams the starting strong safety over 2021 second round pick Richie Grant. Hellams isn't a quality starting strong safety, so Atlanta drafts a safety to compliment free safety Jessie Bates III. This is where Miami FL safety Kamren Kinchens comes into play.
The 5-11 206 lb Kamren Kinchens has the versatility to play strong safety, free safety, and nickel cornerback. Kamren Kinchens had 40 solo tackles, 19 assisted tackles, 59 total tackles, 5 deflections from pass breakups, 5 interceptions, 2.5 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, and 1 defensive touchdown in 2023.
I gave Kamren Kinchens an A- in man coverage, an A- in zone coverage, an a B in press coverage, a B- in run stuffing, a C+ in hard hitting, a C+ in blitzing a C in tackling, and an F in blocking. Kamren Kinchens can play in cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4.
Drafting Kamren Kinchens to start next to Jessie Bates III fixes your safety problem. You also got Demarco Hellams and Richie Grant as backup safeties for depth. Atlanta currently has A.J. Terrell at field cornerback, Clark Phillips III getting promoted from nickel to boundary cornerback covering number two wide receivers instead of slot receivers, and Mike Hughes will be Atlanta's nickel cornerback. Drafting Kamren Kinchens completes the secondary for Atlanta for now, but more pieces could be added at cornerback for depth later in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Las Vegas could draft a quarterback, but only under one of three scenarios. Scenario A involves Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. falling to 33 and Las Vegas moving multiple second round picks like the Tennessee Titans did with Will Levis in the 2023 NFL Draft. This scenario is not in play since I mocked Michael Penix Jr. to Minnesota at 23. Scenario B involves drafting Oregon quarterback Bo Nix at 44. Scenario C involves drafting South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler, Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman, Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt, or Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis at 77. All five of the quarterbacks that I mentioned have higher ceilings than Aidan O'Connell or Gardner Minshew II, who the Raiders signed in Free Agency. Bo Nix fell to this pick and is still available, so I'm mocking him to the Las Vegas Raiders at 44.
The 6-2 218 lb Bo Nix had 4,508 passing yards, 45 passing touchdowns, 234 rushing yards, 6 rushing touchdowns, 4,742 total yards, 51 total touchdowns, 3 interceptions, a 77.4% completion percentage, and a 91.0 quarterback rating in 14 starts in 2023. Bo Nix would come in and compete with Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew II for the starting quarterback job in Las Vegas. Even if Bo Nix started out at third string, he has a higher ceiling than both Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew II who have the ceilings of high end backups.
I posted a film cut of Oregon quarterback Bo Nix VS Washington. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
New Orleans drafts a starting left guard that would be an upgrade over James Hurst with Andrus Peat gone. The 6-3 322 lb Cooper Beebe is one of the best left guards in College Football. For most of the draft process I had Cooper Beebe ahead of Graham Barton before Barton dominated Duke's 2024 Pro Day. Cooper Beebe was my top guard for most of the draft process and he'd be a great addition for New Orleans here.
Cooper Beebe has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, and run blocking strength. Cooper Beebe checks off nearly every box and he's one of the safer players to draft in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Drafting Cooper Beebe completes this offensive line for New Orleans. New Orleans would have Trevor Penning at left tackle, Cooper Beebe at left guard, Erik McCoy at center, Cesar Ruiz at right guard, and Tyler Guyton at right tackle.
Indianapolis drafts another defensive tackle to push Grover Stewart and Taven Bryan for playing time next to Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner. The biggest surprise in my defensive tackle rankings is that I have Braden Fiske ahead of Byron Murphy II in my defensive tackle rankings with Jer'Zhan Newton as my only first round defensive tackle.
The 6-4 295 lb Braden Fiske has the presence to dominate on the defensive line as a pass rusher or a run stopper. Braden Fiske had 17 solo tackles, 26 assisted tackles, 43 total tackles, 9 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks, and 5 quarterback hurries in 2023. Braden Fiske dominated the 2024 NFL Combine with a 4.78 40 yard dash and 26 reps on the bench press.
The New York Giants need a number one wide receiver for their quarterback of the future. New York can use this pick that they got from Seattle in the Leonard Williams trade to get that target. Malachi Corley makes a lot of sense here as he can be a number one wide receiver on the New York Giants.
The 5-10 215 lb Malachi Corley had 73 receptions, 691 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns with Bailey Zappe as his quarterback in 2021. Malachi Corley had 101 receptions, 1,293 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns with Austin Reed taking over for Bailey Zappe in 2022. Malachi Corley had 94 receptions, 789 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns catching passes from Austin Reed in 2023.
Malachi Corley is a fast wide receiver with superb blocking and may be the best blocking wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft despite his size. Malachi Corley impressed enough to earn a spot in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl. He worked out at the 2024 NFL Combine and told Steve Smith on his podcast he wanted to improve his route tree. Malachi Corley ran a 4.45 40-yard dash, did 27 reps on the bench press, and showed the ability to run all 30 routes on the route tree at Western Kentucky's 2024 Pro Day. There's no reason for the New York Giants to pass on Malachi Corley at 47 if they draft a quarterback at 6. New York could draft a wide receiver at 6 and pass on a quarterback, but there won't be a top 6 quarterback there at 47, so drafting one of the top 4 quarterbacks most likely J.J. McCarthy and taking Corley at 47 is the most logical route for the New York Giants.
Jacksonville has three wide receivers with Christian Kirk as the flanker wide receiver, Gabriel Davis as the secondary wide receiver, anad Zay Jones as the slot receiver. Kirk has two years left on his contract, Davis has three years on the contract he just signed, and Zay Jones has one year left on his contract. Jacksonville might spend a day 2 pick on a wide receiver hoping to reload at the position while saving cap space in the process since Josh Allen got extended.
The 5-10 186 lb Roman Wilson had 48 receptions, 789 receiving yards, and 12 receiving touchdowns on a 15-0 Michigan team in 2023. Roman Wilson ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. Roman Wilson also showed the ability to run all 30 routes on the route tree at Michigan's 2024 Pro Day showing a vast improvement in his route running from the regular season to 2024 NFL Combine as J.J. McCarthy and Roman Wilson were the two big standouts at Michigan's 2024 Pro Day.
Roman Wilson may end up starting out as the number four wide receiver. I do believe Wilson is talented enough to supplant Zay Jones as the number three wide receiver on the Jacksonville Jaguars if Zay Jones cannot pull it together and at the very worst, Wilson would see limited action as a number four wide receiver as a rookie before taking over for Zay Jones in year two unless the Jaguars fell in love with a first round wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jacksonville would also have Devin Duvernay as the number five wide receiver and Parker Washington as the number six wide receiver on their depth chart.
Cincinnati gets a defensive tackle that most have a first round grade on at 48. I have a second round grade on Byron Murphy II. He didn't wow me on tape like Jer'Zhan Newton or Braden Fiske, but he's too talented to last on the board any longer. There's also the possibility Byron Murphy II goes off the board before Newton or Fiske because there are some reports about medical concerns with Newton and Fiske.
Cincinnati signed Sheldon Rankins to a two year contract to replace D.J. Reader at defensive tackle. B.J. Hill enters a contract year. Drafting Byron Murphy II as a potential replacement to B.J. Hill allows you to reload at defensive tackle.
The 6-0 297 lb Byron Murphy II had 13 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 29 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 7 quarterback hurries, 5 sacks, and 1 rushing touchdown as a fullback in 2023.
Byron Murphy II would be a great 4-3 defensive tackle and luckily for Murphy, Cincinnati runs a 4-3 defense. Byron Murphy II struggled against Oklahoma which is why I have a second round grade on him even though many have Murphy as the top defensive tackle in the draft. He didn't wow me in one-on-ones like Newton or Fiske did, but if he gets an invite to the 2024 NFL Draft there's a good chance he goes in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
I posted a film cut of Texas DL Byron Murphy II VS Oklahoma. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
Philadelphia ran a 4-3 defense for many years. Under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, Philadelphia is moving to a 3-4 defense.
Philadelphia will have Jalen Carter at 3-4 right end, Jordan Davis at 3-4 nose tackle, Milton Williams at 3-4 left end, Josh Sweat at 3-4 right outside linebacker, Nakobe Dean at 3-4 middle linebacker, Devin White at 3-4 middle linebacker, and Bryce Huff at 3-4 left outside linebacker. Nolan Smith is the backup 3-4 right outside linebacker and long-time starter Brandon Graham is the backup 3-4 left outside linebacker. Nolan Smith is the only edge rusher among Sweat, Huff, and Graham with experience in a 3-4 defense. Alabama outside linebacker Chris Braswell is the best outside linebacker on the board and Philadelphia can ease him in behind Bryce Huff and Brandon Graham without having to rush him giving Philadelphia ample time to develop Chris Braswell.
The 6-3 257 lb Chris Braswell had 16 solo tackles, 26 assisted tackles, 42 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles, 1 deflection from a pass breakup, 1 interception, 1 blocked kick/punt, and 1 touchdown in 2023. I'm not sure if Braswell's touchdown came off a blocked punt or a pick 6, but he's gotten a lot better showing the versatility to play both 3-4 right outside linebacker and 3-4 left outside linebacker making him an ideal successor to Brandon Graham in Philadelphia.
Pittsburgh gets an offensive tackle that can be a swing tackle this season before moving to right tackle as a bookend to Broderick Jones with this second round pick. BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamatia started out at right tackle and moved over to left tackle for the 2023 season.
The 6-4 329 lb Kingsley Suamatia has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking strength, run blocking strength, and run blocking footwork you want from an NFL offensive tackle. I feel like Kingsley Suamatia needs to be more consistent when getting his hands on defenders, but he can go to Pittsburgh as a swing tackle and develop for a year before taking over at right tackle when Pittsburgh moves Broderick Jones over to left tackle once Dan Moore Jr.'s rookie deal is up. By that point, Kingsley Suamatia will be ready to start at right tackle in 2025.
Kingsley Suamatia allowed 0 sacks, 11 pressures, and 3 quarterback hits across 361 pass blocking snaps in 2022. Kingsley Suamatia allowed 2 sacks, 15 pressures, and 6 quarterback hits across 381 pass blocking snaps in 2023.
Pittsburgh's offensive line would have Dan Moore Jr. at left tackle, Isaac Seumalo at left guard, Jackson Powers-Johnson at center, James Daniels at right guard, and Broderick Jones at right tackle. Pittsburgh could use Kingsley Suamatia a swing tackle that can move over to right tackle if the Steelers decide to move Broderick Jones back to left tackle in 2024 if Dan Moore Jr. gets injured or in 2025 once Dan Moore Jr's contract expires. An upgrade over Isaac Seumalo could also be used if the value is there in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Los Angeles Rams get another nose tackle to bolster the run defense with Bobby Brown IV entering the final year of his rookie deal. Texas defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat comes off the board here at 52 despite a recent off the field incident.
The 6-4 366 lb T'Vondre Sweat had 18 solo tackles, 27 assisted tackles, 45 total tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, 7 quarterback hurries, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 2 sacks, 1 blocked kick/punt, and 1 receiving touchdown on offense in 2023. Having Bobby Brown IV an T'Vondre Sweat rotate at nose tackle will make it much harder to run on the Los Angeles Rams. Kobie Turner can move to 3-4 right end where Aaron Donald played after a strong rookie year.
I posted a film cut of Texas DL T'Vondre Sweat VS Oklahoma. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
Philadelphia has Jordan Mailata at left tackle, Landon Dickerson at left guard, Cameron Jurgens is moving from right guard to center, Tyler Steen at right guard, and Lane Johnson at right tackle. Jason Kelce recommended Jurgens be his successor at center which is why I am giving the Eagles a right guard here since I think Christian Haynes is an upgrade over Tyler Steen.
The 6-2 318 lb Christian Haynes lined up at left guard, center, right guard, and right tackle at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl. Christian Haynes also ran a 5.03 40-yard dash and did 25 reps on the bench press at the 2024 NFL Combine.
Christian Haynes has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, and run blocking strength. Haynes might have a better floor than Graham Barton or Cooper Beebe since it feels like he checks off every box, but Barton and Beebe have higher ceilings since both Barton and Beebe have left tackle experience.
Cleveland currently has Jedrick Wills Jr. at left tackle, Joel Bitonio at left guard, Ethan Pocic at center, Wyatt Teller at right guard, and Jack Conklin is listed as the starting right tackle on the current Cleveland Browns depth chart despite the fact that Dawand Jones started the majority of the season. Washington left tackle Troy Fautanu could be a potential replacement to Jedrick Wills Jr. if the Cleveland Browns choose not to extend either Jedrick Wills Jr. or James Hudson. Cleveland also added Hakeem Adeniji as insurance through Free Agency to the offensive line.
The 6-4 317 lb Troy Fautanu has experience at both left tackle and left guard. People are saying Fautanu can play all five positions on the offensive line at left tackle, left guard, center, right guard, and right tackle just like Graham Barton.
Troy Fautanu allowed 2 sacks, 23 quarterback pressures, and 3 quarterback hits in 623 pass blocking snaps in 2023. The play of Troy Fautanu at left tackle was a big reason why Washington got to the Championship Game of the 2024 College Football Playoff.
Troy Fautanu has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, and run blocking footwork. I feel like Troy Fautanu's pass blocking strength and run blocking strength could improve, but Cleveland can develop Fautanu for a year at left tackle if he cannot supplant Wills Jr. as the starter.
You can try Troy Fautanu at left tackle in 2025 or if you draft a left tackle in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, you can move him over to one of the guard spots when Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller's contracts expires in 2026 as well giving Fautanu a second year to develop before giving him a shot to start in 2026.
Regardless of whether you think Troy Fautanu is a left tackle or a guard, he's an ideal fit for the Cleveland Browns with Cleveland's first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. I'm aware that Fautanu is a first round prospect, but I'm not as high on him as the consensus as I have a second round grade on Troy Fautanu.
I posted a film cut of Washington's offensive line VS Oregon. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
The 6-4 245 lb Ja'Tavion Sanders is an upgrade over any tight end on the Miami Dolphins roster. Ja'Tavion Sanders had 54 receptions, 613 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Ja'Tavion Sanders had 45 receptions, 682 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns in 2023.
Ja'Tavion Sanders can run all 30 routes on the route tree. He gives Miami a tight end that can get open as well as an extra chess piece in the passing game if you only account for Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
I posted a film cut of Texas tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders VS Alabama. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
The 6-3 314 lb Zach Frazier has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, and run blocking strength you want in a center. Zach Frazier's pass blocking strength and run blocking strength really improved at West Virginia in 2023.
Dallas would have Amairus Mims at left tackle, Tyler Smith at left guard, Zach Frazier at center, Zack Martin at right guard, and Terrence Steele at right tackle. Just like that, Dallas reloads on the offensive line and there are zero excuses for quarterback Dak Prescott entering a contract year.
Tampa Bay drafts a wide receiver here with Chris Godwin in a contract year. I don't think Tampa Bay has the salary cap to keep Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin. I believe Tampa Bay drafts another wide receiver and has him compete with Trey Palmer for the slot receiver job. That wide receiver would take over for Godwin next year after Godwin's contract expires.
The 6-1 208 lb Javon Baker had 56 receptions, 796 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Javon Baker had 52 receptions, 1,139 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2023.
Javon Baker ran 18/30 routes on the route tree versus Oklahoma. Javon Baker ran a 4.55 at the 2024 NFL Combine. Javon Baker kept making one-handed catches at the Big 12 Pro Days and did the same at a top 30 visit while adding a new route to his route tree after the Big 12 Pro Day and his top 30 visit. That means Javon Baker can now run 20/30 routes on the route tree. Javon Baker is my favorite Central Florida wide receiver since Brandon Marshall.
There's three middle linebackers in this draft that can pass rush the quarterback, stop the run, and drop back into coverage. Based on the tape I've seen, those three linebackers are Edgerrin Cooper, Payton Wilson, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. I feel like Edgerrin Cooper will be the first guy off the board among those three and he's gone, but Payton Wilson has the best production of those three.
Green Bay is moving to a 4-3 defense with the Green Bay Packers new defensive coordinator moving to a 4-3 defense. Green Bay will have Preston Smith at 4-3 right end, Kenny Clark at 4-3 defensive tackle, Devonte Wyatt at 4-3 defensive tackle, Rashan Gary at 4-3 left end, Quay Walker at right outside linebacker in both a 4-3 as well as a 4-2-5, and Payton Wilson at middle linebacker in both a 4-3 and 4-2-5 defense with Isaiah McDuffie only starting at 4-3 left outside linebacker when Green Bay deploys three linebackers on the front 7.
North Carolina State linebacker Payton Wilson can play 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, and 3-4 middle linebacker with his versatility. Payton Wilson can rush the quarterback, stop the run, or drop back into coverage.
The 6-4 234 lb Payton Wilson had 69 solo tackles, 69 assisted tackles, 138 total tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss, 10 quarterback hurries, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 6 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, and 1 defensive touchdown in 2023. Payton Wilson this years Butkus Award winner is gonna be a day 1 starter for the Green Bay Packers next to Quay Walker, Green Bay's 2022 first round pick out of Georgia with D'Vondre Campbell gone.
Houston has three quality wide receivers in Stefon Diggs as their flanker receiver, Nico Collins is the secondary wide receiver after being the flanker wide receiver the last two years in Houston, and Tank Dell is the slot receiver. Both Diggs and Collins are on one-year contracts, so if the value is there at wide receiver, drafting a wide receiver and stashing that player for depth wouldn't be the worst idea.
The 6-1 193 lb Ricky Pearsall had 65 receptions, 965 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns in 2023. I saw Ricky Pearsall run 19/30 routes on the route tree against LSU.
Ricky Pearsall ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. I see Van Jefferson with the route running of Wes Welker when watching Pearsall. Pearsall is a better route runner coming out of Florida than Jefferson was back in the 2020.
Ricky Pearsall can be the number four target at wide receiver for Houston this season. He could end up developing into a starter on the outside and replacement for either Diggs or Collins if neither gets extended after this season. I have a feeling either Diggs or Collins gets extended and the other guy walks in Free Agency which sets things up for Pearsall starting in 2025 with Tank Dell remaining at slot receiver. I do believe Pearsall could develop into a number one wide receiver in the rare event that Houston lets both Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins walk after this season.
Buffalo moved on from both strong safety Jordan Poyer and free safety Micah Hyde. Now last years backup strong safety Taylor Rapp is the starting strong safety and Mike Edwards the starting free safety for the Kansas City Chiefs when Bryan Cook was injured is now Buffalo's starting free safety. Buffalo still has Damar Hamlin for depth, but it's pretty obvious he's gonna be the number four safety on the depth chart once again during the final year of his rookie deal with him being the backup strong safety to Taylor Rapp while Mike Edwards competes with a rookie that Buffalo drafts at 60 for the free safety job across from Rapp. If Buffalo gets an opportunity to land Utah safety Cole Bishop a consensus top 3 safety in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills need to pull the trigger and get Cole Bishop at 60.
The 6-2 209 lb Cole Bishop is versatile enough to play strong safety or free safety. If you saw Cole Bishop versus Florida you gave him an A grade in man coverage, an A+ in zone coverage, and an A- in press coverage. If you saw Cole Bishop against Oregon, you probably gave Bishop a C- grade in man coverage, a C- in zone coverage, and a C- in press coverage. I believe Cole Bishop got an interception for Utah in Utah's first loss of the year to Oregon State too. Cole Bishop can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, and cover 4 scheme.
Cole Bishop had 35 solo tackles, 25 assisted tackles, 60 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Cole Bishop also played in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl before running a 4.47 at the 2024 NFL Combine. I believe Cole Bishop has a shot to be a day 1 starter for Buffalo beating out Mike Edwards for playing time which is why I mocked him at 60.
Detroit uses this second round pick to add a third pass rusher for depth behind Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport. Darius Robinson is a good value pick for Detroit this late in the second round as he can come in and learn under Marcus Davenport for a year before taking over as the next edge rusher to compliment Aidan Hutchinson.
The 6-5 286 lb Darius Robinson lined up at 4-3 right end, 4-3 defnesive tackle, 3-4 right end, 3-4 left end, and 4-3 left end playing everywhere on the defensive line throughout his tenure at Missouri. Darius Robinson had 29 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 43 total tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, 6 quarterback hurries, and 1 forced fumble in 2023.
The 6-3 272 lb Brandon Dorlus lined up at 4-3 right end, 3-4 right end, 4-3 defensive tackle, 4-3 left end, and 3-4 left end. Baltimore drafts Brandon Dorlus as an eventual replacement to Brett Urban at 3-4 left end. Having Justin Madubuike at 3-4 right end and Brandon Dorlus at 3-4 left end with Michael Pierce inside at 3-4 nose tackle with Travis Jones as a second 3-4 nose tackle for depth. Brandon Dorlus weighed around 290 in the Fall before losing 18 lbs before the 2024 NFL Combine.
Brandon Dorlus had 14 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, 25 total tackles, 9 deflections from pass breakups, 7 quarterback hurries, 6.5 tackles for a loss, and 5 sacks in 2023. Brandon Dorlus really impressed me as a pass rusher to the point where I have him in the late second round. His run stuffing and ability to drop back into coverage for a defensive end is decent, but not jaw dropping.
I posted a film cut of Oregon EDGE Brandon Dorlus VS Washington. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
Charvarius Ward remains the number one field cornerback, but Ambry Thomas took the boundary cornerback job from Deommondre Lenoir whose now the nickel cornerback. With Ambry Thomas and Deommondre Lenoir in contract years, it makes sense to draft another cornerback early. Missouri cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine would be a good replacement to Lenoir at this point in the second round.
The 5-11 173 lb Kris Abrams-Draine had 30 solo tackles, 7 assisted tackles, 37 total tackles, led Missouri with 7 deflections from pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 kickoff return for a touchdown touchdown as Missouri's number one field cornerback in 2021. Kris Abrams-Draine had 36 solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles, 48 total tackles, and a team best 14 deflections from pass breakups in 2022. Kris Abrams-Draine had 38 solo tackles, 13 assisted tackles, 51 total tackles, a team best 13 deflections from pass breakups for the third year in a row, 4 interceptions, 2.5 tackles for a loss, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 forced fumble in 2023.
I gave Kris Abrams-Draine an A in man coverage, a C in zone coverage, an A in press coverage, a B+ in returning on special teams, a B in run stuffing, and a B- in tackling. I feel like Kris Abrams-Draine can play in any coverage scheme whether its cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4. At the same time I feel like he will have more success in a cover 0, cover 1, or cover 2 scheme.
Kris Abrams-Draine ran a 4.47 at the 2024 NFL Combine and he led Missouri in deflections for three years in a row. A lot of people have Ennis Rakestraw Jr. ahead of Kris Abrams-Draine on draft boards, but the tape doesn't show that Rakestraw is better than Abrams-Draine, also Abrams-Draine is faster despite the fact that Rakestraw has size that may translate to the NFL better. Kris Abrams-Draine fits to the letter at nickel cornerback on a team like San Francisco that uses more man and press coverage with cornerbacks than zone coverage. Kris Abrams-Draine also did well on tape versus Emeka Egbuka Ohio State's number one receiver in Missouri's bowl win as well as LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.
I honestly believe Kris Abrams-Draine can be a day 1 starter on a team like San Francisco with his skill set. Also, I got his Missouri teammate getting picked by the next team to end the second round.
Kansas City gets a cornerback to push 2022 fourth round pick out of Fayetteville State Joshua Williams and 2022 seventh round pick Jaylen Watson out of Washington State with L'Jarius Sneed gone since the Chiefs may need a boundary cornerback next to Trent McDuffie, Kansas City's 2022 first round pick out of Washington.
The 5-11 183 lb Ennis Rakestraw Jr. had 24 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, 35 total tackles, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. I gave Ennis Rakestraw Jr. an A in man coverage, a C- in zone coverage, an A in press coverage, a B- in tackling, and a C+ in run stuffing.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. can play in a cover 0, cover 1, or cover 2 scheme. He might be deadly enough in man coverage to come in as a rookie and take the boundary cornerback job from L'Jarius Sneed. He ran a 4.51 40-yard dash and has medicals with a torn ACL in 2021 and a groin injury in 2023.
Some mock drafts have Ennis Rakestraw Jr. going ahead of Kris Abrams-Draine, but he never had more deflections than Abrams-Draine, ran a slower 40 time than Abrams-Draine, and has far worse medicals than Abrams-Draine. That being said, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. is one of the 64 best players in the 2024 NFL Draft, so him landing on the Kansas City Chiefs at 64 wouldn't be a huge surprise as drafting Ennis Rakestraw Jr. would allow the Chiefs to reload at cornerback with Williams and Watson competing at nickel cornerback while having strong depth at cornerback for the next two years with four quality cornerbacks.
