2024 MLS Mock Draft: Final Mock 3 Rounds

Round 3

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: December 19, 2023.

  1. Toronto F.C.: Olu Oyegunle, D, Syracuse

The 6-3 203 lb Olu Oyegunle has the versatility to play the 2 at left back and the 5 at center back with his versatility. Olu Oyegunle started 21 games helping Syracuse get 10 shutouts while starting in 8 of those ten games where Syracuse got a shutout during their run to winning the 2022 College Cup. Olu Oyegunle helped Syracuse get 4 shutouts in 16 starts as a junior in 2023.

The 21-year-old Olu Oyegule is from Toronto, Ontario. He would count as a domestic born left back for Toronto F.C. Olu Oyegunle is the thirty sixth underclassmen that I've mocked in this three round 2024 MLS Mock Draft.

  2. Colorado Rapids: Pietro Fontana, F, Central Arkansas

The 5-11 155 lb Pietro Fontana is a 20-year-old striker from Italy. Pietro Fontana had 12 goals, 2 assists, and 26 points in his first year as a starter. Colorado can gamble on Pietro Fontana and if he does well enough in training camp, you can sign him to an MLS Next contract. If you opt to promote Pietro Fontana, then he would occupy that third Under 22 International roster slot.

Pietro Fontana is the thirty seventh underclassmen in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft. There are 388 total players in the 2024 MLS Super Draft Database excluding the three freshmen that received Generation Adidas offers giving you a grand total of 391 total players.

  3. Inter Miami C.F.: Zach Zengue, M, Georgetown

Inter Miami C.F. drafts a midfielder who can play a variety of roles. Georgetown midfielder Zach Zengue has the versatility to play the 2 at left back, the 3 at right back, the 5 at center back, 6 at defensive midfielder, the 7 at right winger, the 8 at central midfielder, the 10 at attacking midfielder, and the 11 at left winger with his versatility. Zach Zengue is also the younger brother of Xavier Zengue, the Dayton center back that the Columbus Crew drafted in the first round of the 2023 MLS Super Draft.

Zach Zengue came off the bench as a true freshman in 2022. Zach Zengue had 5 goals, 6 assists, 16 points, helped Georgetown record 8 shutouts, and started all 19 games in his first season as a starter during his sophomore season in 2023.

Zach Zengue is 19-years-old. He turns 20 in January. If an MLS team drafts Zach Zengue, they can either keep him in college for two more years and sign him before December 31, 2025, sign Zach Zengue to an MLS Next deal, or promote him to an MLS contract.

Zach Zengue is the thirty eighth underclassmen that is a freshman, sophomore, or junior in the 2024 MLS Super Draft. Zach Zengue will probably come off the board at some point in the second round or very early in the third round given his youth, longevity, upside, and flexibility as a prospect. I won't be surprised if someone spends a late first round pick on Xavier Zengue's younger brother.

  4. Los Angeles Galaxy: Michael Peck, D, Missouri State

I've always preferred the 4-3-3 or the 4-4-2 formations personally. This is the biggest reason I am mocking a second center back to the Los Angeles Galaxy because I'm a firm believer in having two center backs on the back line.

The 6-3 185 lb Michael Peck is a 22-year-old center back from England that can play the 4 at sweeper or the 5 at center back. Michael Peck helped Missouri State record 12 shutouts as a sophomore in 2022. Michael Peck managed to keep Duncan McGuire scoreless as a true sophomore. Michael Peck had 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 points, and helped Missouri State record 10 shutouts in 2023.

Michael Peck is good enough to declare for the 2024 MLS Super Draft with two strong seasons for Missouri State with the new rules that allow all sophomores and juniors to declare for the 2024 MLS Super Draft. I think Michael Peck would be deadly next to a center back like Turner Humphrey complimenting him, but if the Los Angeles Galaxy want Humphrey to be their MLS center back than Michael Peck can be their MLS Next center back. I've always felt like center back is the most imporant position on the backline even though you want to have fullbacks executing at a high level as well..

Michael Peck is the thirty ninth player that is either a freshman redshirt, sophomore, sophomore redshirt, junior, or junior redshirt. All of those players outside of seniors in the 2024 MLS Super Draft count as underclassmen. I had Peck going in the first round of my first two MLS Mock Drafts due to his consistency, but I won't be surprised if he falls to the third round because he's from England and requires an International spot if you bring him to the MLS. If the Los Angeles Galaxy take two domestic players in the second round, they can gamble on peck in the third round.

  5. Philadelphia Union: Umberto Pela, M, Virginia

Philadelphia drafts another midfielder that they can keep in the NCAA or stash in MLS Next. Umberto Pela plays the 8 at central midfielder on Virginia, but is also versatile enough to play the 6 at defensive midfielder. Umberto Pela still has two more years of eligibility after this year before the Philadelphia Union has to offer him an MLS or MLS Next contract. Philadelphia can draft Umberto Pela and can let him develop at Virginia without having to sign him.

The 5-11 165 lb Umberto Pela is a 20-year-old central midfielder on the Virginia Cavaliers from Milan, Italy. He's a true sophomore, and a player that an MLS team can draft only to stash in the NCAA, so that team has a player ready to bring up to MLS or MLS Next once that player finishes developing. Umrberto Pela is the fortieth underclassmen to get picked in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft.

  6. Chicago Fire F.C.: Reid Roberts, D, San Francisco

Chicago may draft a center back for depth at some point in the third round of the 2024 MLS Super Draft. Reid Roberts is good enough to get drafted despite being a true sophomore.

The 6-1 180 lb Reid Roberts can play the 4 at sweeper or the 5 at center back. Reid Roberts had 1 goal, 0 assists, 2 points, helped San Francisco record 5 shutouts, and started 16 games in as a true freshman in 2022. Reid Roberts had 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 points, helped San Francisco record 6 shutouts, and started 17 games as a true sophomore in 2023.

Reid Roberts is the forty first underclassmen to be featured in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft. The San Francisco Dons true sophomore led all sophomores with 48 duels won in 2023.

  7. D.C. United: Max Floriani, D, Saint Louis

D.C. United grabs a domestic player. Joel Sangwa is one of the better seniors in the 2024 MLS Super Draft.

The 6-2 180 lb Max Floriani redshirted in 2021. Max Floriani had 0 goals, 4 assists, 4 points, and helped Saint Louis record 5 shutouts as a freshman redshirt in 17 starts while playing in all 20 games for the Saint Louis Billikens in the Atlantic 10 in 2022. Max Floriani had 1 goal, 2 assists, 4 points, and helped Saint Louis record 7 shutouts as a sophomore redshirt while playing and starting in all 17 games that the Saint Louis Billikens played in during Floriani's 2023 season.

Max Floriani is either 20 or 21. I mocked Floriani in the first round of my very first 2024 MLS Mock Draft back in October, but I removed him from the two round mock following the 2023 MLS College Showcase. With Max Floriani on the official draft list for the 2024 MLS Super Draft, I have to believe someone will pick the next highly recruited player by Kevin Kalish in the first two rounds of the 2024 MLS Super Draft.

He's the forty second prospect that is an underclassmen in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft that is either a freshman, sophomore, or junior. Max Floriani is a bargain at this point in the third round.

  8. New York City F.C.: Yutaro Tsukada, F, West Virginia

New York City F.C. gets another forward to stash in MLS Next here since New York City F.C. can promote their 2023 third round pick M.D. Meyers who led MLS Next with 17 goals in 2023. I had Meyers in my top 20 overall coming out of Rutgers last year too.

The 5-11 154 lb Yutaro Tsukada is versatile enough to play the 9 at striker, the 10 at attacking midfielder, or the 11 at left winger. Yutaro Tsukada led West Virginia with 12 goals tying Marcus Calderia, 9 assists which led West Virginia in 2023, and 33 points which also led West Virginia in 2023. He would line up at left winger, attacking midfielder, or a secondary striker to take pressure off of Marcus Calderia when West Virginia opted to deploy two forwards in formations.

  9. Minnesota United F.C.: Damien Barker John, F, Louisville

The 5-8 147 lb Damien Barker John had 9 goals, 3 assists, and 21 points during his sophomore season at Louisville. Damien Barker John really stood out with 1 goal and 1 assist when I scouted him in person when Louisville played Pittsburgh. He had the assist to give Louisville a 1-0 lead against Pittsburgh before kicking a shot from half court in the net to make it 2-0 for Louisville in Louisville's overtme win over Pittsburgh in the 2023 ACC Tournament where it was 0-0 past the 100th minute. Damien Barker John gives D.C. United a viable striker at the 9 who may also have the versatility to play the 7 at right winger in the MLS with his size.

Damien Barker John is my forty third underclassmen to get picked in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft. I had this guy in the top 10, but nobody else had him in the first round.

  10. CF Montreal: Casper Mols, G, Kentucky

The 6-4 195 lb Casper Mols plays the 1 at goalie. Casper Mols is the top sophomore goalie in College Soccer not named Jayden Hibbert as he entered the year as the number two freshman in 2022 and the number two sophomore behind Jayden Hibbert in both 2022 and 2023.

The 21-year-old Casper Mols is from Denmark and will require an International roster slot if he gets promoted to the MLS. He started at Kentucky starting 16 games as a true freshman in 2022 during the undefeated season regular season Kentucky had going 11-1-4 with 7 shutouts, a 0.6 goals against average, a .700 save percentage, 28 saves, and played 1,417 minutes with the only loss occurring against the Pittsburgh Panthers when Kentucky was the top seed in the 2022 College Cup. This signature freshman season by Casper Mols led to Casper Mols winning the 2022 Sun Belt Goalie Of The Year award as a true freshman in 2022.

Casper Mols went to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to receive Awards following his freshman season at Kentucky. Casper Mols went 8-6-4 as a sophomore with 7 shutouts, a .750 save percentage, and a 1.17 goals against average in 18 starts after Kentucky lost a good core of their backline to graduation and the 2023 MLS Super Draft thanks to the departures of Robert Screen at right back and Luis Grassow at center back.

Casper Mols still did well enough to earn an invite to the 2023 MLS College Showcase even without Grassow at center back or Screen at right back. He didn't dominate from a production standpoint without those two, but still managed to play well enough to crack the list for draft eligible prospects in the 2024 MLS Super Draft as a true sophomore. Casper Mols is the forty fourth underclassmen that I've wrote about in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft and he's a great fit for a CF Montreal team that could draft a backup goalie to develop at some point in the third round of the 2024 MLS Super Draft.

  11. Portland Timbers: Peter Mangione, F, Penn State

The 5-10 170 lb Peter Mangione may not have the upside you covet, but he's one of the most consistent players in College Soccer over the last four years, and that should get him picked by an MLS franchise at some point in the first three rounds of the 2024 MLS Super Draft. Peter Mangione's draft ceiling is probably like 29 the final pick in the first round with his floor being pick 69 somwhere in the third round when taking the group of underclassmen for the 2024 MLS Super Draft into account.

Peter Mangione had 6 goals, 6 assists, 18 points, and started 10 of the 11 games he played in as a true freshman in the Spring of 2021. Peter Mangione had 7 goals, 4 assists, 18 points, started 20 of 21 games he played in as a sophomore, and won the 2021 Big Ten Offensive Player Of The Year award as a true sophomore in the Fall of 2021. Peter Mangione had 8 goals, 2 assists, 18 points, starting all 16 games Penn State played in as a junior in 2022. Peter Mangione had 10 goals, 4 assists, 24 points, started all 19 games Penn State played in, and won 2023 Big Ten Offensive Player Of The Year as a senior in 2023.

Peter Mangione plays the 9 at striker. He also has experience at the 7 at right winger and the 11 at left winger. His best position is central forward as Peter Mangione and Liam Butts were both central forwards when Penn State deployed two forwards. This year, Peter Mangione was the main forward on Penn State heading into 2023.

Peter Mangione gives the Portland Timbers a potential goal scoring striker in the third round. Peter Mangione had 65 career starts, 31 career goals, 16 career assists, 78 career points, 78 career points, 134 career shots with 47 of those shots taking place as a senior, 66 career shots on goal with 22 of those 66 shots on goal taking place this past season, 15 career game-winning goals with 6 of those goals coming as a senior, 9/10 on peanlty kicks, and 5,549 minutes played with Peter Mangione playing at least 1,400 minutes in each of the past three seasons at Penn State.

  12. Charlote FC: Finn McRobb, D, High Point

The 6-3 180 lb Finn McRobb had 5 goals, 0 assists, 10 points, and helped High Point produce 7 shutouts in 2023 even after Holden Trent got drafted by the Philadelphia Union in the first round of the 2023 MLS Super Draft. Finn McRobb can play the 4 at sweeper and the 5 at center back.

Finn McRobb shows flashes of first round ability. He may require an International roster slot being born outside of the United States in Glasgow, Scotland, which is why Finn McRobb will fall to the second or third round of the 2024 MLS Super Draft..

Charlotte FC has quality starters and backups at center backs on their MLS team. Finn McRobb is a local player that Charlotte FC can stash in MLS Next if he makes it to the third round of the 2024 MLS Super Draft, since he's too talented to go undrafted.

  13. San Jose Earthquakes: Yannick Bright, M, New Hampshire

San Jose has a ton of good center backs that they've drafed in the MLS Super Draft. San Jose drafts another center back that the Earthquakes can start out in MLS Next in 2024.

The 6-0 183 lb Yannick Bright has the versatility to play the 3 at right back and the 6 at defensive midfielder. Yannick Bright was a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist in all four seasons finishing in the tp 15 among College Soccer players in all four seasons at New Hampshire. His older brother Kevin Bright played for A.C. Milan.

  14. New York Red Bulls: Aidan O'Connell, D, Virginia

The 6-3 215 lb Aidan O'Connor is one of the biggest center backs in the 2024 MLS Super Draft. Aidan O'Connor has 0 goals, 2 assists, 2 points, and has helped Virginia record 6 shutouts in 2023. Aidan O'Connor is versatile enough to play the 4 at sweeper or the 5 at center back. Someone will gamble on Aidan O'Connell at some point in the 2024 MLS Super Draft.

  15. F.C. Dallas: Noah Adnan, D, Stanford

The 6-2 180 lb Noah Adnan played the 2 at left back at Stanford in 2022. He moved to the 5 at center back in 2023. Noah Adnan had 4 goals, 3 assists, 11 points, and has helped Stanford record 6 shutouts in 2023. Noah Adnan started at left back for his first two years at Stanford before moving to center back. That versatility and flexibility to play inside or outside should get Noah Adnan drafted. You can argue he's a junior redshirt, but Stanford's website has him as a seniork so I'm going to acknowledge Adnan as a senior.

  16. Vancouver Whitecaps: Ryan Schewe, G, Georgetown

Vancouver drafts a goalie that the organization can develop for the future. Georgetown goalie Ryan Schewe has started for Georgetown the last two years following the departure of 2022 third round pick Giannis Nikopoldis who was the starting goalie at Georgetown during Ryan Schewe's first two seasons at Georgetown.

The 6-4 185 lb Ryan Schewe plays the 1 at goalie. Ryan Schewe had a 0.74 goals against average, 57 saves, a .838 save percentage, a 11-2-1 record, 7 shutouts, faced 187 shots, 11 goals allowed, played 1,345 minutes, and started 15 games in 2022 as a junior redshirt. Ryan Schewe had a 0.84 goals against average, 29 saves, a. 707 save percentage, a 9-2-3 record, 5 shutouts, faced 134 shots, 12 goals allowed, played 1,280 minutes, and started 14 games as a senior redshirt in 2023.

After James Madison knocked out four seed Georgetown in the 2023 College Cup, Ryan Schewe accepted an invite to the 2023 MLS College Showcase. The two year starting goalie at Georgetown was consistent enough to get drafted in the 2024 MLS Super Draft.

  17. Nashville S.C.: KK Baffour, M, Notre Dame

The 5-8 145 lb KK Baffour was a two time Gatorade Player Of The Year in the State of Connecticut before enrolling into Notre Dame. KK Baffour is now a two year starter that plays the 11 at left winger for Notre Dame. He's from Ghana and may require an International roster slot unless you stash him in MLS Next. KK Baffour had 2 goals, 7 assists, and 11 points in 2023. KK Baffour is someone who can compete with Alex Meinhard, but with KK Baffour being 20 and Alex Meinhard being 25, I would think Nashville S.C. would rather stash KK Baffour and either leave him at Notre Dame, sign him to an MLS Next Deal, or bring him up to the MLS if he wows you.

KK Baffour is the forty fifth underclassmen in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft. KK Baffour was a essential piece for Notre Dame during their run in the 2023 College Cup.

  18. Real Salt Lake: David Jackson, M, Navy

The 5-9 160 lb David Jackson is one of the more consisent midfielders in the NCAA. David Jackson had 5 goals, 7 assists, 17 points, and helped Navy record 9 shutouts in the Fall of 2021. David Jackson had 6 goals, 3 assists, 15 points, helped Navy record 7 shutouts, and won 2022 Patriot League Midfielder Of The Year as a junior in 2022. David Jackson had 9 goals, 5 assists, 23 points, helped Navy record 8 shutouts, and won 2023 Patriot League Midfielder as a senior in 2023.

  19. Atlanta United F.C.: Riley Thomas, D, North Carolina

Atlanta United F.C. gave Garrett Tubbs a homegrown offer. Atlanta United F.C. will have to draft a center back at some point if they lose Miles Robinson to Free Agency. One player that could go here is North Carolina defender Riley Thomas.

The 6-0 170 lb Riley Thomas has the versatility to play the 2 at left back, the 5 at center back, the 6 at defensive midfielder, the 8 at central midfielder, and the 11 at left winger. Riley Thomas only had 1 assist on the year as a scorer, but he helped North Carolina produce 6 shutouts in 2023 making him somewhat of an asset for any backline.

  20. New England Revoultion: Ask Ekeland, M, Duquesne

New England has two young wingers with Tomas Chancalay at left winger, Noel Buck from England whose only 18. Carles Gil is one of the best 10's in the MLS at attacking midfielder. Matt Polster at defensive midfielder, DeJuan Jones at left back, Andrew Farrell at center back, Henry Kessler at center back, Brandon Bye at right back, and you also have Dave Romney who is also capable of starting if Farrell or Kessler gets injured. I gave New England Butler forwad Palmer Ault at 20 to be the striker of the future if Gustavo Bou leaves with his contract expiring. The thing is central midfielder is also an area you could upgrade if Mark Anthony-Kaye leaves. Even if Mark Anthony-Kaye sticks around, you will need more depth there.

The 6-3 180 lb Ask Ekeland had 8 goals, 1 assist, 17 points, took 36 shots, 3 game-winning goals, started all 19 games, and played 1,364 minutes as a true freshman on Duquesne in 2022. He even scored on the Pittsburgh Panthers defense as a true freshman when Pittsburgh made the Final 4 during Jackson Walti's senior season. Ask Ekeland had 12 goals, 3 assists, 27 points, took 50 shots, 5 game-winning goals, started all 18 games, and played 1,327 minutes as a true sophomore on Duquesne in 2023. Ask Ekeland also had a hat trick against Virginia Tech which is somewhat impressive for an Atlantic 10 Player to do against an ACC team. He was the 2023 Atlantic 10 midfielder of the year. Ask Ekeland is versatile enough to play the 8 at central midfielder and the 10 at attacking midfielder.

Worst case scenario, Ask Ekeland remains at Duquesne or plays in MLS Next for two more years and doesn't sign with the New England Revolution. Best case scenario, Ask Ekeland ends up on the England Revolution as a central midfielder downt he road. This feels like a low risk high reward situation for Duquesne's attacking midfelder who turns 21 in April after growing up playing soccer in Norway before enrolling at Duquesne. Ask Ekeland is the forty sixth underclassmen to get picked.

  21. St. Louis City SC: Kenny Nielsen, D, Georgetown

St. Louis City SC can go with the best player available in the third round. I gave St. Louis City SC a center back for depth.

The 5-10 170 lb Kenny Nielsen helped Georegtown record 7 shutouts 14 starts as a freshman after not recording any points 0 from goals or assists in the Spring of 2021. Kenny Nielsen had 1 goal, 0 assists, 2 points, and 7 shutouts as a sophomore where he took Georgetown to the 2021 College Cup in the Fall of 2021. Kenny Nielsen had 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 points, and 6 shutouts in 2022. Kenny Nielsen had 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 points, and 6 shutouts so far in 2023.

Kenny Nielsen can play the 2 at left back, the 3 at right back, the 4 at sweeper, and the 5 at center back. Kenny Nielsen mainly plays center back, but has the size and versatility to play anywhere on the backline. He's also extremely durable with 71 career starts at Georegtown.

  22. Sporting Kansas City: Sam Gomez, G, SIU Edwardsville

Sporting Kansas City has stability at a lot of positions. There's one goalie left in this 2024 MLS Super Draft whose good enough to get drafted with SIU Edwardsville goalie Sam Gomez, who was the top goalie in my last MLS Mock Draft and he's coming off the board here since the other teams left in the 2024 MLS Super Draft all have more stable goaltending situations in MLS and MLS Next than Sporting Kansas City. Goalie isn't an issue for Sporting Kansas City, but it never hurts to bring in a goalie through the MLS Super Draft and develop them when a quality keeper becomes available. I had Sam Gomez at 21 in my two round 2024 MLS Mock Draft, so the value Sam Gomez brings at this point late in the third round is too great to ignore.

The 6-1 180 lb Sam Gomez was a former Syracuse goalie who transferred to SIU Edwardsville due to a lack of playing time. Sam Gomez had a 0.61 goals against average, a .844 save percentage, 65 saves, 10 shutouts, 12 goals allowed, and went 16-1-3 on the year winning the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Goalie Of The Year Award due to Sam Gomez going 16-0-3 during the regular season. Memphis knocked out SIU Edwardsville in the round of 48 of the 2023 College Cup despite a strong performance by SIU Edwardsville in the first year of the Ohio Valley Conference.

  23. Seattle Sounders: Morris Duggan, D, Marshall

The 6-4 205 lb Morris Duggan can play the 4 at sweeper or the 5 at center back. Morris Duggan had 2 goals, 2 assists, 6 points, and the 2023 Sun Belt Defensive Player Of The Year has helped Marshall record 10 shutouts starting in 9 of those shutouts at center back as a junior redshirt in 2023. He's the underclassmen in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft.

Morris Duggan may require an International roster spot in MLS, but you can stash him in MLS Next while Morris Duggan develops for a year in MLS Next. Morris Duggan was also touted as the anchor of the Marshall Thundering Herd's backline by one Marshall insider that messages me with Marshall soccer updates on Facebook. The other benefit to taking a flyer on him at 28 is that he is one of the biggest center backs in the 2024 MLS Super Draft. Morris Duggan is the forty seventh underclassmen to get picked in my 2024 MLS Mock Draft.

  24. Philadelphia Union: Simon Carlson, M, Georgia State

Philadelphia gets another midfielder here. The 5-7 127 lb Simon Carlson has the versatility to play the 7 at right winger, the 8 at central midfielder, the 9 at striker, the 10 at attacking midfielder, and the 11 at left winger. He was literally a Swiss Army Knife for Georgia State this Fall. The 21-year-old Simon Carlson will be 22 on March 7, 2024.

Simon Carlson had 6 goals, 1 assist, and 12 points on Georgia State as a senior in 2023. He's also got USL Experience as he played in USL2 during the Spring. One will argue that Carlson's production is underwhelming, but he makes up for it with his versatility and that's exactly why an MLS team could gamble on Carlson.

  25. Orlando City S.C.: Luke McCormick, M, West Virginia

Orlando City S.C. can stash Luke McCormick in MLS Next since he will require an International roster slot upon being promoted. Luke McCormick is versatile enough to play the 6 at defensive midfielder, the 7 at right winger, the 8 at central midfielder, and the 10 at attacking midfielder.

Luke McCormick had 7 goals, 3 assists, and 17 points on West Virginia when playing the 7 at right winger in 2023. Luke McCormick was the leader in West Virginia's clubhouse and locker room. He can be the giver and taker, but chose to be the giver on West Virginia in 2023. West Virginia was not the same team when reaching the 2023 College Cup in Louisville, Kentucky following the injury to Luke McCormick in the quarterfinals against Loyola Maryland in the Elite 8 of the 2023 College Cup.

  26. Houston Dynamo F.C.: Zane Bubb, D, Central Florida

Houston Dynamo F.C. adds antoher center back here who can develop into an eventual starter next to Ethan Barltow. Zane Bubb is one of the oldest players in the 2024 MLS Super Draft, but he's got great size and good film. He's also a domestic born player from Jacksonville, Florida so it is possible he gets picked.

The 6-3 200 lb Zane Bubb can score goals with headers on corner kicks. Zane Bubb has the best slide tackle of any prospect in the entire 2024 MLS Super Draft. Zane Bubb's defense was a big reason why Central Florida defeated Clemson in Central Florida's season opener in 2023.

If he wasn't 23-years-old turning 24 in January, you could honeslty make an argument for Zane Bubb in the first round. Zane Bubb's skill set is that good and he could end up being one of these second or third round picks drafted outside of the first round that goes straight to the MLS like Jasper Loeffelsend did following the 2022 MLS Super Draft. Zane Bubb is a domestic born player while Jasper Loeffelsend was from Germany which only helps Bubb out.

Zane Bubb played at Virginia Tech before transferring to Central Florida. Zane Bubb has the versatility to play the 4 at sweeper and the 5 at center back.

Zane Bubb can execute long passes if your team is down by a goal in a big game. He plays with a lot of urgency when it matters. Zane Bubb had 2 goals, 0 assists, 4 points, and helped Central Florida record 4 shutouts with one of those four shutouts coming against Kentucky in 2023.

  27. Toronto F.C.: Ryan Baer, M, West Virginia

The 5-8 140 lb Ryan Baer had 0 goals, 2 assists, and helped West Virginia record 9 shutouts as a team captain on West Virginia in 2023. Ryan Baer is arguably the biggest leader on this West Virginia team outside of Luke McCormick and that leadership could get him drafted somewhere in the 2024 MLS Super Draft. Ryan Baer seems like an ideal player to play the 6 at defensive midfielder with his skill set.

  28. LAFC: Nick Atkinson, D, Army

LAFC drafts a second defenseman. The 5-11 160 lb Nick Atkinson played the 2 at left back in 2021, he moved to the 3 at right back in 2022, and played both the 4 at sweeper and the 5 at center back in 2023. Nick Atkinson is versatile enough the 2 at left back, the 3 at right back, the 4 at sweeper, and the 5 at center back.

  29. Columbus Crew: Ryan Friedberg, G, Cornell

Columbus can go best player on the board. Columbus has a great starter and backup goalie which are both coming back, but Ryan Friedberg was a second round prospect in my initial final mock draft before Pape Mar Boye was no longer a Generation Adidas Candidate.

The 6-5 205 lb Ryan Friedberg went 13-4-1 with 18 games started, 19 goals allowed, a 1.06 goals against average, 42 saves, a .689 save percentage, 1,620 minutes played, 3 shutouts, and 177 shots faced as a true freshman in 2022. Ryan Friedberg went 6-3-3 with 12 games started, 12 goals allowed, a 1.00 goals against average, 24 saves, a .667 save percentage, 1,080 minutes played, 3 shutouts, and 89 shots faced as a sophomore in 2022. Ryan Friedberg has started 30 games, played 2,700 minutes, surrendered 31 goals, posted a 1.03 goals against average, 66 saves, a .680 save percentage, went 19-7-4, had 6 shutouts, and faced 266 shots in two seasons at Cornell.

Ryan Friedberg is about somewhere between the age of 19 and 21. Ryan Friedberg is the forty eighth underclassmen that I've mocked in this 2024 MLS Mock Draft. He will remain at Conrell for two more years if Columbus takes him, but he could be a decent backup to Patrick Schulte 3-5 years down the road if the Crew can remain patient with Friedberg.
