Las Vegas Aces 2024 Season Preview

The Las Vegas Aces won the last two WNBA Finals thanks to center A'ja Wilson. Can the Las Vegas Aces win a third straight WNBA Championship in 2024?

The Las Vegas Aces went 34-6 in 2023, but can they improve on that in 2024? The Las Vegas Aces have Chelsea Gray at point guard, Jackie Young at shooting guard, Kelsey Plum at small forward, Alyssa Clark taking over for Candace Parker at power forward, and A'ja Wilson at center. The Las Vegas Aces have four of their five starters from their last two teams that won the 2022 WNBA Finals and the 2023 WNBA Finals.
Chelsea Gray had 15.3 points per game, 7.3 assists per game, and 4 rebounds per game at point guard in 2023. Jackie Young had 17.6 points per game, 4 rebounds per game, and 3.8 assists per game at shooting guard in 2023. Kelsey Plum had 18.7 points per game, 4.5 assists per game, 2.4 rebounds per game, and 1.1 steals per game at small forward in 2023. A'ja Wilson had 22.8 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, 1.4 steals per game, and 2.2 blocks per game at center in 2023.
Kelsey Plum and Alyssa Clark enter contract years. Las Vegas already extended Chelase Gray, Jackie Young, and A'ja Wilson.
Las Vegas should return to the 2024 WNBA Playoffs, but I don't think they three peat. Nobody had a good starting five in 2022 which allowed the Las Vegas Aces to win their first WNBA Championship. Las Vegas and New York were the only good teams with starting fives in 2023. This year, New York and Dallas both have better starting fives than Las Vegas. You can also make an argument for Seattle, Los Angeles, and Indiana having better starting fives than Las Vegas. If Alyssa Clark can break out in 2024, then Las Vegas has a great shot to return to the 2024 WNBA Finals, but she only averaged 6.7 points per game off of the bench and I don't believe she breaks out. I got Las Vegas losing in the second round of the playoffs to the Dallas Wings with the New York Liberty defeating the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA Finals.
