Dallas Wings 2024 Season Preview

The Dallas Wings were able to get out of the first round of the 2023 WNBA Playoffs with Arike Ogunbowale. Can the Dallas Wings take the next step in 2024?

The Dallas Wings went 22-18 in 2023, but they should improve on that in 2024. The Dallas Wings have Arike Ogunbowale at point guard, Jacy Sheldon at shooting guard, Natasha Howard at small forward, Satou Sabally at power forward, and Tiaira McCowan at center.
Arike Ogunbowale played all 40 WNBA games and had 21.2 points per game, 4.5 assists per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 1.7 steals per game on the Dallas Wings in 2023. Jacy Sheldon 19.7 points per game, 4.2 assists per game, and 5.8 rebounds per game at Ohio State before being drafted fifth overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Natasha Howard had 16.5 points per game, 8 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, 1.3 steals per game, and 1.2 blocks per game at small forward on the Dallas Wings in 2023. Satou Sabally had 18.6 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, 4.4 assists per game, and 1.8 steals per game at power forward on the Dallas Wings in 2023. Tiaira McCowan had 11.9 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game, and 1.5 assists per game in 2023.
The Dallas Wings have Arike Ogunbowale under contract until 2026. Jacy Sheldon is on a rookie deal until 2028. Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally enter contract years at both forward spots and Tiaira McCowan is under contract until 2026. The Dallas Wings have $449,293 for 2025 and their two starting forwards will cost $435,000 so they got just enough money to retain their starting five for next season. However, if the Chicago Sky win the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery, the Dallas Wings will have the first pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and could reload at power forward while paying Natasha Howard.
The Dallas Wings should get back to the Semifinals once again. After getting swept by the Las Vegas Aces a year ago, this team is the defacto challenger to the Las Vegas Aces in the Western Conference this season. I can see the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA Finals since the loss to Candace Parker at power forward is a big one and even though I love the depth of the Aces, I'm not sure it will be enough for Las Vegas to three peat this upcoming season.
