Bills News NFL: Buffalo Bills are putting bigger targets in the slot like wide receivers Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes.

Buffalo Bills Free Agency Recap

The Bills got A.J. McCarron as a stop gap quarterback in Free Agency. Buffalo also downgraded at center by bringing in Russell Bodine to replace Eric Wood who retired due to injuries. Trent Murphy is expected to play 4-3 left end. Buffalo also added 4-3 defensive tackle Star Lotulelei and cornerback Vontae Davis in Free Agency.

Buffalo Bills Draft Recap

Buffalo traded up in the 2018 NFL Draft to draft Josh Allen as a quarterback out of Wyoming. They also got Tremaine Edmunds at middle linebacker who will start right away. They got some other quality backups in the 2018 NFL Draft who could be starters down the road like Harrison Phillips and Wyatt Teller.

Buffalo Bills Quarterback Summary: Buffalo has A.J. McCarron, Nathan Peterman, and Josh Allen competing for the starting quarterback job in Buffalo. And then there were two quarterbacks after A.J. McCarron suffered a season ending injury. Now its Nate Peterman VS Josh Allen. David Culley did well in his first season as a quarterbacks coach. Now he will have a much bigger challenge with Tyrod Taylor being gone.

Buffalo Bills Running Back Summary: Buffalo should continue giving LeSean McCoy the football. Buffalo should have gotten depth behind McCoy. They didn't and there is a chance McCoy misses time if he gets suspended. Right now, it looks like McCoy will play week 1. Kelly Skipper enters his second season with the Bills as their running backs coach.

Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver Summary: Kelvin Benjamin is the top target for Buffalo's quarterback. Andre Holmes and Corey Coleman are also there. Zay Jones struggled as a rookie. Terry Robiskie is the wide receivers coach. Benjamin is the only receiver that I see as reliable.

Buffalo Bills Tight End Summary: Charles Clay, Nick O'Leary, and Logan Thomas are available at tight end. Buffalo's depth at tight end is a strength. Offfensive coordinator Brian Daboll has experience coaching tight ends and wide receivers.

Buffalo Bills Offensive Line Summary: Dion Dawkins took over at left tackle when Cordy Glenn was injured last year as a rookie. Right guard John Miller is really the only player on this offenive line that I like. Russell Bodine and Jordan Mills both suck and have no business starting. Juan Castillo was an offensive line coach with the Baltimore Ravens the last three years. He is also going to be a running game coordinator calling the running plays during Buffalo's practice sessions. Castillo did good enough to end the Bills' playoff drought. He's a good offensive line coach as far as run blocking goes, but he will have his hands full with an offensive line this ineffective.

Buffalo is a team that I'm expecting to be ranked in the bottom of the league in nearly every offensive category. I expect the Bills to go through a huge rebuild.

Buffalo Bills Defensive Line Summary: Buffalo will have Jerry Hughes at 4-3 right end, Kyle Williams at 4-3 defensive tackle, Star Lotulelei at 4-3 defensive tackle, and Trent Murphy at 4-3 left end. Bill Teerlinck takes over as the defensive line coach after previously being the assistant defensive line coach with the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo Bills Linebacker Summary: Matt Milano is playing 4-3 right outside linebacker. You got Tremaine Edmunds starting at 4-3 middle linebacker with Lorenzo Alexander starting at 4-3 left outside linebacker. This can be a strong core if Matt Milano steps up.

Head coach Sean McDermott specializes with developing linebackers. Linebacker coach Bob Babich also specializes in this department.

Buffalo Bills Defensive Backs Summary: Buffalo has Tre'Davious White at field cornerback with Vontae Davis at boundary cornerback. Micah Hyde is starting at strong safety with Jordan Poyer starting at free safety.

Leslie Frazier specializes in developing defensive backs so his coaching compliments McDermott well. John Butler is the new defensive backs coach. Buffalo fired their defensive backs coach from last season which didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me.

Buffalo is a top 20 defense in points allowed. They are a top 15 defense in total yards allowed. The potential to be a top 12 run defense and a top 12 pass defense is there, but the Bills are going to be ranked twenty fifth out of thirty two NFL teams in sacks which is the main thing that I think will keep the Bills from having a major impact with their defense.

Buffalo Bills Special Teams Summary: Steven Hauschka is a huge upgrade over Dan Carpenter. I'm not sold on Colton Schmidt at punter, but unlike Dan Carpenter he kept his job. Taiwan Jones is the kick returner and Marcus Murphy is the punt returner.

Danny Crossman returns as the special teams coordinator. I am pretty sure Crossman was the only coach on this entire staff to keep his job from last season.

Buffalo Bills Worst Case Scenario: The Buffalo Bills go 1-15 and have one of the leagues worst records.

Buffalo Bills Best Case Scenario: Buffalo goes 7-9. They do better then people expect, but still have a losing record.

Buffalo Bills 2018 Projected Record (2-14): Buffalo had a better coaching staff and a better quarterback last year. I think the Bills making the playoffs last season hurt them cause now they get a much tougher strength of schedule in 2018. I expect the Bills to be one of the NFL's worst teams in 2018. With A.J. McCarron being on injured reserve and out for the year now Buffalo has to go 16 games with Nate Peterman and Josh Allen with this poor offensive line. Buffalo is now the undisputed favorite to have the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
