Tony Mario's 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Final Mock 7 Rounds

Round 7

Tony Mario follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: April 25, 2024.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs: Devin Leary, QB, Kentucky

Kansas City has Patrick Mahomes locked up as their starting quarterback while backup Carson Wentz is on a one year deal. Kentucky quarterback Devin Leary gets drafted to be the long-term backup to Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City even if he has to start out as the third string quarterback as a rookie.

  2. Washington Commanders: P.J. Jules, FS, Southern Illinois

Washington has Darrick Forrest at strong safety in a contracct year and Percy Butler at free safety. Jeremy Chinn signed with Washington and is competing with Darrick Forrest for the strong safety job. Southern Illinois free safety P.J. Jules gets drafted here, but will be the number four safety on Washington's depth chart as well as the backup free safety to Percy Butler.

  3. Las Vegas Raiders: Cam Allen, SS, Purdue

Las Vegas uses this seventh round pick from New England on a safety. Las Vegas has Marcus Epps at strong safety and Tre'von Moehrig their 2021 second round pick out of TCU at free safety with both safeties in contract years. One safety that hits hard and plays with a lot of intensity is Purdue strong safety Cam Allen.

  4. Cincinnati Bengals: Layden Robinson, RG, Texas A&M

Cincinnati has Alex Cappa at right guard. Jaxson Kirkland an undrafted Free Agent out of Washington is the backup right guard. Cincinnati drafts Layden Robinson to push Kirkland for the backup right guard job.

  5. Los Angeles Chargers: Thomas Harper, SS, Notre Dame

The Los Angeles Chargers get a safety for depth. Derwin James is the starting strong safety, Alohi Gilman starts at free safety, JT Woods is the backup free safety and number three safety on this depth chart, and Notre Dame safety Thomas Harper gives the Chargers a backup strong safety and number four safety on this depth chart.

  6. Arizona Cardinals: Fabian Lovett, NT, Florida State

Arizona gets a backup nose tackle to Khyris Tonga in the seventh round. Florida State defensive tackle Fabian Lovett has the size to play nose tackle in the NFL.

  7. Cleveland Browns: Jordan Jefferson, DT, LSU

Cleveland got this pick by trading a third string fourth string offensive tackle that wasn't going to make the Cleveland Browns roster for a seventh round pick. Cleveland adds one more defensive tackle for depth in Jordan Jefferson whose also the little brother of Justin Jefferson.

  8. Baltimore Ravens: Brennan Armstrong, QB, North Carolina State

Baltimore lost Tyler Huntley. Lamar Jackson the two time MVP will remain the starter. Baltimore drafts North Carolina State quarterback Brennan Armstrong to push both Josh Johnson and Malik Cunningham for a roster spot in training camp.

  9. Las Vegas Raiders: Jahwar Jordan, RB, Louisville

Las Vegas has Zamir White as the starting running back and Alexander Mattison as the backup running back. Ameer Abdullah should be the third string running back. Louisville running back Jahwar Jordan will compete with Brittian Brown, the Las Vegas Raiders 2022 seventh round pick out of UCLA for the fourth string running back job now that Josh Jacobs is gone.

  10. Minnesota Vikings: Tahj Washington, WR, USC

Minnesota's wide receiver depth kind of sucks at the moment. I won't be surprised if Minnesota drafts a second wide receiver to push for a roster spot in the late rounds.

  11. New England Patriots: Solomon Byrd, 3-4 ROLB, USC

The New England Patriots have Matt Judon and Josh Uche starting at both 3-4 outside linebacker spots with Anfernee Jennings as a situational edge rusher. Solomon Byrd becomes the number four pass rusher.

  12. Minnesota Vikings: Caedan Wallace, RT, Penn State

Minnesota drafts a right tackle for depth. Penn State right tackle Caedan Wallace will be the number four offensive tackle on this depth chart.

Here's a film cut of Penn State's offensive line VS Ohio State. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  13. Dallas Cowboys: Harrison Mevis, K, Missouri

Dallas drafts a kicker. Harrison Mevis can make field goals from 61 yards and there is also no dead cap in Brandon Aubrey's contract. If Dallas wants to move on from Aubrey they can at any given time given there is no dead cap in Brandon Aubrey's contract.

  14. Indianapolis Colts: Blake Watson, RB, Memphis

Indianapolis has Jonathan Taylor as their starting running back and Evan Hull as the backup running back with those two being the top two running backs for the next three years. Memphis running back Blake Watson could be the Indianapolis Colts third string running back his first three years and if he proves himself in limited action, maybe he gets an opportunity to start by 2027 in the final year of his rookie deal. Most likely, Watson will be nothing more than a third string running back.

  15. Seattle Seahawks: Tyler Owens, SS, Texas Tech

Seattle has Rayshawn Jenkins at strong safety, Julian Love at free safety, K'Von Wallace is the backup strong safety, and Coby Bryant is moving inside from cornerback to free safety. Seattle drafts one more safety to push for a roster spot in the second round.

  16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jalen Crumedy, 3-4 RE, Mississippi State

Jacksonville gets a backup 3-4 right end to Arik Armstead. Jalen Crumedy is a great value pick in the seventh round.

  17. Cincinnati Bengals: Joshua Cephus, WR, USTA

Cincinnati gets a second wide receiver to push the second team wide receivers on the roster. This way the Cincinnati Bengals hav six wide receivers on the depth chart in case Tee Higgins gets traded before the start of the regular season. If Tee Higgins sticks around, Joshua Cephus may begin his career on the Bengals practice squad.

  18. Houston Texans: Michael Barrett, MLB, Michigan

Houston a competiton at middle linebacker with Denzel Perryman gone. Azeez Al-Shaair, Jacob Phillips from the Cleveland Browns, Henry To'oTo'o, Neville Hewitt, and Michael Barrett will compete for this spot. Henry To'oTo'o is expected to move to 4-3 left outside linebacker after being a backup inside linebacker last year. Michael Barrett out of Michigan could end up starting, but he could also end up starting out on the Houston Texans practice squad. Who knows what happens with Michael Barrett and how he develops.

  19. New Orleans Saints: Nathan Pickering, DT, Mississippi State

New Orleans drafts a defensive tackle to push for a roster spot. Nathan Pickering could become the number four defensive tackle on the New Orleans Saints depth chart behind Khalen Saunders, Nathan Shepherd, and Bryan Bresee with this seventh round pick.

  20. Carolina Panthers: Akeem Dent, SS, Florida State

The Carolina Panthers have Xavier Woods at strong safety, Jordan Fuller at free safety, Nick Scott is the number three safety on this depth chart at swing safety, Jammie Robinson last years fifth round pick out of Florida State is the number four safety on this depth chart after hardly playing as a rookie. Akeem Dent may begin on the practice squad, but him and Jammie Robinson could be starting in 2025 if Carolina cannot retain Woods, Fuller, or Scott who are all on one year deals in 2024.

  21. Miami Dolphins: Jaylin Harrell, 3-4 LOLB, Michigan

Miami has Bradley Chubb at 3-4 right outside linebacker, Jaelan Phillips as the 3-4 left outside linebacker, and Shaquille Barrett as the backup 3-4 right outside linebacker whose also a situational pass rusher. Jaylin Harrell could probably take the backup 3-4 left outside linebacker job from 2022 seventh round pick Cameron Goode.

  22. Tennesssee Titans: Ryan Flournoy, WR, Southeast Missouri State

Tennessee adds more wide receiver depth. Ryan Flournoy could be a nice backup wide receiver to develop for the future.

  23. Cleveland Browns: Trey Taylor, SS, Air Force

Cleveland gets one more safety for depth. Trey Taylor could push veterans on an already stacked Cleveland Browns safety group for a roster spot since Trey Taylor won the 2023 Jim Thorpe Award while wowing people with his highlights.

  24. Dallas Cowboys: Jake Westover, TE, Washington

Dallas gets a tight end to compete for a roster spot. Jake Westover was the backup tight end to Devin Culp on Washington's undefeated team that lost the National Championship to Michigan. I believe both tight ends get drafted for Washington.

  25. Green Bay Packers: Myles Harden, CB, South Dakota

Green Bay gets one cornerback to push for a roster spot. Myles Harden is a nice small school cornerback in the FCS that will warrant late-round consideration.

  26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tejhaun Palmer, WR, UAB

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Trent Dilfer now the head coach at UAB is raving about Tejhaun Palmer. I won't be surprised if Tampa Bay drafts Tejhaun Palmer for depth at wide receiver with their final selection in the seventh round thanks to the Trent Dilfer connection.

  27. Houston Texans: Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss

Houston gets one more wide receiver to stash for depth. Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris has a legit shot to become a return specialist on Houston.

  28. Buffalo Bills: Jacob Roberts, MLB, Wake Forest

Buffalo drafts a linebacker to compete for a roster spot. Wake Forest middle linebacker Jacob Roberts had to fight for the starting middle linebacker job at Wake Forest and now he has to fight for a roster spot in Buffalo.

  29. Detroit Lions: Isaac Rex, TE, BYU

Detroit gets a tight end for depth. Isaac Rex, the T-Rex of the BYU offense in 2023 gets drafted by Detroit to compete for a roster spot in 2024. There's a good chance he starts out on the practice squad. This T-Rex may be all bark no bite if he cannot crack Detroit's final 53 man roster.

  30. Baltimore Ravens: Braiden McGregor, 3-4 ROLB, Michigan

Baltimore gets a 3-4 right outside linebacker here. Braiden McGregor would be re-united with David Ojabo in Baltimore.

  31. San Francisco 49ers: Dylan McMahon, C, North Carolina State

San Francisco drafts a center to be the backup to Jake Brendel. Dylan McMahon is a good option in the seventh round. San Francisco can also move Jon Feliciano to backup center and start Dylan McMahon on the practice squad if he struggles in training camp.

  32. Tennessee Titans: Kalen DeLoach, 3-4 MLB, Florida State

Tennessee needs a 3-4 middle linebacker. Kalen DeLoach is the first seventh round pick that could realistically end up being a day 1 starter in this scenario.

  33. Los Angeles Chargers: Cameron Little, K, Arkansas

Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 253 thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs signing a contract with Los Angeles Chargers 2019 fourth round pick Drue Tranquill during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Drue Tranquill is moving to 4-3 right outside linebacker this year after getting extended.

Los Angeles gets a kicker to push Cameron Dicker for a roster spot with their last pick. Cameron Little is a bargain here.

  34. Los Angeles Rams: Ladarius Henderson, LG, Michigan

Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 254 thanks to the Cincinnati Bengals signing a contract with Los Angeles Rams 2019 seventh round pick Nick Scott during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Nick Scott signed with the Carolina Panthers this offseason.

Los Angeles drafts Michigan left tackle Ladarius Henderson to kick inside to left guard. He will be the backup left guard to Jonah Jackson.

  35. Green Bay Packers: Tatum Bethune, ROLB, Florida State

Green Bay got this compensation pick at 255 thanks to 3-4 defensive end Dean Lowry signing with Minnesota Vikings during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Dean Lowry signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during Free Agency.

Green Bay drafts a right outside linebacker for depth behind Quay Walker. Tatum Bethune is a good value pick here.

  36. Denver Broncos: Myles Murphy, NT, North Carolina

New York got this compensation pick at 256 thanks to the Miami Dolphins signing a contract with 2018 fifth round pick Mike White during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Mike White is now the backup quarterback on the Miami Dolphins. Denver acquired this pick after trading for New York Jets 2021 first round pick Zach Wilson.

North Carolina defensive tackle Myles Murphy showed the versatility to play 4-3 defensive tackle, 3-4 right end, 3-4 left end, and 3-4 nose tackle. Denver drafts him to compete for a roster spot making Myles Murphy the ninth defensive linemen on Denver entering training camp.

  37. New York Jets: David White, WR, Western Carolina

New York got this compensation pick at 257 thanks to Chicago Bears signing guard Dan Feeney during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Dan Feeney signed with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.

New York drafts one more wide receiver for depth. David White a wide receiver on Western Carolina is my Mr. Irrelevant. Three years ago, I correctly predicted Grant Stuard out of Houston as Mr. Irrelevant to the Tampa Bay Buccaneeers following Tampa Bay's Super Bowl 55 win.
