Tony Mario's 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Final Mock 7 Rounds

Round 6

Tony Mario follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: April 25, 2024.

  1. Minnesota Vikings: Johnny Dixon, CB, Penn State

Minnesota needs one more cornerback to stash and develop for depth. Penn State cornerback Johnny Dixon makes a lot sense for Minnesota to start the sixth round.

  2. Pittsburgh Steelers: Gabe Hall, 3-4 RE, Baylor

Pittsburgh gets a 3-4 right end for depth behind Cameron Heyward. Gabe Hall would be competing with Dean Lowry, Isaiahh Loudermilk, and DeMarvin Leal for a roster spot meaning he wouldn't be guaranteed shit as a late-round pick.

  3. Seattle Seahawks: Tip Reiman, TE, Illinois

Seattle drafts a backup tight end to challenge Pharoah Brown for a roster spot with Noah Fant starting at tight end. Tip Reiman had the most bench press reps of any tight end in the draft at the 2024 NFL Combine.

  4. New England Patriots: Brevyn Spann-Ford, TE, Minnesota

New England has Hunter Henry starting at tight end and Austin Hooper as the backup tight end. Brevyn Spann-Ford could crack this roster as a third string tight end.

  5. Los Angeles Chargers: Drake Nugent, C, Michigan

The Los Angeles Chargers get a center for insurance. Drake Nugent could end up being the backup center to Bradley Bozeman if Cory Linsley retires.

  6. Tennessee Titans: Eric Watts, 3-4 LOLB, Connecticut

Tennessee gets a pass rusher for depth. Eric Watts would be a good backup to Harold Landry.

  7. New York Giants: Cedric Johnson, 3-4 ROLB, Ole Miss

New York has Kayvon Thibodeaux as their starting 3-4 right outside linebacker and Brian Burns as their starting 3-4 left outside linebacker. Azeez Ojulari last years 3-4 left outside linebacker is now the situational edge rusher. Ole Miss pass rusher Cedric Johnson becomes the number four 3-4 outside linebacker on this roster..

  8. Miami Dolphins: Dallin Holker, TE, Colorado State

The Miami Dolphins get a day 1 starter in the sixth round. Not only is Dallin Holker an upgrade over everyone Miami has, he can run every route on the route tree like the consensus top tight ends. This is a spot where Dallin Holker could end up being a day 1 starter.

  9. New York Jets: Javon Solomon, ROLB, Troy

New York gets a backup right outside linebacker to Quincy Williams. Javon Solomon would give the New York Jets a third pass rusher to compliment Jermaine Johnson II at 4-3 right end and Haason Reddick at 4-3 left end.

  10. Arizona Cardinals: Sam Hartman, QB, Notre Dame

Arizona has Kyler Murray under contract until 2029 and Desmond Ridder on his rookie deal for two more years. Sam Hartman may have upside to develop into a starter, but he's a long-term project who would most likely take the third string quarterback job from Clayton Tune after Clayton Tune's god awful performance against the Cleveland Browns. With hard work and patience Sam Hartman can become Kyler Murray's backup by 2026. As long as Kyler Murray is there in Arizona, he will be the guy meaning Sam Hartman will not play unless Kyler Murray is injured in 2026 or later unless both Kyler Murray and Desmond Ridder are injured in 2024 and 2025.

Sam Hartman does have a higher ceiling than Clayton Tune. The thing is Clayton Tune is younger, so Sam Hartman would have to earn this third string roster spot by beating out Tune for it in the preseason.

Here's a film cut of Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman VS Ohio State. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  11. Atlanta Falcons: Marcus Harris, 3-4 LE, Auburn

Atlanta drafts a backup to Zach Harrison at 3-4 left end. Marcus Harris is a good 3-4 defensive end to stash for depth.

  12. Houston Texans: Frank Crum, LT, Wyoming

Houston needs a backup left tackle for depth behind Laremy Tunsil with David Sharpe as the current backup left tackle. Frank Crum is raw, but an upgrade over David Sharpe. He ran a good 40-time at the 2024 NFL Combine and might be ready to start at left tackle by 2027 in the final year of his rookie deal when Laremy Tunsil becomes a unrestricted Free Agent.

  13. Houston Texans: Jalyx Hunt, ROLB, Houston Christian

Houston drafts Houston Christian pass rusher Jalyx Hunt for depth at outside linebacker. He gives you depth behind Christian Harris at right outside linebacker.

  14. New Orleans Saints: Tanner McLachlan, TE, Arizona

New Orleans drafts a long-term project here. Tanner McLachlan would replace Jimmy Graham as the fourth string tight end with all of the New Orleans Saints tight ends back for another season.

  15. Indianapolis Colts: Kitan Oladipo, FS, Oregon State

Indianapolis has Nick Cross and Rodney Thomas II competing at strong safety. Julian Blackmon is back at free safety. Oregon State safety Kita Oladipo would compete with last years fifth round pick Daniel Scott for a roster spot.

  16. Seattle Seahawks: Isaiah Adams, LG, Illinois

Isaiah Adams will be a backup left guard to Laken Tomlinson this upcoming season. He might start in 2025 if he develops though.

  17. New England Patriots: Kenny Logan Jr., SS, Kansas

Jacksonville traded this pick to New England for Mac Jones as a backup to Trevor Lawrence. New England has Kyle Dugger at strong safety and Jabrill Peppers at free safety. New England added Jaylin Hawkins from the Los Angeles Chargers as a backup free safety. New England drafts the most consistent tackler at safety to be a backup to Kyle Dugger since Kenny Logan Jr. is a sound tackler despite being rough around the edges in coverage.

  18. Cincinnati Bengals: Xavier Thomas, LE, Clemson

Cincinnati re-unites Xavier Thomas with last years 2023 first round pick Myles Murphy. Now Cincinnati has six different pass rushers that can get after the quarterback currently under contract. This definitely gives the Cincinnati Bengals wiggle room to trade Joseph Ossai or Cam Sample who both enter the final year on their rookie deals.

  19. Pittsburgh Steelers: Tory Taylor, P, Iowa

The Pittsburgh Steelers draft Tory Taylor the top punter in the 2024 NFL Draft. Cameron Johnston is 32-years-old, but just signed a three year contract with Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh may have to roll with two punters in 2024 if they draft Tory Taylor before cutting Cameron Johnston to save cap space.

  20. Los Angeles Rams: Demani Richardson, SS, Texas A&M

Los Angeles ghas Kamren Curl at strong safety and Russ Yeast at free safety. Jason Taylor II is the backup free safety. Demani Richardson could become the backup strong safety.

  21. Atlanta Falcons: Jha'Quan Jackson, WR, Tulane

Atlanta drafts a wide receiver that they can stash and develop. Atlanta already has Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Rondale Moore as their top three options. Best case scenario for Tulane wide receiver Jha'Quan Jackson is he starts at slot receiver by 2025.

  22. Miami Dolphins: Ainis Smith, WR, Texas A&M

Miami is stacked at wide receiver. Miami feels like a team that drafts a wide receiver every year though.

  23. New Orleans Saints: Austin Reed, QB, Western Kentucky

New Orleans gets a quarterback for depth here. Austin Reed could compete with Nate Peterman for a roster spot.

  24. Buffalo Bills: Dylan Laube, RB, New Hampshire

Buffalo uses this 2024 sixth round pick from Dallas to draft a running back for depth. Dylan Laube is the best pass catching running back in the 2024 NFL Draft as he compliments James Cook quite well as a backup.

  25. Detroit Lions: Jordan Whittington, WR, Texas

Detroit gets a wide receiver to compete for the slot receiver job this late in the draft. Jordan Whittington is a good fit here.

  26. Green Bay Packers: Logan Lee, DT, Iowa

Green Bay is already stacked with quality starters and backups at 4-3 defensive tackle. Logan Lee is just competing for a roster spot at this point.

  27. New York Jets: Tyrone Tracy, RB, Purdue

Denver traded this pick to the New York Jets in the Zach Wilson trade. New York drafts a running back for depth and the one I like is Purdue running back Tyrone Tracy.

  28. Buffalo Bills: Brennan Jackson, LE, Washington State

Buffalo uses this 2024 sixth round pick from Dallas to draft a pass rusher. Brennan Jackson could end up beating out Casey Toohill for a roster spot making Brennan Jackson an ideal pick for Buffalo.

  29. Detroit Lions: Kedon Slovis, QB, BYU

Kedon Slovis is strictly an insurance play at this point. Detroit hasn't extended Jared Goff yet, but I expect them to. Hendon Hooker is the current backup quarterback and he should be healthy for training camp. Kedon Slovis is just an insurance play in case Hendon Hooker isn't healthy as he's also someone who could replace Teddy Bridgewater who recently retired.

  30. Cleveland Browns: Trey Knox, TE, South Carolina

Cleveland gets another tight end for depth behind David Njoku and Jordan Akins. Trey Knox would be a nice third string tight end for Cleveland here.

  31. Denver Broncos: Malik Mustapha, FS, Wake Forest

Denver needs a free safety. Malik Mustapha is a great value pick and could be a day 1 starter with Denver relasing Justin Simmons.

  32. Las Vegas Raiders: Edefuan Ulofoshio, MLB, Washington

Las Vegas uses this pick from the Kansas City Chiefs to add another middle linebacker for depth. Edefuan Ulofoshio wouldn't be a bad backup to Robert Spillane at middle linebacker.

  33. Los Angeles Rams: Jontrey Hunter, 3-4 MLB, Georgia State

Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 209 thanks to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signing a contract with quarterback Baker Mayfield during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Cleveland didn't get a compensation pick for trading Baker Mayfield to Carolina and when Baker Mayfield requested a release from Carolina, he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams when Matthew Stafford was injured.

Los Angeles needs a second starter at 3-4 middle linebacker. Jontrey Hunter may end up becoming a day 1 starter here.

  34. Philadelphia Eagles: Julian Pearl, LT, Illinois

Philadelphia got this compensation pick at 210 thanks to their middle linebacker T.J. Edwards signing with the Chicago Bears during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. T.J. Edwards moved to 4-3 right outside linebacker upon receiving his payday with the Chicago Bears.

Philadelphia gets a backup left tackle. Julian Pearl is a nice value pick here.

  35. San Francisco 49ers: Anthony Gould, WR, Oregon State

San Francisco got this compensation pick at 211 thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs signing a contract with defensive end Charles Omenihu during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Charles Omenihu signed with the team that ended up keeping his former team from winning Super Bowl 58 and now Charles Omenihu gets a Super Bowl ring to go with the contract he signed in Kansas City.

San Francisco gets another wide receiver to push for a roster spot late in the draft. This is where Oregon State wide receiver Anthony Gould comes into play.

  36. Jacksonville Jaguars: Marist Liuafu, 3-4 MLB, Notre Dame

Jacksonville got this compensation pick at 212 thanks to their backup 3-4 right outside linebacker Arden Key signing with the Tennessee Titans during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Arden Key came in and took the starting 3-4 right outside linebacker job on the Tennessse Titans last year and now Key enters his second season with the Tennessee Titans.

Jacksonville gets one more 3-4 middle linebacker for depth. Marist Liuafu is a steal this late in the draft.

Here's a film cut of Notre Dame LB Marist Liuafu VS Duke. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  37. Los Angeles Rams: Joshua Karty, K, Stanford

Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 213 thanks to the Indianapolis Colts signing a contract with kicker Matt Gay during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Matt Gay joined his third NFL team last offseason after originally getting drafted by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Utah.

Los Angeles finally drafts a day 1 starter at kicker. Joshua Karty is the top kicker in the 2024 NFL Draft.

  38. Cincinnati Bengals: Jase McClellan, RB, Alabama

Cincinnati got this compensation pick at 214 thanks to tight end Hayden Hurst signing with the Carolina Panthers during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Hayden Hurst got overdrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft as he was the Baltimore Ravens very first draft pick that year. Baltimore took Lamar Jackson, Orlando Brown Jr. whose now the Cincinnati Bengals left tackle, and Mark Andrews all after drafting Hayden Hurst in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Cincinnati drafts a running back for depth to compliment Zack Moss and Chase Brown. Alabama running back Jase McClellan is the top running back available at this point in the late sixth round.

  39. San Francisco 49ers: Devin Culp, TE, Washington

San Francisco got this compensation pick at 215 thanks to the Tennessee Titans signing a contract with middle linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Samson Ekubam came into San Francisco and showed he could be a viable starter at 4-3 left end and has continued that success in Indianapolis entering his second season as the starting 4-3 left end on the Indianapolis Colts.

San Francisco gets their backup tight end to George Kittle. Devin Culp is an effective blocker.

Here's a film cut of Washington tight end Devin Culp versus Oregon. You can watch the film cut I posted of Devin Culp below.

  40. Dallas Cowboys: Willie Drew, CB, Virginia State

Dallas got this compensation pick at 216 thanks to their 2018 fourth round pick Dalton Schultz signing with the Houston Texans during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Dalton Schultz got extended after his first season with the Houston Texans.

Dallas is loaded at cornerback, but they may add one more guy. Willie Drew was one of the top small school cornerbacks in the country at Virginia State.

  41. Los Angeles Rams: M.J. Devonshire, CB, Pittsburgh

Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 217 thanks to the New York Giants signing a contract with defensive tackle/3-4 defensive end A'Shawn Robinson during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. A'Shawn Robison signed a three year contract with the Carolina Panthers in this years Free Agency period and is currently projected to start at 3-4 left end in Carolina.

Los Angeles drafts one more cornerback for depth. This is where Pittsburgh cornerback M.J. Devonshire comes into play.

  42. Baltimore Ravens: Bub Means, WR, Pittsburgh

New York got this compensation pick at 218 thanks to their 2018 third round pick Nathan Shepherd signing with the New Orleans Saints during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. New York traded this pick to Baltimore in the trade that sent Morgan Moses back to the New York Jets.

Baltimore drafts one more wide receiver for depth. Pittsburgh wide receiver Bub Means could be a nice depth wide receiver that Baltimore can stash here.

  43. Green Bay Packers: Walter Rouse, LT, Oklahoma

Green Bay got this compensation pick at 219 thanks to 3-4 defensive end Jarran Reed signing with Seattle Seahawks during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Jarran Reed returned to the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Green Bay brings in Walter Rouse to compete for a roster spot. I believe Walter Rouse can beat out Andre Dillard for a roster spot. The big question is whether he can beat out Rasheed Walker for the swing tackle job too.

Here's a posted a film cut of Oklahoma's offensive line VS Texas. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  44. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Frank Gore Jr., RB, Southern Mississippi

Tampa Bay got this compensation pick at 220 thanks to their 2019 second round pick Sean Bunting-Murphy, a former Central Michigan cornerback signing a contract with the Tennessee Titans during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Sean Bunting-Murphy signed a one year contract with the Arizona Cardinals this offseason.

Tampa Bay may draft a running back strictly based on value to end the sixth round. Frank Gore Jr. the 2024 East West Shrine Bowl MVP would be a great addition here.
