Tony Mario's 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Final Mock 7 Rounds

Round 2

Tony Mario follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: April 25, 2024.

  1. Carolina Panthers: Bralen Trice, 3-4 ROLB, Washington

The Carolina Panthers get a replacement to Brian Burns. Bralen Trice is a great pass rusher, but needs to develop as a run stuffer.

Here's a film cut of Washington EDGE Bralen Trice VS Oregon. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  2. New England Patriots: Tyler Guyton, LT, Oklahoma

Tyler Guyton has experience at both left tackle and right tackle despite taking the bulk of his snaps at right tackle. New England has to get a blindside to their quarterback and some have Tyler Guyton in the first round making Guyton a bargain at 34.

Here's a film cut of Oklahoma's offensive line VS Texas. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  3. Arizona Cardinals: Marshawn Kneeland, 3-4 ROLB, Western Michigan

Arizona gets a pass rusher at 3-4 right outside linebacker. Western Michigan's Marshawn Kneeland has gained a lot of traction as of late.

  4. Washington Commanders: Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon

Washington gets a weapon that can play slot receiver next to Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin should beat out Olamide Zaccheaus for the slot receiver job in Washington. Franklin might be able to become a number two wide receiver if Jahan Dotson doesn't finally break out in 2023.

Here's a film cut of Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin VS Washington. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  5. Los Angeles Chargers: Mike Sainristl, CB, Michigan

The Los Angeles Chargers currently have Asante Samuel Jr. whose 5-10 as their field cornerback and Kristian Fulton, the Tennessee Titans number one field cornerback last year is now the Los Angeles Chargers boundary cornerback. Mike Sainristl out of Michigan would be a good choice for a nickel cornerback to bolster the Los Angeles Chargers secondary as Mike Sainristl becomes the first former Los Angeles Chargers cornerback to be re-united with former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

  6. Tennessee Titans: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Tennessee has Calvin Ridley as their flanker wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins is the secondary wide receiver even though he also has experience as a number one wide receiver, and Treylon Burks is the slot receiver. Treylon Burks finished 118th out of 128 wide receivers according to Pro Football Focus, so I won't be surprised if the Tennessee Titans spend another early round pick on a wide receiver in the second round so that the Tennessee Titans have someone to push Treylon Burks for a top three wide receiver spot.

Keon Coleman was once a top 10 prospect. He's a guy with potential to develop into a number one wide receiver. Tennessee can draft him and stash him for next year to develop since Keon Coleman might be able to supplant Treylon Burks as the slot receiver in Tennessee.

  7. Carolina Panthers: Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas

Carolina moved on from Hayden Hurst at tight end as Hayden Hurst is now on the Los Angeles Chargers. Ja'Tavion Sanders would give Carolina a day 1 starter at tight end and another weapon for Bryce Young outside of Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, and Jonathan Mingo last years second round pick at wide receiver.

Here's a film cut of Texas tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders VS Alabama. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  8. Washington Commanders: Jordan Morgan, LT, Arizona

Washington gets their left tackle with Jordan Morgan. Washington's offensive line will have Jordan Morgan at left tackle, Nick Allegretti at left guard, Tyler Biadasz at center, Sam Cosmi at right guard, and Andrew Wylie at right tackle.

  9. Green Bay Packers: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia

Green Bay drafts another cornerback to push Eric Stokes for the boundary cornerback job next to field cornerback Jaire Alexander. Kamari Lassiter is the one guy left in this draft that can keep Carrington Valentine from winning the nickel cornerback job in training camp.

  10. Houston Texans: Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia

Zach Frazier is the one guy left in this draft that may be an upgrade over Juice Scruggs at center. Houston would have Laremy Tunsil at left tackle, Kenyon Green at left guard, Zach Frazier at center, Shaq Mason at right guard and Tytus Howard at right tackle. Juice Scruggs and Jarrett Patterson both got injured multiple times in the season.

  11. Atlanta Falcons: Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

Atlanta drafts a quarterback that can be groomed to succeed behind Kirk Cousins if the value is there. Oregon quarterback Bo Nix would be a great quarterback to develop Kirk Cousins. Atlanta can save $1,210,000 if Bo Nix were to beat out Taylor Heinicke for the backup quarterback gig in Atlanta.

Here's a film cut of Oregon quarterback Bo Nix VS Washington. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  12. Las Vegas Raiders: Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri

Las Vegas needs a cornerback that can play next to Nate Hobbs. Ennis Rakestraw Jr. is my top ranked cornerback on the board.

  13. New Orleans Saints: Chris Braswell, ROLB, Alabama

New Orleans lost Zack Baun. The New Orleans Saints could also use a successor to Demario Davis. Chris Braswell could either line up as a situational edge rusher or be the outside linebacker of New Orlenas in the future.

  14. Indianapolis Colts: Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina

Indianapolis drafts another weapon. With Michael Pittman Jr. as the number one target, Xavier Legette on the outside next to Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs in the slot, and Alec Pierce for depth, the sky will literally be the limit for Anthony Richardson.

Here's a film cut of South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette VS North Carolina. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  15. New York Giants: Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

The New York Giants get their quarterback of the future 47 with the second round pick the Giants got from Seattle in the Leonard Williams trade. Michael Penix Jr. can develop at his own pace. He should be ready to start for the New York Giants by 2025 given that the quarterback class next year in 2025 appears to be pretty awful.

Here's a film cut of Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. VS Oregon. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Tyler Nubin, FS, Minnesota

Jacksonville currenty has Darnell Savage at strong safety replacing Rayshawn Jenkins as Jacksonville is stuck with Savage's contract until 2026. Jacksonville can move on from Andre Cisco at free safety or buyout one of the backup safeties in Andrew Wingard or Daniel Thomas to save cap space. Tyler Nubin is the best zone coverage safety in the 2024 NFL Draft. I believe Jacksonville drafts Tyler Nubin to replace Andre Cisco.

Darnell Savage was 15th on Pro Football Focus and Andre Cisco was 34th out of 95 safeties. Jacksonville has other players from the 2021 NFL Draft that will get priority over Andre Cisco. Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Tyson Campbell, and Walker Little were all drafted ahead of Andre Cisco which is why now may be a good time to reload at safety, so that the Jaguars can focus on renewing as many of those other guys as possible after paying Josh Allen.

  17. Cincinnati Bengals: T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State

Cincinnati gets another cornerback. I like Cam Taylor-Britt. D.J. Turner ranked 109th out of 127 cornerbacks on Pro Football Focus and Mike Hilton, the current nickel cornerback enters a contract year. Iowa State cornerback T.J. Tampa will start by 2025 at the latest and if T.J. Tampa wins a starting cornerback job, Cincinnati can trade Mike Hilton for a draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

  18. Philadelphia Eagles: Max Melton, CB, Rutgers

Philadelphia goes with a nickel cornerback to replace Avonte Maddox and I really like Max Melton in this spot. Philadelphia would have Darius Slay at field cornerback, James Bradberry at boundary cornerback, and Max Melton at nickel cornerback. Max Melton has the talent to move to the outside in a year from now after Philadelphia moves on from James Bradberry.

  19. Pittsburgh Steelers: Cooper Beebe, LG, Kansas State

Pittsburgh drafts a left guard that's a long-term upgrade over Isaac Seumalo. Cooper Beebe is the best left guard in the draft and is a steal at this point in the second round.

Pittsburgh will have Broderick Jones moving over to left tackle and Cooper Beebe at left guard by 2025 at the very latest. Pittsburgh can keep James Daniels at right guard, but Pittsburgh can save $7,875,000 by buying out Isaac Seumalo after the 2024 NFL Season.

  20. Los Angeles Rams: Kingsley Suamatia, LT, BYU

The Los Angeles Rams get a long-term left tackle for Matthew Stafford. Both Alaric Jackson and Joseph Noteboom will be unrestricted Free Agents in 2025. Drafting Kingsley Suamatia here gives you your blindside of the future.

The Los Angeles Rams would have Kingsley Suamatia at left tackle, Jonah Jackson at left guard, Steve Avila at center, Kevin Dotson at right guard, and Rob Havenstein at right tackle. Now that's an offensive line that can pass block for Matthew Stafford and run block for Kyren Williams.

  21. Philadelphia Eagles: Edgerin Cooper, 3-4 MLB, Texas A&M

Philadelphia gets a 3-4 middle linebacker for depth in case Nakobe Dean cannot stay healthy. Edgerin Cooper is the top middle linebacker in the 2024 NFL Draft.

  22. Cleveland Browns: Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia

Cleveland has two wide receivers that are UFAs in 2025 with Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore. After paying Jerry Jeudy a four year extension, Cleveland is stuck with Jerry Jeudy's contract until 2027 when Deshaun Watson and Myles Garrett are UFA's. This tells me Cleveland is moving on from Amari Cooper after this season since he'll turn 30 before 2025 and Nick Chubb also enters a contract year at running back.

Jerry Jeudy and Ladd McConkey will most likely be the top two targets for Cleveland in 2025 with Cedric Tillman Jr. playing slot receiver after learning under Elijah Moore for two years. This year, Ladd McConkey would learn under the veteran trio of Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and slot receiver Elijah Moore while also competing with Cedric Tillman Jr. for the number four wide receiver.

  23. Miami Dolphins: Braden Fiske, 3-4 RE, Florida State

Miami replaces Christian Wilkins with Braden Fiske. Miami now has Braden Fiske at 3-4 right end and Zach Sieler at 3-4 left end as their two pass rushers and run stuffers at 3-4 defensive end.

  24. Dallas Cowboys: Blake Corum, RB, Michigan

Dallas drafts a running back to compete with Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn for the starting running back job. Something tells me Blake Corum could win that job outright and do a lot of damage with the Dallas Cowboys offensive line run blocking for him.

  25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri

Tampa Bay drafts a cornerback to replace Carlton Davis. Kris Abrams-Draine would compliment Jamel Dean and Zyon McCollum in nickel packages. It's possible that Kris Abrams-Draine becomes Tampa Bay's number one field cornerback if the opportunity presents itself. The worst case scenario for Kris Abrams-Draine if he goes to Tampa Bay is that he would be the nickel cornerback.

  26. Green Bay Packers: Trey Benson, RB, Florida State

Josh Jacobs four year contract is a team friendly deal. Green Bay can get out of that contract after one year and save $1,950,000. A.J. Dillon also enters a contract year. That's why Green Bay could draft a running back much earlier than expected by taking Florida State running back Trey Benson.

  27. Houston Texans: Ruke Orhoroho, DT, Clemson

Houston lost both Sheldon Rankins and Maliek Collins and added Foley Fautukasi and Denico Autry as stop gaps at 4-3 defensive tackle. The Houston Texans reloaded at defensive tackle, but I can see Houston drafting another defensive tackle here hoping to find a day 1 starter this early in the second round. Ruke Orhoroho is one guy who could beat out both Foley Fautukasi and Denico Autry for one of the starting defensive tackle spots in Houston.

  28. Buffalo Bills: Leonard Taylor III, DT, Miami FL

Buffalo drafts someone to push DaQuan Jones for the 4-3 defensive tackle job next to Ed Oliver. Buffalo's depth at 4-3 defensive tackle isn't exactly great. Buffalo can draft someone like Leonard Taylor III, develop him for a year, and buyout DaQuan Jones to save $3-million if he struggles in 2025.

  29. Detroit Lions: Javon Bullard, SS, Georgia

Detroit gets a strong safety that might be able to start over Ifeatu Melifonwu in a year from now. Javon Bullard would make a really good starter at strong safety for Detroit in the second round. Detroit also only has one strong safety on their depth chart.

  30. Baltimore Ravens: Payton Wilson, 3-4 MLB, North Carolina State

Baltimore drafts a 3-4 middle linebacker to replace Patrick Queen. Butkus Award Winner Payton Wilson is someone who will be able to compete with Trent Simpson and Malik Harrison for the 3-4 middle linebacker job across from Roquan Smith. Payton Wilson is the one linebacker left in this draft that may be able to beat out both Trent Simpson and Malik Harrison for playing time.

  31. San Francisco 49ers: Michael Hall Jr., DT, Ohio State

San Francisco replaced Arik Armstead with Maliek Collins. Javon Hargrave is still in San Francisco, but it feels like Maliek Collins will only be there for 2024 since there is no dead cap on the two year contract Maliek Collins signed with San Francisco in 2025. Michael Hall Jr. has more long-term upside than Maliek Collins and could start for San Francisco at 4-3 defensive tackle as early as 2025.

Here's a film cut of Ohio State DL Michael Hall Jr. VS Notre Dame. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  32. Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Paul, LT, Houston

Kansas City gets a left tackle to push Wanya Morris for the left tackle job. Houston left tackle Patrick Paul was the only left tackle with a pass blocking grade of above 90 each of the last two years in College Football. The worst case scenario for Paul is he is the backup left tackle to Wanya Morris and the best case scenario is the Kansas City Chiefs get a Pro Bowl blindside for Patrick Mahomes in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft if Patrick Paul manages to take the starting left tackle job from Wanya Morris.
