2015 MLS Mock Draft: Final Mock 2 Rounds

Round 2

Posted By: Chris Ransom Last Updated: January, 15, 2015

  1. Orlando City S.C.: Anthony Manning, D, Saint Louis

Orlando City S.C. will need a center back in round 2. Anthony Manning is a 6-4 200 lb center back that displays excellent footwork. An ideal fit here.

  2. New York City F.C.: Andrew Wolverton, G, Penn State

There are a lot of talented goalies. You cannot blame a team for taking any goalie after Alex Bono.

The 6-6 220 lb Andrew Wolverton seems like the best goalie in this draft. There a lot of good keepers that are projects to an extent. It feels like Wolverton has the most potential.

  3. Portland Timbers: Ramon Martin Del Campo, D, UC Davis

The Timbers may add a center back at some point. The 6-4 200 lb Ramon Martin Del Campo is a steal early in round 2. This is a physical defender with great size and strength. If you can develop his footwork like Anthony Manning, you will get a star.

  4. Orlando City S.C.: Tyler Arnone, M, Michigan

Tyler Arnone is a guy to keep an eye on. Arnone has a chance to be a special player in the MLS. He needs to go to a team where he can develop on the bench and work his way into the lineup.

Tyler Arnone might be a bench player at first in Orlando City S.C. His tireless work ethic will eventually land him a starting gig.

  5. Colorado Rapids: Jordan McCrary, D, North Carolina

The Colorado Rapids will need a center back, left back, and right back after their horrid defense last season. Rapids took a center back in round 1. In round 2, Colorado gets Mccrory out of North Carolina who started at left back for the Tar Heels for four seasons.

  6. Seattle Sounders: Charlie Lyon, G, Marquette

Charlie Lyon has 2 seasons at Marquette with over 100 saves along with a save percentage of .800 or higher. I think that makes Lyon the top goalie here. Weighing in at 6-2 215 lbs also helps. The reason he slid to round 2 was because he had an awful 2014 season at goalkeeper.

  7. Chicago Fire: Nikko Boxall, D, Northwestern

Chicago is thin at center back. Nikko Boxall a local Chicago product that attended Northwestern was a 4 year starter for the Wildcats.

Northwestern's team captain gets to stay in the state of Illinois. His relentless motor, kicking power, and soccer IQ make him an outstanding pick in round 2.

  8. Toronto F.C.: Patrick Doody, D, Indiana

Toronto F.C. needs a defensive midfielder. Patrick Doody fits the bill as he can play mainly defense, but also add the pop and playmaking of a midfielder on the back line. A perfect fit for Toronto here.

  9. Sporting Kansas City: Tyler Miller, G, Northwestern

Sporting Kansas City could use a backup goalie. Tyler Miller may not have a high save percentage. His 36 shutouts in 4 years make him one of the more consistent goalies in the 2015 MLS Superdraft.

  10. Philadelphia Union: Andrew O'Malley, D, Notre Dame

Andrew O'Malley is the center back on Notre Dame. He played a role in guiding Notre Dame to their 2013 Championship win over Maryland when the Fighting Irish won the 2013 College Cup.

  11. Portland Timbers: Bolu Akinyode, M, Seton Hall

Bolu Akinyode is a defensive midfielder with good passing skills. Is capable of being the midfielder that gets the ball at the start of kickoff. Good upgrade that the Timbers could use.

  12. New England Revolution: Rob Lovejoy, F, North Carolina

New England Revolution lost a potential star in Patrick Mullins. They draft his replacement here.

  13. Portland Timbers: Saad-Abdul Salaam, D, Akron

Portland could use a right back. Caleb Porter may draft a Zip from the college he used to coach.

  14. Columbus Crew S.C.: Connor Hallisey, M, California

Connor Hallisey is a steal at this point. He had 9 goals and 12 assists in 2014.

  15. Houston Dynamo: James Rogers, F, New Mexico

Houston Dynamo need a right winger. James Rogers is the best right winger left and some consider him a first round talent.

  16. Toronto F.C.: Jack Coleman, D, Duke

Jack Coleman played right back the past three seasons at Duke. He has the versatility to play left back, center back, or defensive midfield. Right back is Coleman's strong point and Toronto drafts him to play his primary position shoring up their defense.

  17. Vancouver Whitecaps: Adria Beso, M, Connecticut

Adria Beso is a playmaker that gets you double digit assists. This guy has a knack for passing the ball in the right place. You need an assist man get Beso.

  18. New York Red Bulls: Nat Eggleston, D, Duke

The New York Red Bulls need a center back. Nat Eggleston a 6-3 200 lb center back is a good value pick at this point.

  19. Seattle Sounders: Jordan Murrell, D, Syracuse

The Syracuse left back is a sound choice for the Seattle Sounders. Some would argue that Murrell is a steal at this spot.

  20. Philadelphia Union: Luke Mishu, D, Notre Dame

One thing the Union could use is a right back. Luke Mishu played right back on Notre Dame for four years.

  21. D.C. United: Tomas Gomez, G, Georgetown

Tomas Gomez was a 4 year starter at Georgetown. He had a bad 2014 season, but the D.C. United have a good chance of taking a goalie in the first two rounds.
