Tony Mario's 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Final Mock 7 Rounds

Round 7

Tony Mario Last Updated: April 27, 2021.

  1. New Orleans Saints: Tommy Kraemer, RG, Notre Dame

New Orleans cut their right guard Larry Warford. They get a right guard for depth here to start the seventh round.

  2. San Francisco 49ers: Camryn Bynum, CB, California

San Francisco grabs a cornerback here. Camryn Bynum has everything you want in a cornerback except game speed you want from a cornerback. His football iQ and intangibles are through the roof though. He'd push Jason Verrett for the number two cornerback job unless Richard Sherman comes back. If Sherman returns then Camryn Bynum is gonna start out in a depth role before moving inside to a nickel role where he'd take over for Jason Verrett.

Here is a film cut of California cornerback Camryn Bynum VS Washington. There are three film cuts on Camryn Bynum on the Draft Utopia Youtube channel.

  3. Miami Dolphins: Darren Hall, CB, San Diego State

Darren Hall can play cornerback or safety with his versatility. Miami adds him for depth in the seventh round.

  4. Tennessee Titans: Ian Book, QB, Notre Dame

Tennessee drafted Cole McDoland on day 3 in the 2020 NFL Draft hoping he'd be good enough to be Ryan Tannehill's backup. He got cut in training camp so Tennessee gets another backup quarterback in this draft with Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book.

Here is our interview of Ian Book from the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl. You can click the link below to listen to that recorded press conference of Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book.

  5. Houston Texans: Tony Poljan, TE, Virginia

Tony Poljan would be a nice tight end to bring in for depth. Houston can grab him late in the seventh round.

  6. Philadelphia Eagles: Drake Jackson, C, Kentucky

Philadelphia gets a center for depth to groom behind Jason Kelce. Drake Jackson is a fantastic value pick this late in the seventh round and could eventually take over as the teams starting center.

  7. Cincinnati Bengals: Jaret Patterson, RB, Buffalo

Cincinnati gets their replacement to Giovani Bernard here. Jaret Patterson is the only running back in this draft with three consecutive seasons of 1,000 rushing yards.

  8. Buffalo Bills: Trevon Grimes, WR, Florida

Someone will take Trevon Grimes late in the draft. He entered this season as the number one receiver on Florida's depth chart before Kadarius Toney supplanted him as the number one receiver for quarterback Kyle Trask.

  9. Denver Broncos: Robert Jones, RG, Middle Tennessee State

Robert Jones can compete with Netane Muti last years sixth round pick out of Fresno State for the right guard job. Denver could also move Muti back to left guard as the backup left guard to Dalton Risner while Robert Jones is the backup right guard to Graham Glasgow.

  10. Dallas Cowboys: Daelin Hayes, LE, Notre Dame

Dallas adds a 4-3 left end for depth behind Demarcus Lawrence. Daelin Hayes is a nice value pick in the seventh round.

  11. Denver Broncos: Rakeem Boyd, RB, Arkansas

Rakeem Boyd gives Denver a running back for depth. He's a nice value pick in the seventh round.

  12. Philadelphia Eagles: Lorenzo Neal, DT, Purdue

Philadelphia adds a defensive tackle for depth here. Lorenzo Neal is a nice value pick in the seventh round as his father was a former NFL player.

  13. Los Angeles Chargers: Ta'Quon Graham, DT, Texas

The Los Angeles Chargers get a defensive tackle. Depth is needed behind Linval Joseph and Jerry Tillery.

  14. New England Patriots: Reed Blankenship, FS, Middle Tennessee State

Reed Blankenship played free safety at Middle Tennessee State. He was also used on special teams so New England drafts him with their final pick to load up on depth. He can take over as the return specialist on New England whenever New England decides to move on from Matthew Slater.

  15. Arizona Cardinals: Kenny Randall, 3-4 LE, Charleston

Arizona gets Kenny Randall as a 3-4 defensive end for depth behind 3-4 right end Zach Allen and 3-4 left end J.J. Watt. Kenny Randall is a good player to groom to succeed J.J. Watt.

  16. Miami Dolphins: Josh Pederson, TE, Lousiana Monroe

Josh Pederson entered the season as a second to third round prospect. Now he's barely draftable. Miami takes him with this selection as a tight end for depth.

  17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Christian Uphoff, SS, Illinois State

Pittsburgh gets a safety to draft to push Terrell Edmunds harder. Christian Uphoff is versatile enough to play strong safety or free safety. He would be a depth player behind Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds.

Here is a film cut of Illinois State safety Christian Uphoff VS SE Missouri State. Christian Uphoff looked good enough to get drafted.

  18. Washington Football Team: Jack Anderson, RG, Texas Tech

Jack Anderson gives Washington someone who can learn under right guard Brandon Scherff for a year. Scherff enters a contract year at right guard once again after being franchise tagged.

  19. Arizona Cardinals: Shaka Toney, 3-4 LOLB, Penn State

Arizona gets a second 3-4 left outside linebacker for depth. They need a second pass rusher to step up next to Chandler Jones. If Chandler Jones goes down with an injury again, Arizona will not be able to get any pressure on the quarterback. That's going to be extremely problematic without Patrick Peterson.

  20. Indianapolis Colts: Drew Himmelman, LT, Illinois State

I gave Indianapolis Teven Jenkins in the first round. There's an outside possibility Teven Jenkins plays right tackle on Indianapolis if he can't beat out Sam Tevi for the left tackle job. If that happens another left tackle for insurance will be needed. That's where Illinois State three year left tackle Drew Himmelman who blocked for Jaguars running back James Robinson comes into play.

  21. Jacksonville Jaguars: Landon Young, LT, Kentucky

Landon Young will compete with Dan Moore for the backup left tackle job behind Cam Robinson. If Jacksonville can find a way to keep both of the left tackles I gave them on their 53-man roster, Trevor Lawrence should be set. At the same time there is a possibility Landon Young gets demoted to the teams practice squad or gets picked up by another team because this is the seventh round. I gave Jacksonville Dan Moore earlier at 65.

  22. Seattle Seahawks: Isaiahh Loudermilk, DT, Wisconsin

Seattle lost Jarran Reed. They have to get another defensive tackle with this pick.

  23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tommy Doyle, LT, Miami Ohio

Tampa Bay gets a left tackle for depth behind Donovan Smith. Tommy Doyle is the best offensive tackle on the board at this point in the seventh round. He held his own against Buffalo 4-3 right end Malcolm Koonce.

  24. Los Angeles Rams: Peyton Ramsey, QB, Northwestern

Los Angeles gets a quarterback to groom behind Matthew Stafford. Peyton Ramsey out of Northwestern is my top quarterback on the board.

  25. Denver Broncos: Tarron Jackson, 3-4 ROLB, Coastal Carolina

Denver gets a 3-4 outside linebacker for depth. Tarron Jackson was a 4-3 defensive end at Coastal Carolina. He's versatile enough to play 3-4 outside linebacker too on either side making him one of the better value picks at edge rusher in this years draft.

  26. Pittsburgh Steelers: Warren Jackson, WR, Colorado State

Warren Jackson is one of the better receivers in this draft. He can develop for a year before getting more playing time in 2022 when both JuJu Smih-Schuster and James Washington are Free Agents.

  27. New Orleans Saints: Jacob Harris, TE, Central Florida

New Orleans drafts a tight end for depth. Jacob Harris would be a good tight end to backup former Dayton tight end Adam Trautman who enters his second season in the NFL. New Orleans goes from Jared Cook and Josh Hill in their two tight end set to having Adam Trautman and Jacob Harris in that set.

  28. Green Bay Packers: Lorenzo Burns, CB, Arizona

Green Bay grabs a cornerback for depth late in the seventh round. Lorenzo Burns out of Arizona could be a nice nickel cornerback if he develops for a year or two.

  29. Cleveland Browns: Tyler Vaughns, WR, USC

Cleveland uses their final draft pick on a second wide receiver. Tyler Vaughns is a fantastic value pick at this point in the seventh round.

  30. Washington Football Team: JR Pace, SS, Northwestern

Washington gets a safety here. JR Pace is one of the better safeties in College Football that not many people are talking about.

  31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Grant Stuard, 3-4 LOLB, Houston

Tampa Bay drafts a second 3-4 outside linebacker for depth. My Mr. Irrelevant is Grant Stuard out of Houston who has great film. His athleticism may not be what you want it to be, but he's too talented to go undrafted.
