Real Salt Lake 2016 Season Preview

Posted By: Chris Ransom on 2/5/2016

Real Salt Lake regressed as I expected them too. Forward Jaoa Plata and midfielder Javier Morales are back. Goaltender Nick Rimando is back as well.

Real Salt Lake has 3 veterans at key positions. The team added Omar Holness as an attacking midfielder that can play the wing, defensive midfielder Danielo Acosta is a homegrown player that signed with Real Salt Lake. Former Real Salt Lake defender Chris Wingert is back on a one-year prove it deal.

Maybe Real Salt Lake can improve with these additions. It still won't be enough at the end of the day as Real Salt Lake struggles again in 2016.

Prediction: Real Salt Lake will struggle once again in 2016. This team needs to get younger at multiple positions and is one more draft away from being a relevant team in the MLS. We saw the decline of Real Salt Lake in 2015. I think we will see this team miss the playoffs once again in 2016.
