F.C. Dallas 2016 Season Preview

Posted By: Chris Ransom on 2/22/2016

F.C. Dallas lost Blas Perez in the trade with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Fabian Castillo also moved from forward to midfielder in 2015 despite leading the team with 8 goals. F.C. Dallas severely lacks a goal scoring striker that can get 10 goals a year. Carlos Lizarzo is on a loan, but I think he disappoints.

F.C. Dallas does have a very strong midfield now. Castillo moved to midfielder in 2015 and Mauro Diaz had 8 goals and 10 assists.

F.C. Dallas added Maximilliano Urruti in the 2016 Re-Entry Draft and Mauro Rosales in the trade that sent Blas Perez to Vancouver to the wing with Urruti and Rosales on the wing.
Walker Zimmerman, 2013 first round draft pick at defensive midfield moved to center back in 2015. Zimmerman and 2012 first round pick Matt Hedges form a deadly tandem at center back when healthy.

F.C. Dallas did not have a goalie that had 100 saves in 2014. Jesse Gonzalez led F.C. Dallas with 37 saves in 2015 and emerged at the end of the year.

Prediction: F.C. Dallas made me look foolish when I said they would regress significantly. The Portland Timbers outplayed them for good reason and this feels like a one and done team in 2016. F.C. Dallas lacks the striker to deliver in 2016.
