Kei Kamara had 22 goals and 8 assists in 2015. Kamara is the top striker in the MLS right now. Secondary striker Fedrico Higuain had 8 goals and 9 assists in 2015.
Midfielder Ethan Finlay had 12 goals and 13 assists last season in 2015. Finlay is the playmaker that passes the ball to Kamara and Higuain. Tony Tchani is another quality midfielder on the wing.
Columbus has Waylon Francis and Tyson Wahl at left back. At center back you got Amro Tarek and Michael Parkhurst. The Crew brought in Corey Ashe at right back and Harrison Afful is a good right back for depth.
Steve Clark had 114 saves at goalie in 2015. Clark is one of the best goalies in the MLS.
Prediction: Last year I said this team was capable of winning the Eastern Conference if the offense stepped up. That's exactly what happened. They got two easy matchups against Montreal and the New York Red Bulls with an injured center back. Columbus has to be the favorite to win the Eastern Conference. THe New York Red Bulls would be the next most likely team. I'd say the third best team after those two would be the New England Revolution then the D.C. United, D.C. lost some playmakers and New England made a ton of defensive upgrades which is why they get an edge. I'll go with the Montreal Impact at #5. My #6 seed will be the Philadelphia Union in a huge surprise. I'm going with Columbus over the New York Red Bulls since the Red Bulls have lost to Columbus twice in the MLS Playoffs plus they have lost the Eastern Conference two years in a row.
