Jason Bantle's 2015 NFL Mock Draft

Round 3

Posted By Jason Bantle Last Updated: April 30, 2015.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Owamgbe Odighizuwa, DE, UCLA

Tampa Bay gets a defensive end. Owamgbe Obdighizuwa sits out his rookie year and adjusts to a 4-3 defensive end role. He could be the Buccaneers new starting right end in 2016.

  2. Tennessee Titans: T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh

The Titans have to get a right tackle to aid Marcus Mariota up front. After giving the Titans Shane Ray in the second, the Titans add T.J. Clemmings.

  3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State

The Jaguars should bring someone in that can play special teams. Lockett can start out at special teams this season and compete for the slot receiver job.

  4. Oakland Raiders: Cedric Ogbuhei, OT, Texas A&M

Oakland gets an offensive tackle for depth. Cedric Ogbuhei could be a good starter in 2016 once he recovers from his injury. For now he's a backup to an overpaid Donald Penn while he recovers from a season ending injury.

  5. Washington Redskins: Mario Edwards, DE, Florida State

Mario Edwards can be used as a 4-3 or 3-4 defensive lineman. Washington will get a 3-4 defensive end at some point.

  6. New York Jets: Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA

Brett Hundley is the top quarterback left. The Jets need an upgrade over Geno Smith and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Handley is an upgrade over both, and you might be able to get him in the third round.

  7. Chicago Bears: Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida State

Eddie Goldman can play 4-3 defensive tackle or 3-4 nose tackle. Goldman is another steal at his point when you consider that he could go in the third round.

  8. St. Louis Rams: Eli Harold, OLB, Virginia

Eli Harold has the versatility to play defensive end or outside linebacker on either side. Eli Harold would come in on third down behind Benardrick McKinney. Over time he could move to start at defensive end if Robert Quinn or Chris Long left the Rams.

  9. Atlanta Falcons: Preston Smith, DE, Mississippi State

Preston Smith has the size of a 4-3 defensive end. Atlanta finally grabs a LEO at right end afte taking Todd Gurley eighth overall.

  10. New York Giants: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa

The Giants need more depth at defensive tackle. Carl Davis out of Iowa reminds me of some of the Giants former defensive tackles. I like the idea of adding him for depth behind Jonathan Hankins and grooming him into a starter over time.

  11. New Orleans Saints: T.J. Yeldon, RB, Alabama

T.J. Yeldon will begin as a third stringer. Over time he becomes the guy that splits carries with Mark Ingram as he ages.

  12. Minnesota Vikings: Ray Drew, DE, Georgia

Minnesota goes with Ray Drew. He was a 3-4 defensive end at Georgia. At 6-4 272 lbs

  13. Cleveland Browns: Paul Dawson, ILB, TCU

Cleveland never replaced D'Qwell Jackson. Paul Dawson reminds me of Jackson and pairing him up with the linebacker the Browns got out Iowa last year would give the Browns a deadly run defense after adding Danny Shelton at 12.

  14. New Orleans Saints: Steven Nelson, CB, Oregon State

Keenan Lewis went to Oregon State before the Steelers drafted him. The problem is the Saints overpaid Lewis. Nelson can start out in the nickel and eventually replace Lewis if Keenan continues to struggle.

  15. San Francisco 49ers: Kwon Alexander, OLB, LSU

San Francisco needs another pass rusher next to Aldon Smith. Kwon Alexander is the best player available.

  16. Kansas City Chiefs: Ben Keeney, ILB, Kansas

Kansas City needs a 3-4 middle linebacker. Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Ben Keeney joins the Chiefs.

  17. Buffalo Bills: Hau'oli Kikaha, OLB, Washington

Buffalo adds a natural 3-4 pass rusher in Kikaha. There is no guarantee that Jerry Hughes adjusts to the 3-4. Ironic that he dominated in a 4-3 at TCU and on the Bills, but funny that he struggled in a 3-4 defense for the Indianapolis Colts early in his career.

  18. Houston Texans: Doran Grant, CB, Ohio State

Houston has decent starters on the secondary. Doran Grant would make a good nickel corner that could come in on 3 cornerback plays while also serving as a backup safety and playing special teas.

  19. San Diego Chargers: Laken Tomlinson, G, Duke

San Diego needs another starter. That's where Laken Tomlinson comes into play.

  20. Philadelphia Eagles: Daryl Williams, OT, Oklahoma

Daryl Washington was once Lane Johnson's backup at Oklahoma before the Eagles drafted Johnson fourth overall back in 2013. Johnson had a good rookie season, but he regressed significantly in 2014.

  21. Cincinnati Bengals: Frank Clark, DE, Michigan

The Bengals need a defensive end. Frank Clark is the top defensive end left.

  22. Arizona Cardinals: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu would be a good nickel cornerback. The Cardinals use this pick to add a second cornerback.

  23. Pittsburgh Steelers: Taiwan Jones, ILB, Michigan State

Taiwan Jones can play anywhere in a 4-3 defense. He's mainly a run stuffer that would only be able to play inside linebacker in the Steelers' 3-4. Despite this, Pittsburgh drafts a second inside linebacker.

  24. Detroit Lions: Xavier Cooper, DT, Washington State

Xavier Cooper can play 4-3 defensive tackle or 3-4 right end. With uncertainty about him playing the 4-3 or the 3-4, Cooper is a good pick for a Lions team hoping to boost the offensive line.

  25. Carolina Panthers: Tavaris Barnes, DE, Clemson

Carolina needs a defensive end to replace Greg Hardy. Hopefully Tavaris Barnes is the answer.

  26. Baltimore Ravens: Danielle Hunter, OLB, LSU

Danielle Hunter is a 4-3 right end with the size of a pass rushing outside linebacker. Hunter would be a good developmental pass rusher behind Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil because he already has his run stuffing and ability to drop back into zone coverage to defend the pass is already at a high level..

  27. Dallas Cowboys: Kevin White, CB, TCU

Kevin White is alright in coverage. If he could stop missing tackles this would be a starting corner instead of a nickel for depth.

  28. Denver Broncos: Tyler Sambraillo, OT, Colorado State

Denver will go with a right tackle early. Tyler Sambraillo is a guy the Broncos showed a lot of interest in when they were at Colorado State's Pro Day. Sambraillo becomes the second Ram to join the Buccaneers.

  29. Indianapolis Colts: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State

Indiapolis finally gets a cornerback in Round 3. P.J. Williams got busted for a DUI after being graded out as a first round prospect. Thank god I didn't make any jokes about P.J. Williams and Jim Irsay walking into a bar.

  30. Green Bay Packers: Clive Walford, TE, Miami FL

Green Bay needs a tight end. Clive Walford provides awesome value at the end of the third round plus the Packers are fans of Walford believing he's the top tight end after Maxx Williams.

  31. Seattle Seahawks: Jamison Crowder, WR, Duke

Seattle needs a #1 receiver. The Seahawks draft Jamison Crowder knowing they have an immediate option in the slot with some special teams play. Seattle's receiver

  32. New England Patriots: Reese Dismukes, C, Auburn

New England gets a center for depth behind Bryan Stork. Reese Dismukes goes to the Patriots here.

  33. New England Patriots: Trey Flowers, DE, Arkansas

Trey Flowers has the versatility to play right end or left end. He's a perfect candidate to replace Jake Bequette who has not met expectations with the Patriots.

  34. Kansas City Chiefs: Gerod Holliman, S, Louisville

Gerod Holliman led the nation with 14 interceptions in 2014. He's a good short term plan for the Chiefs until Eric Berry recovers from his injury and returns to the NFL. If Holliman is that consistent with getting picks in the Pros then he can replace Eric Berry for good.

  35. Cincinnati Bengals: Jeff Heurmann, TE, Ohio State

With Jermaine Gresham gone the Bengals need a #2 tight end. Jeff Heurmann fits that role perfectly and would do a great job complimenting Tyler Eifert.
