Florida Panthers: Roman Bausov, D, UHC Dynamo Moscow (KHL)
- Florida drafts a defender for depth with San Jose's fifth round pick. Roman Bausov is the number one defenseman on UHC Dynamo Moscow's MHL team.
- The 6-5 190 lb Roman Bausov had 2 goals, 9 assists, 11 points, and a +10 +/- ratio in 41 games with MHK Dynamo St. Petersburg the MHL team affiliated with UHC Dynamo Moscow in 2024-2025. Roman Bausov also had 0 goals, 1 assist, and 1 point in the 2025 MHL Playoffs.

He's the sixty seventh player with experience to be a first line player as well as potential to be a first line player in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Roman Bausov's KHL contract runs through 2027, so the NHL team that drafts him cannot sign him until then.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Kirill Yemelyanov, C, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (KHL)
- The Pittsburgh Penguins draft a center for the future with the Chicago Blackhawks fifth round pick. I found a Russian center in round five with a very similar skill set to Evgeni Malkin. He may not have Malkin's upside, but his toolbox with skills on tape from a traits standpoint is similar to Malkin.
- The 6-0 170 lb Kirill Yemelyanov had 13 goals, 10 assists, 23 points, 16 penalty minutes, and a +12 +/- ratio in 35 MHL games with Loko 76 Yaroslavl the MHL affiliate of KHL team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in 2024-2025. Kirill Yemelyanov had 4 goals, 4 assists, and 8 points in the 2025 MHL Playoffs.

Nashville Predators: Melvin Novotny, C, Leksands IF (Elitserien)
- The Nashville Predators draft a center for depth. I know I have loaded up with centers for Nashville, but this center has the versatility to play left winger, center, and right winger.
- The 6-1 187 lb Melvin Novotny had 12 goals, 26 assists, 38 points, and a +10 +/- ratio in 41 games on the Leksands IF Under 20 Team in 2024-2025. He is under contact with Leksands IF until 2026-2027.
- Melvin Novotny has the skating, versatility, playmaking, passing, sniping, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, slap shot accuracy, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. Melvin Novotny impressed me with his ability on the power play.
Philadelphia Flyers: Anthony Allain-Samake, D, Sioux City Musketeers (USHL)
- Philadelphia drafts a defenseman that they can stash and develop without signing. This will be a defenseman going the NCAA route.
- The 6-0 165 lb Anthony Allain-Samake had 0 goals, 14 assists, and 14 points in 61 USHL games with the Sioux Falls Stampede in 2024-2025. Anthony Allain-Samake had 0 goals, 1 assist, and 1 point in 5 games during the 2025 USHL Playoffs.
- Anthony Allain-Samake has the skating, playmaking, and passing down. The rest of his game needs work.
- Anthony Allain-Samake is the sixty ninth player with experience on a first line in the 2025 NHL Draft. Anthony Allain-Samkae will enroll at Connecticut this Fall.
Boston Bruins: Topias Hynninen, C Mikkelin Jukurit (SM Liiga)
- The 5-11 176 lb Topias Hynninen has the versatility to play left winger, center, or right winger. He can play all three foward roles and is described as an energy forward, two-way forward with the versatility to play multiple forward roles, and a speedster. Topias Hynninen had 12 goals, 23 assists, and 35 points in 51 games with Mikkelin Jukurit in Liiga in 2024-2025. He also had 2 goals, 8 assists, and 10 points in the 2025 Liiga Playoffs.
- Topias Hynninen has the speed, explosion, burst, agility, skating, foot speed, versatility, playmaking, passing, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. Topias Hynninen is an overager at the age of 19, but he can go to the AHL team of the NHL team that drafts him as early as 2026.
Seattle Kraken: David Lewandowski, C, Saskatoon Blades (WHL)
- Seattle drafts a center. David Lewandowski is a center from Germany that played for the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL this past season that was drafted by the Saskatoon Blades in the second round of the 2024 CHL Import Draft.

David Lewandowski began in DEL before making the switch to the WHL.
Buffalo Sabres: Tomas Galvas, D, HC Bili Tygri Liberec (Extraliga)
- Buffalo drafts a defenseman in the fifth round. Buffalo could use some third line defensemen down the road and you can never have too many players in your prospect pool when attempting a rebuild.
- The 5-10 154 lb Tomas Galvas had 3 goals, 8 assists, 11 points, 2 penalty minutes, and a +10 +/- ratio in 43 games in Extraliga in 2024-2025. Tomas Galvas had 0 goals, 0 assists, and 0 points in 4 games during the 2025 Extraliga Playoffs.
- Tomas Galvas has speed, explosion, agility, skating, playmaking, passing, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ you want despite the lack of size. Tomas Galvas is the seventieth player in the 2025 NHL Draft with experience playing on a first line. Tomas Galvas has a contract that runs with HC Bili Tygri Liberec in Extraliga, the professional league in the Czech Republic until 2026-2027. If an NHL team drafts Tomas Galvas that NHL organization cannot get Tomas Galvas on an entry level contract until 2027.
Anaheim Ducks: Danill Ustinkov, D, ZSC Lions (National League A)
- Anaheim goes for value. One player in Switzerland flying under the radar in the 2025 NHL Draft is Danill Ustinkov who went undrafted in the 2024 NHL Draft.
- The 6-1 201 lb Danill Ustinkov had 0 goals, 1 assist, and 1 point on the ZSC Lions in National League A in 2024-2025. He had 0 goals, 1 assist, and 1 point in 13 games in the 2025 National League A Playoffs.
- Danill Ustinkov has the skating, foot speed, playmaking, passing, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ you covet. Daniil Ustinkov needs to develop his slap shot accuracy and improve his +/- ratio, but the rest of his game is pretty refined for the most part. Danill Ustinkov is the seventy first player with experience on a first line in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Toronto Maple Leafs: Matias Vanhanen, LW, Helsingfors IFK (SM Liiga)
- Toronto gets a left winger for the future. Matias Vanhanen was my best player available for Toronto at this point in the fifth round.
- The 5-10 170 lb Matias Vanhanen had 0 goals, 0 assists, and 0 points on Helsingfors IFK in Liiga in 2024-2025. Matias Vanhanen has excellent skating, defensive awareness, and defends well. His offensive game is a huge project and needs a lot of refinement.
New York Islanders: Savin Virk, RW, Tri-City Americans (WHL)
- The New York Islanders get a right winger to stash and develop. One player I heard that the New York Islanders love on day 2 of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft is Savin Virk who is mainly a right winger, but has the versatility to play both wing spots at right winger and left winger.
- The 6-0 172 lb Savin Virk had 22 goals, 24 assists, and 46 points in 50 games with the Tri-City Americans in 2024-2025. Savin Virk had 1 goal, 2 assists, and 3 points in the 2025 WHL Playoffs.
- Savin Virk has the skating, foot speed, versatility, playmaking, passing, sniping, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, slap shot accuracy, vision, offensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. Savin Virk needs to improve his defensive awareness.
New York Rangers: Louis Antoine-Denault, G, Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)
- New York goes with the best player available here. Louis Antoine-Denault is the best goalie on the board. Bringing in competition for 2020 fourth round pick Dylan Garand to be the backup goalie to Igor Shesterkin who just got an eight year contract for $12.5 million a year feels necessary since Garand did not get his save percentage above .900 in the AHL until this past season in the final year of his rookie deal.
- The 6-8 205 lb Louis Antoine-Denault had a 3.13 goals agaisnt average, a .092 save percentage, 2 shutouts, and a 17-17-5 record in 39 starts with the Quebec Remparts while playing in 41 games in 2024-2025. He played in 4 games in the 2025 QMJHL Playoffs posting a 3.79 goals against average and a .903 save percentage where Quebec got swept out of the playoffs.
- Louis Antoine-Denault checked off 8/10 boxes for a goalie. He needs to improve his post integeration and rebound control.
Detroit Red Wings: Lev Katzin, RW, Guelph Storm (OHL)
- Detroit drafts a college player that they can stash and develop. Lev Katzin has the versatility to play all three forward roles at left winger, center, and right winger.
- The 5-8 176 lb Lev Katzin had 16 goals, 32 assists, and 48 points in 44 OHL games with the Guelph Storm in 2024-2025. He was also an alternate captain on the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL before joining the Guelph Storm. Lev Katzin is heading to Penn State this fall.
- Lev Katzin has the skating, explosion, burst, agility, foot speed, versatility, playmaking, passing, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, slap shot accuracy, offensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. Lev Katzin has a lot of traits you covet even though there's not a lot of tape on him. He still needs to refine those traits and will get the opportunity to do that at Penn State.
Minnesota Wild: Semyon Frolov, G, Spartak Moscow (KHL)
- Minnesota drafts a goalie to add to their prospect pool. This is strictly an insurance play in case Jesper Wallstedt, Minnesota's 2021 first round pick does not pan out as he's dominated with the Iowa Wild in the AHL, but has struggled in the NHL. With Marc-Andre Fleury retiring, Jesper Wallstedt is going to replace Flower on the NHL roster next season.
- The 6-3 203 lb Semyon Frolov had a 2.05 goals against average, a .915 save percentage, 2 shutouts, and 9-2-2 record in 13 starts with MHK Spartak Moscow the MHL affliate of Spartak Moscow in 2024-2025. Semyon Frolov had a 2.88 goals against average and a .903 save percentage in 4 games in the 2025 MHL Playoffs and played well despite his team getting swept in the first round.
- Semyon Frolov checks off 7/10 boxes at goalie. His three areas of improvement are post integration, reading the puck by tracking, and post save recovery. He's under contract with Spartak Moscow until 2027, so he can try to fix those weaknesses in Russia the next two seasons and if he does, then he might get signed to an entry level contract by the NHL team that drafts him. Semyon Frolov might go earlier than where I'm mocking him if a team believes they can fix his weaknesses due to his size and consistent production in the MHL.
Utah Mammoth: Oscar Davidsson, C, HV71 (Elitserien)
- Utah drafts a forward to stash and develop. Oscar Davidsson has the versatility to play all three forward roles at left winger, center, and right winger.
- The 6-1 187 lb Oscar Davidsson had 15 goals, 28 assists, 43 points, and a +6 +/- ratio on the HV71 Under 20 Team in 2024-2025. He was so dominant that he earned a promotion to the HV71 main roster in the SHL once known as Elitserien in Sweden's professional league where he played 16 games despite failing to record a goal or assist with 0 goals, 0 assists, and 0 points in 16 SHl games in 2024-2025.
- Oscar Davidsson has the skating, foot speed, versatility, vision, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. He did well on HV71's penalty killing unit. He does need a lot of work on offense despite being sound on defense and winning face offs consistently. The good news for the NHL team that drafts Oscar Davidsson is his contract in Sweden runs through the 2027-2028 season meaning he can develop in Sweden and can sign his entry level deal with the NHL team that drafts him when he turns 22.
Vancouver Canucks: Ilyas Magomedsultanov, D, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (KHL)
- Vancouver drafts a defenseman in the fifth round. Ilyas Magomedsultanov is a defenseman that has the floor of a number four defenseman on a second line in the AHL and the ceiling of a number four defenseman in the NHL. He's more than likely going to be a top line AHL defenseman, but could develop into a bottom pairing defenseman on an NHL teams third line.
- The 6-2 176 lb Ilyas Magmedsultanov had 0 goals, 2 assists, and 2 points in 2024-2025. Ilyas Magmedsultanov has the skating, passing, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ. The rest of his game needs a lot of work.

- Calgary gets a left winger that they can stash and develop on the NCAA path. Cooper Simpson is one of the best left wingers available in the fifth round.

- Cooper Simpson has the skating, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, and slap shot accuracy. Cooper Simpson is one of the better snipers in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Montreal Canadiens: Bruno Idzan, LW, Lincoln Stars (USHL)
- Montreal drafts another player for value. Bruno Idzan has a cool backstory he was born in Croatia, played hockey in Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Russia, and then came to North America to pay the USHL and will enroll in Wisconsin in 2026, so Montreal can gamble on him in the fifth round. Nobody born in Croatia ever got drafted into the NHL, but Bruno Idzan has a very good chance to buck that trend becoming the first Croatian drafted into the NHL.
- The 6-1 194 lb Bruno Idzan had 22 goals, 22 assists, 44 points, 20 penatly minutes, a +27 +/- ratio in 2024-2025. Bruno Idzan had 3 goals, 0 assists, and 3 points in 6 games in the 2025 USHL Playoffs.
- Bruno Idzan has the skating, foot speed, passing, playmaking, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, slap shot accuracy, vision, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. He's got the floor of a fourth line left winger and the ceiling of a second line left winger. Bruno Idzan will get the opportunity to refine his game even more at Wisconsin.
Dallas Stars: Julius Saari, D, Jokerit (KHL)
- Dallas got the New Jersey Devils 2025 fifth round pick in the Colin Miller trade that sent Colin Miller to New Jersey. One of the captains at this years World Junior Championship fell to the Dallas Stars in the fifth round.

St. Louis Blues: Liam Killfoil, C, Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)
- St. Louis goes for value here. One player I found game film on that impressed me in the fifth round is Halifax Mooseheads forward Liam Killfoil, whose got the versatitlity to play all three forward roles at left winger, center, and right winger. One of my friends that loves the St. Louis Blues gave me the thumbs up when suggesting that I mock Liam Kilfoil to the St. Louis Blues here. He was also a member of Team Canada's Hlinka Gretzky Cup Gold Medal Winning Team. Also was an alternate captain on the Halifax Mooseheads.
- The 5-11 176 lb Liam Killfoil had 21 goals, 25 assists, and 46 points in 62 games with the Halifax Mooseheads in 2024-2025. Liam Killfoil had 3 goals, 2 assists, and 5 points in 11 games during the 2025 QMJHL Playoffs.
- Liam Killfoil has the skating, versatility, passing, playmaking, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, vision, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. Liam Killfoil is a steal in the fifth round and was a first line center on the Halifax Mooseheads penalty killing unit despite playing a second line center role.
- I listened to his interview on the Steel Flyers podcast and I'm wondering why Future Considerations and NHL Central Scouting are the only two scouting services that have mentioned this guy when doing more research about him on Elite Prospects after watching his tape. Killfoil honeslty has a chance to be one of the steals during day 2 of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Liam Killfoil brings a 200 foot game at center. Liam Killfoil models his game after Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby and New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Charlie Cerrato, C, Penn State
- Pittsburgh goes for value over need with this fifth round pick from Minnesota. Penn State forward Charlie Cerrato has the versatility to play all three forward roles at left winger, center, and right winger.
- The 6-0 190 lb Charlie Cerrato had 15 goals, 27 assists, 42 points, and a +16 +/- ratio as a true freshman at Penn State in 2024-2025. Charlie Cerrato was Penn State's second line center during his freshman season.
- Charlie Cerrato has the skating, versatility, playmaking, passing, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. I'd like to see Charlie Cerrato refine his shot.
Ottawa Senators: Aron Dahlqvist, D, Brynas IF (Elitserien)
- Ottawa gets a big body defenseman here. Aron Dahlqvist makes a lot of sense here in the fifth round.
- The 6-4 205 lb Aron Dahlqvist had 2 goals, 10 assists, and 12 points in 39 games with the Brynas IF Under 20 Team in 2024-2025. Aron Dahlqvist had 0 goals, 0 assists, and 0 points on the Brynas IF SHL team in 2024-2025.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Atte Joki, C, Rauman Lukko (SM Liiga)
- Tampa Bay drafts a center that they can bring up to the AHL right away. Atte Joki is a great value pick in the fifth round.
- The 6-2 190 lb Atte Joki had 15 goals, 17 assists, 32 points, 8 penalty minutes, and a +10 +/- ratio with the Rauman Lukko Under 20 Team in 2024-2025. Atte Joki had 3 goals, 2 assists, and 5 points in 11 playoff games with Rauman Lukko in 2024-2025.
- Atte Joki has the skating, foot speed, versatility, passing, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, slap shot accuracy, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ to succeed in the NHL. I couldn't find any film of Atte Joki on Rauman Lukko's Under 20 Team, but I found highlights of Atte Jokie from his time with the Tappara Under 16 Team and Tappara Under 18 Team back in 2022-2023.
Los Angeles Kings: William Belle, RW, USTNDP (USHL)
- The Los Angeles Kings draft a right winger to stash and develop in their prospect pool. William Belle was a player from the 2025 NHL Combine that's still on the board in the fifth round.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Owen Martin, C, Spokane Chiefs (WHL)
- Toronto goes for value in the fifth round. Owen Martin was once mocked to the Dallas Stars in the third round on Tankathon back in January, so this is incredible value for Owen Martin in the fifth round.

- Owen Martin has the skating, foot speed, versatility, passing, and playmaking. He was the Spokane Chiefs line 2 center behind Berkly Catton, who was the Seattle Kraken's 2024 first round pick. Owen Martin will probably play on the first line with the Spokane Chiefs next season with Berkly Catton the eighth pick in the 2024 NHL Draft potentially making the jump to the NHL.
Vegas Golden Knights: Tommy Lafreniere, C, Kamloops Blazers (WHL)
- The Vegas Golden Knights need to get younger players and start adding to their prospect pool. One center Vegas can draft and develop in the fifth round is Tommy Lafreniere.

- Roberto Henriquez needs to improve his Post Integration, Reading The Puck By Tracking, Post Save Recovery, and Puckhandling. He checks off the other six boxes you want in an NHL goalie. Roberto Henriquez will get more time to fix those weaknesses in the NCAA.
Winnipeg Jets: Trenten Bennett, G, Owen Sound Attack (OHL)
- Winnipeg goes with a goalie to stash and develop with Connor Hellebuyck now 32 years old with 6 years left on his contract. Trenten Bennett only checks off 6/10 boxes, but even if he doesn't become the starting goalie of the future when Connor Hellebuyck retires, he could still develop into a solid backup goalie.

Other 2025 NHL Mock Drafts
