2017 NHL Mock Draft Final Mock: 7 Rounds

Round 7

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: June 23, 2017.

  1. Colorado Avalanche: Nikita Anokhovsky, C, Lokomotiv Yaroslavi (KHL)

Colorado gets a center for depth in the seventh round. Nikita Anokhovsky entered the year as my #2 KHL prospect.

  2. Vancouver Canucks: Lassi Lehtinen, G, Rauman Lukko (SM Liiga)

The Canucks draft a goalie here. Lassi Lehtinen was my fifth best Elitserien prospect from the SHL back in the preseason so he's a tremendous value pick in the seventh round. His lack of size at 5-11 161 lbs is why he will go late now.

  3. Vegas Golden Knights: Rafael Prassl, RW, ZSC Lions (National League A)

The Vegas Golden Knights get Rafael Prassl here who could go as early as the third round. Schnarr is a steal in the sixth round.

  4. Arizona Coyotes: Pavel Voronkov, RW, Avotmobilist Yekaterinburg (KHL)

Arizona grabs a right winger here. Pavel Voronkov entered the year as my third best KHL prospect and is an awesome value pick in the seventh round.

  5. New Jersey Devils: Garrett Pruden, D, Kolner Hale (DEL)

Garrett Pruden is the best player available and he entered the year as my second best German prospect in the DEL league. The Devils get a defenseman for depth by taking him in the seventh round.

  6. Buffalo Sabres: Robin Palka, C, Kolner Hale (DEL)

Buffalo takes the best player available. Robin Palka has the versatility to play left wing, center, or right wing in the NHL. Despite his size at 5-9 147 lbs, Palka scored consistently in Germany and was the third best DEL prospect back in the preseason.

  7. Detroit Red Wings: Patrik Hrhorcak, LW, HC Ocelan Trinec (Extraliga)

Detroit drafts a left winger for depth. Patrick Hrhorcak was my fourth best Extraliga prospect back in the preseason.

  8. Dallas Stars: Carl Zimmermann, C, EC Red Bull Salzburg (DEL)

Dallas drafts the best player available. At this point that is Carl Zimmerman the captain of EC Red Bull Salzburg.

  9. Boston Bruins: Anton Krastokin, G, Lokomotiv Yaroslavi (KHL)

The Bruins get a goalie to develop. Anton Krastokin was my fourth best KHL prospect in the preseason and is a bargain here.

  10. Los Angeles Kings: Elijah Roberts, D, Kitchener Rangers (OHL)

The Kings get a defenseman for depth. Elijah Roberts the top player on the board at this point.

  11. Carolina Hurricanes: Vladislav Sukhachyov, G, Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL)

Carolina gets a developmental prospect. Vladislav Sukhachyov entered the year as the fifth best KHL prospect.

  12. Winnipeg Jets: Dani Bindels, LW, Kolner Hale (DEL)

Winnipeg takes Dani Bindels here. Dani Bindels is the final top 5 preseason prospect from the DEL league in Germany.

  13. Philadelphia Flyers: Lauri Pajuniemi, RW, TPS (SM Liiga)

Lauri Pajuniemi is a good defender for Philadelphia to develop at this point. This is a good pick in the middle of the seventh round.

  14. Tampa Bay Lightning: Reagan O'Grady, D, Sudbury Wolves (OHL)

Tampa Bay takes the top defender on the board. At this point in the seventh round that player is Reagan O'Grady.

  15. New York Islanders: Oliver Castleman, LW, Niagara IceDogs (OHL)

The Islanders draft Oliver Castleman here. Castelman is an effective left winger on tape here.

  16. Calgary Flames: Joey Keane, D, Barrie Colts (OHL)

Calgary gets a defenseman for depth. Joey Keane is 6-1 190 lbs. He's a great quarterback on the power play, but struggles on defense which is why he fell to this pick.

  17. Toronto Maple Leafs: Kale Landry, D, Barrie Colts (OHL)

Toronto gets a defenseman for depth. Kale landry is 5-11 181 lbs. He's a great quarterback on the power play producing even more points than Keane, but struggles on defense which is why he fell to this pick.

  18. Boston Bruins: Adam Goodsir, C, Tri-City Storm (USHL)

Boston is taking a center here. Adam Goodsir is a late-round pick that really impressed me on tape.

  19. San Jose Sharks: Santeri Aalto, C, Tappara (SM Liiga)

The Sharks take the top player on the board. This is excellent value by San Jose here with Aalto.

  20. St. Louis Blues: Carson MacKinnon, C, Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL)

Carson MacKinnon is the little brother of former Rimouski Oceanic captain Ryan MacKinnon. I have to believe he gets drafted somewhere in the seventh round as a result.

  21. New York Rangers: Tyler Gratton, RW, Chicago Steel (USHL)

Tyler Gratton scored the game-winning goal to help the Chicago Steel win their USHL Championship in 2017. He would be a good player for the Rangers to develop here.

  22. Edmonton Oilers: Brett Leason, C, Tri-City Americans (WHL)

Edmonton drafts another center. Brett Leason is a good value pick at this point the seventh round.

  23. Minnesota Wild: Cedric Pare, C, Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL)

Minnesota takes a center here. He's a future player for the Iowa Wild in the AHL.

  24. Columbus Blue Jackets: Barrett Sheen, LW, Kootenay Ice (WHL)

Columbus gets a big winger here. Barrett Sheen is a 6-4 218 lb left winger.

  25. Winnipeg Jets: Jacob Golden, D, London Knights (OHL)

The Jets get Jacob Golden here. The 5-11 165 lb Golden is undersized, but he has huge offesnive potential.

  26. San Jose Sharks: Pontus Eltonius, G, Vaxjo Lakers (Elitserien)

The Sharks draft a developmental goalie here. Pontus Eltonius of the Vaxjo Lakers makes sense here.

  27. Washington Capitals: Brayden Gorda, D, Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL)

Washington grabs a defenseman for depth. The 6-2 190 lb Brayden Gorda is my top defender here.

  28. San Jose Sharks: Griffin Mendel, D, Penticon Vees (BCHL)
San Jose grabs defense for depth. Griffin Mendel is 6-3 209 lbs and makes sense for San Jose here.

  29. Chicago Blackhawks: Carson Sass, D, Red Deer Rebels (WHL)

Chicago grabs another defender here. Carson Sass is the best player available here.

  30. Nashville Predators: Parker Kelly, C, Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)

Nashville takes the best player on the board. At this point that player is Parker Kelly.

  31. Pittsburgh Penguins: Mac Hollowell, D, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL)

Pittsburgh drafts a defenseman for depth to wrap up the 2017 NHL Entry Drafft. Mac Hollowell is the Mr. Irrelevant in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
