2015 NBA Mock Draft: Final Mock 2 Rounds

Round 2

Posted By: Jesse Lucas Last Updated: June, 24, 2015

  1. Minnesota Timberwolves: Anthony Brown, SF, Stanford

Minnesota will finally have a good starting five with Ricky Rubio at point guard, Zach LaVine at shooting guard, Andrew Wiggins at small forward, Karl-Anthony Towns at power forward, along with Nikola Pekovic at center.

Anthony Brown is the best player available and makes complete sense for a team looking to add backups after getting their starting five filled by taking Karl-Anthoiny Towns with the top pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Brown posted 12.3 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, and 2.1 assists per game in 2013-2014. He improved on those numbers with 14.7 points per game, 6.9 rebounders per game, and 2.5 assists per game in 2014-2015.

Brown is the kind of guy that can get your 14-20 points per game, 8 rebounds per game, and 3 assists per game if you put him in your starting five. If he's a backup he can get you 9 points per game, 4 rebounds per game, and 1 assist per game. Those numbers are pretty good for someone who wants to unseat Shabazz Muhammed as the backup small forward on the Timberwolves.

If Andrew Wiggins gets into foul trouble you are looking at a guy that can get you 12-15 points per game, 6 rebounds per game, and 2 assists per game.

Brown carried a 3.8 GPA at Stanford. He seems like the perfect backup to Wiggins since Shabazz Muhammed has been a team cancer since the Timberwolves took him in the first round round of the 2013 NBA Draft. Minnesota should find a way to package Muhammed and Anthony Bennett the top pick in the 2013 NBA Draft that got dealt to Minnesota in the Kevin Love trade. The only question is what could they get for both players in a trade?

It doesn't matter who the Timberwolves get for Muhammed or Bennett. The bottom line is Stanford small forward Anthony Brown is going to the Timberwolves.

Previous Pick: Bobby Portis, PF, Arkansas

  2. Houston Rockets: Jordan Mickey, PF, LSU

Houston has the luxury to go best player available. At this point, I think that player is Jordan Mickey out of LSU.

Previous Pick: Damian Jones, C, Vanderbilt

  3. Boston Celtics: Jarrell Martic, PF, LSU

In my last mock, I gave the 76ers Chris Walker. This time the Celtics get a power forward of their own in Jarrell Martic. Martic played small forward at LSU. He's also got the versatility to play power forward which is the position he will transition to in the NBA.

Previous Pick: Chris Walker, PF, Florida

  4. Los Angeles Lakers: Nikola Milutinov, C, Serbia

If the Lakers draft for need and pass on Okafor in the first round then they will need a center in the second round. Nikola Milutinov makes a ton of sense here.

Previous Pick: Rashad Vaughn, SG, UNLV

  5. Philadelphia 76ers: Norman Powell, SG, UCLA

Philadelphia will need a shooting guard at some point. The 6-4 215 lb Norman Powell is still available in the second round. Powell did an awesome job leading UCLA to the Sweet 16 and should be taken in the top 40.

Previous Pick: Ilimane Diop, C, Senegal

  6. Minnesota Timberwolves: Andrew Harrison, PG, Kentucky

Andrew Harrison makes a ton of sense. Harrison has the versatility to play point guard or shooting guard. The Timberwolves could use backups at both guard positions which is why Harrison is a perfect fit for the Timberwolves.

Previous Pick: Justin Anderson, SF, Virginia

  7. Philadelphia 76ers: Cedi Osman, PG, Macedonia

Philadelphia gets a second point guard here. Cedi Osman is a sleeper to keep an eye on.

Previous Pick: Justise Winslow, SF, Duke

  8. Detroit Pistons: Dakari Johnson, C, Kentucky

Andre Drummond was excellent in 2013-2014, but mediocre as a rookie in 2012-2013. Drummond failed to build on his breakout sophomore season and played more like the guy that struggled as a rookie in 2014-2015 after making the 2014 NBA All Star Game.

Dakari Johnson is a steal at this point. Johnson would challenge Mr. Drummond for the starting center job.

Previous Pick: Moussa Diagne, PF, Senegal

  9. Charlotte Hornets: Olivier Hanlan, PG, Boston College

Olivier Hanlan can play point guard or shooting guard with his versatility. Charlotte gets him as a depth player. He's not as talented as Andrew Harrison, but he has much better character.

Previous Pick: Jordan Mickey, PF, LSU

  10. Miami Heat: Joseph Young, SG, Oregon

Miami will need a new shooting guard if Dwyane Wade opts out of his contract. Joseph Young is building a lot of momentum right now as his draft stock continues to rise leading up to the 2015 NBA Draft.

Previous Pick: Denzel Valentine, SG, Michigan State

  11. Brooklyn Nets: Robert Upshaw, C, Washington

Robert Upshaw would make a great backup to Brook Lopez. I know Upshaw has some character issues, but he's too talented to fall out of the top 50.

Previous Pick: Mario Hezonja, SG, F.C. Barcelona

  12. Utah Jazz: Michael Frazier, SG, Florida

Utah can either get the best player available in Mouhammadou Jaiteh, a big man center from France or they can draft for need with Michael Frazier. I was going to give the Jazz Jaiteh before I realized I had Kaminsky going to the Jazz in round 1.

Previous Pick: Josh Richardson, SG, Tennessee

  13. Indiana Pacers: Mouhammadou Jaiteh, C, France

Indiana should get a center in case Roy Hibbert leaves. Mouhammadou Jaiteh goes from France to Indiana.

Previous Pick: Juwan Staten, PG, West Virginia

  14. Phoenix Suns: Arturas Gudiaitis, C, Lithuania

If the Suns cannot land a center in the first round they have to take one here. Arturas Gudiaitis is a good addition here.

Previous Pick: Winston Shephard, SF, San Diego State

  15. Boston Celtics: Rakeem Christmas, C, Syracuse

Rakeem Christmas has the versatility to play power forward or center. Boston drafts him as a center for depth.

Previous Pick: Buddy Hield, SG, Oklahoma

  16. Milwaukee Bucks: Jonathan Holmes, SF, Texas

Jonathan Holmes has the versatility to play small forward or power forward. He'd be a huge asset to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Previous Pick: Willie Cauley-Stein, C, Kentucky

  17. Philadelphia 76ers: J.P. Tokoto, SF, North Carolina

J.P. Tokoto is the top small forward left in the second round. He's a riser that teams should keep an eye on.

Previous Pick: Briante Weber, PG, Virginia Commonwealth

  18. Oklahoma City Thunder: Luka Mitrovic, PF, Serbia

The Oklahoma City Thunder just hired former Florida Gators basketball head coach Billy Donovan. Coach Donovan is placing a huge emphasis on defense. One of the best international players on defense in this years draft is Luka Mitrovic. You have to think the Thunder will spend one of their two picks on a defensive player.

Previous Pick: Olivier Hanlan, PG, Boston College

  19. Washington Wizards: Daniel Diez, SF, Spain

Paul Pierce will be missed when he retires or leaves by trade or free agency. I'm not sold on Otto Porter succeeding him.

Previous Pick: Brandon Ashley, PF, Arizona

  20. Atlanta Hawks: Adin Vrabac, SF, Bosnia

Atlanta gets a small forward for depth here. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like small forward Kyle Korver is more of a shooting guard filling in at the 3.

Previous Pick: LeBryan Nash, SF, Oklahoma State

  21. Orlando Magic: Richaun Holmes, PF, Bowling Green

Orlando takes the top power forward available Richaun Holmes out of Bowling Green has impressed the Magic at Pre Draft workouts.

Previous Pick: Kaleb Tarczewski, C, Arizona

  22. Dallas Mavericks: Travis Trice, PG, Michigan State

Dallas is gonna lose Rondo. Travis Trice could be a solid addition.

Previous Pick: Andre Hollins, PG, Minnesota

  23. Cleveland Cavaliers: Pat Connaughton, SG, Notre Dame

Cleveland needs to find a replacement to Dion Waiters. I'm not sold on Iman Shumpert. Maybe Pat Connaughton is that guy.

Previous Pick: Tyrone Wallace, SG, California

  24. Utah Jazz: Cliff Alexander, PF, Kansas

Utah needs a new starter at power forward now that they traded Enes Kanter to Oklahoma City. Cliff Alexander is a steal this late in the second round.

Previous Pick: Frank Kaminsky, C, Wisconsin

  25. San Antonio Spurs: Larry Nance Jr., PF, Wyoming

San Antonio needs a successor to Tim Duncan. Larry Nance Jr. really impressed me on tape. I think he has a chance to be a stud on the Spurs in a few years and worst case scenario he starts at power forward in the NBA D League.

Previous Pick: Norman Powell, SG, UCLA

  26. New Orleans Pelicans: Josh Richardson, SG, Tennessee

New Orleans can take the best player available. Josh Richardson is the top player left..

Previous Pick: Chasson Randle, PG, Stanford

  27. Denver Nuggets: Aaron White, SF, Iowa

Since the Clippers ended up with the 56th pick this pick went to Denver after the Clippers had 31-50 protected and 51-55 for the Lakers protected.

Denver takes Aaron White here. White makes a ton of sense at this spot because he has the versatility to play small forward or power forward in the NBA.

Previous Pick: Robert Upshaw, C, Washington

  28. Philadelphia 76ers: Michael Qualls, SG, Arkansas

Bobby Portis isn't the only Razorback that will get drafted. Keep an eye on on Michael Qualls.

Previous Pick: Terran Petteway, SF, Nebraska

  29. Atlanta Hawks: Alan Williams, C, U.C. Santa Barbara

Atlanta drafts a center for depth behind Al Horford. Alan Williams posted 17.6 points per game and 12.l rebounds per game in 2014-2015.

Previous Pick: A.J. Hammons, C, Purdue

  30. Philadelphia 76ers: Tyler Harvey, SG, Eastern Washington

Philadelphia will need a shooting guard at some point. Tyler Harvey is still available in the second round.

Tyler Harvey led the NCAA with 23.1 points per game in 2014-2015 and had 21.8 points per game in 2013-2014. Damian Lillard led the nation with points per game at Weber State and Steph Curry played at Davidson before becoming the face of the Golden State Warriors. The 76ers take this small school shooting guard hoping they can get a blue chip starter in the second round.

Previous Pick: Treveon Graham, SG, Virginia Commonwealth
