2015 NBA Mock Draft: Final Mock 2 Rounds

Round 1 Picks 16-30

Posted By: Jesse Lucas Last Updated: June, 24, 2015

  1. Boston Celtics: Sam Dekker, SF, Wisconsin

Boston needs a small forward. Sam Dekker is the best available player on the board. Boston will grab Dekker in a heartbeat if he slips out of the top 15. Louisville point guard Terry Rozier is another player the Celtics are high on, but Dekker is simply too good to pass on here at 16.

Previous Pick: Karl-Anthony Towns, PF, Kentucky

  2. Milwaukee Bucks: Trey Liles, PF, Kentucky

Milwaukee needs a power forward really badly. Luckily for the Bucks, Trey Liles is still available.

Previous Pick: Delon Wright, SG, Utah

  3. Houston Rockets: Tyus Jones, PG, Duke

Houston needs a new point guard now that Jeremy Lin is on the Lakers. Tyus Jones gets the edge over Cameron Payne since Jones looks like the more complete point guard.

Previous Pick: Jerian Grant, PG, Notre Dame

  4. Washington Wizards: Cameron Payne, PG, Murray State

Washington has the luxury to go with the best player available. Back in February that player was Kansas power forward Cliff Alexander. Now that player is Murray State point guard Cameron Payne.

Previous Pick: Cliff Alexander, PF, Kansas

  5. Toronto Raptors: Rondae-Hollis Jefferson, SF, Arizona

Toronto is set with Kyle Lowry and Demar DeRozan at point guard and shooting guard. Jonas Valenciunas is a solid center who has improved his points per game in each of his first three seasons. Toronto still needs two forwards with one at small forward and one at power forward.

Small forward is clearly the greater of those two needs. I think Rondae-Hollis Jefferson is a good pick. He's the top small forward available and fills the Raptors biggest need.

Previous Pick: Wayne Seldin, SG, Kansas

  6. Dallas Mavericks: Kevon Looney, PF, UCLA

Kevon Looney has no business starting. However, many consider him a first round talent. If he went to a team like Dallas where he sat behind Dirk Nowitzki for a few years he could succeed Nowitzki and become a star in the NBA.

Previous Pick: Jakob Poeltl, C, Utah

  7. Chicago Bulls: Rashad Vaughn, SG, UNLV

Chicago needs a shooting guard for depth. Rashad Vaughn out of UNLV is the top shooting guard left.

Previous Pick: Tyus Jones, PG, Duke

  8. Portland Trail Blazers: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, SF, Arizona

Portland could use an upgrade at shooting guard. R.J. Hunter is an awesome value pick and would start right awway at point guard.

Previous Pick: Dakari Johnson, C, Kentucky

  9. Cleveland Cavaliers: Justin Anderson, SF, Virginia

Back in February, I mocked Sam Dekker to Cleveland saying that the Cavaliers need a backup to LeBron James. I've got Virginia small forward Justin Anderson going to Cleveland now. Sure he was a Cavalier at Virginia, but he's also a good backup to someone like James in the NBA.

Previous Pick: Sam Dekker, SF, Wisconsin

  10. Memphis Grizzlies: Montrezl Harrell, PF, Louisville

Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph has been a deadly front court tandem in Memphis over the past few years. I think one of them won't be back with the Grizzlies though. I think Memphis will trade Randolph or let him sign with another team as a Free Agent this summer. The Grizzlies want the cap space to retain Gasol even if it means letting Randolph leave the team.

If Randolph leaves another power forward will be needed. Montrezl Harrell would be a good addition here.

Previous Pick: Marcus Paige, PG, North Carolina

  11. San Antonio Spurs: Guillermo Hermangomez, C, Spain

San Antonio should draft a starting center. Guillermo Hermangomez is the top center left. If San Antonio gets Hermangomez to start right away at center while retaining Kawhi Leonard who is set to be a Free Agent, then the Spurs have a chance to get another championship if they can get past the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

Previous Pick: Caris LeVert, SG, Michigan

  12. Los Angeles Lakers: Delon Wright, PG, Utah

The Lakers will draft a point guard here with Jeremy Lin set to be a free agent. Back in February I mocked Terry Rozier here. I like Delon Wright here now since he has the versatility to play point guard or shooting guard.

Previous Pick: Terry Rozier, PG, Louisville

  13. Boston Celtics: Chris McCullough, PF, Syracuse

Boston has Jared Sullinger. At the same time the Celtics have two power forwards with expiring contracts in Brandon Bass and Jonas Jerebko.

Syracuse has two power forwards in Chris McCullough and Rakeem Christmas. I like McCullough better so he's the pick here at 28.

Previous Pick: Isaiah Taylor, PG, Texas

  14. Brooklyn Nets: Christian Wood, PF, UNLV

Brooklyn desperately needs a power forward after losing Kevin Garnett. Christian Wood is a first to second round prospect that makes a lot of sense at 29.

Previous Pick: Jonathan Holmes, PF, Texas

  15. Golden State Warriors: Terry Rozier, PG, Louisville

Terry Rozier had a breakout season n 2014-2015 where he posted 17.1 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, 3 assists per game, and 2 steals per game. Rozier looks like a pretty complete point guard. I cannot see him escaping the first round.

Golden State can take the best player available. Terry Rozier won't escape the first round.

Previous Pick: Mouhammadu Jaiteh, C, France
