2026 MLS Mock Draft: Final Mock 3 Rounds

Round 1 Picks 16-30

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: December 18, 2025.

  1. F.C. Dallas: Jeremi Abonnel, G, Saint Louis

The 6-0 180 lb Jeremi Abonnel plays the 1 at goalie. Jeremi Abonnel was the Atlantic 10 Goalie Of The Year at Saint Louis last year recording 9 shutouts and a 0.94 goals against average with a 7-5-8 record in 2024. Jeremi Abonnel had a 13-3-8 record, a 0.77 goals against average, a .779 save percentage, 67 saves, 11 shutouts, faced 213 shots, has 1 assist, and repeated as Atlantic 10 Goalie Of The Year in 2025. I saw Jeremi Abonnel's game when Saint Louis came to Duquense and this guy showed he could be just as consistent at goalie without Max Floriani, a center back that was drafted second overall in 2025, so for me Jeremi Abonnel is a first round goalie. Saint Louis defeated Dayton in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship in penalty kicks thanks to Jermi Abonnel's goaltending before defeating Kentucky in front of their home crowd before Saint Louis upset the 6 seed Indiana Hoosiers in a 1-0 shutout that Jeremi Abonnel was responsible for helping Saint Louis win. Saint Louis also defeated Bryant in penalty kicks and Akron in a 3-2 shootout before getting to the Final 4 of the 2025 College Cup. Jeremi Abonnel was simply money in penalty shootouts this year.

  2. Austin FC: Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch, D, Princeton

Austin F.C. runs a 3-4-3 formation. Austin FC has Owen Wolfe at the 11 at left winger and Daniel Pereira the player they drafted first overall as an expansion team in the 2021 MLS Super Draft at the 8 at central midfielder as their only two building blocks. Jon Gallagher is also a solid contributor at left midfielder. Brad Stuver got an extension for what he did at the 1 at goalie with 9 shutouts and 128 saves starting all 34 starts. Austin FC gets a center back in the 2026 MLS Super Draft.

The 6-3 190 lb Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch had 1 goal, 0 assists, 2 points, helped Princeton record 10 shutouts, and helped Princeton defeat Cornell 2-0 to win the 2025 Ivy League Championship before losing to Duke in the round of 32 in the 2025 College Cup in 2025.

  3. Chicago Fire F.C.: Edouard Nys, M, UIC

Chicago Fire F.C. ran a 4-3-3 in the play in game of the 2025 MLS Playoffs with 4 defenders, 3 midfielders, and 3 forwards. Chicago Fire F.C. ran a 3-4-3 with 3 defenders, 4 midfielders, and 3 forwards in the second round of the playoffs against the Philadelphia Union. This means Chicago has to have four quality defenders and 4 quality midfielders. Chicago will probably draft the best midfielder or defender on their board at 18.

Chicago Fire F.C. has Chris Mueller playing the 11 at left winger. Hugo Cuypers is the 9 at striker for Chicago Fire F.C. The 28-year-old Hugo Cuypers had 10 goals for Chicago Fire F.C in 2024 and 17 goals for Chicago Fire F.C. in 2025. Phillip Zinckernagel played the 7 at right winger and had 15 goals and 15 assists in 2025. Chris Mueller missed all of this season as Jonathan Bamba filled in at left winger in relief of Mueller as Jonathan Bamba had 5 goals and 10 assists in 2025. Dean Boltz, the third pick in the 2025 MLS Super Draft out of Wisconsin could be a backup to Hugo Cuypers next season. Maren Haile-Selassie is the backup right winger. Chicago Fire F.C. will have amazing starters and depth players at forward next season.

Brady Gutierez is the left midfielder as he had 9 goals in 2025 with him playing the 10 at attacking midfielder as an extra winger. Dje D'Aivill plays the 8 at central midfielder. Tom Barlow plays the 6 at defensive midfielder, the 7 as an extra right winger, and the 10 as an extra attacking midfielder in both three midfielder sets and four midfielder sets as the right midfielder.

Andrew Gutman now plays the 2 at left back and he has 10 assists with Chicago Fire F.C. in 2025. Jack Elliott, the former Philadelphia Union center back plays the 4 at sweeper. Joel Waterman plays the 5 at center back, but can play the 2 at right back when Chicago Fire F.C. only deploys three defenders, but he plays center back when Chicago Fire F.C. deploys four defenders. Jonathan Dean last years left back now plays the 3 at right back in four defender fourmations as well as the 6 at defensive midfielder in formations with four midfielders.

Chris Brady is a 21-year-old starting goalie playing the 1. Chris Brady remains the starting goalie. Jeff Gal one of the two backup goalies exercised his player option and will return to Chicago as the backup. Chicago also drafted Notre Dame goalie Bryan Dowd sixth overall in 2024, who got loaned to Hunstville, the MLS Next team of Nashville S.C in 2024. He got loaned to Chicago's MLS Next Team after being called up in 2025.

Chicago Fire F.C. has the luxury to draft for value over need. This means Chicago Fire F.C. will draft the best player on the board at 18. Edouard Nys is the best player on the board at 18.

Edouard Nys is the biggest riser in the 2026 MLS Draft. He moved up from 35 on my big board as an early second round all the way up to 11 in my initial 2026 MLS Mock Draft. This guy was not even featured on the preseason top 100 for Top Drawer Soccer and moved ahead of Richie Aman who I mocked to Sporting Kansas City at 4 in their midseason top 100. Edouard Nys ended up falling to the hometown Chicago Fire F.C. at 18 and this is the furthest I see him dropping.

The 5-8 159 lb Edouard Nys plays the 8 at central midfielder and the 10 at attacking midfielder with his versatility. Edouard Nys had 17 goals, 22 assists, and 56 points as a freshman at Northeast Community College as a freshman in 2023. Edouard Nys had 31 goals, 27 assists, and 89 points as a sophomore at Northeast Community College in 2024. Edouard Nys transferred to UIC, Illinois Chicago this year and had 16 goals, 5 assists, and 37 points as a junior in 2025.

Edouard Nys does a great job of kicking the soccer ball into the corners of the net. This guy is able to hit shots and score goals from the hardest areas of the net to hit. Edouard Nys makes shots that you cannot teach a striker to make the kind of shots you either make from nearly impossible angles or don't. Edouard Nys has that it factor. This kicking power and kicking accuracy is superb.

Previous Pick: Cooper Forcellini, M, Xavier

  4. Colorado Rapids: Dren Dobruna, D, Dayton

The Colorado Rapids draft their left back of the future to play the 2 at 19. Dren Dobruna did play on New York City F.C.'s Academy, but when they transferred him to another team on a loan, they waived his academy rights. Dren Dobruna is up there with Nicholas Simmonds as the youngest player in the 2026 MLS Super Draft. Dren Dobruna played his freshman year at Sienna before transferring to Dayton as a sophomore in 2025.

The 5-10 137 lb Dren Dobruna plays the 2 at left back. Dren Dobruna had 2 goals, 10 assists, 14 points, and helped Siena record 6 shutouts in 2024. Dren Dobruna had 1 goal, 4 assists, 6 points, and helped Dayton record 8 shutouts before losing to Saint Louis in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship Game in penalty kicks in 2025. Dren Dobruna was the first player to accept an invite to the 2025 MLS College Showcase.

Previous Pick: Lasse Kelp, D, Maryland

  5. Orlando City S.C.: Pablo Pozos, F, West Virginia

Orlando goes for value over need. Pablo Pozos is the best player on the board at this point in the first round.

The 6-0 170 lb Pablo Pozos plays the 9 at striker. Pablo Pozos was the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2023 at Wingate. Pablo Pozos had 9 goals, 1 assist, and 19 points at Wingate in 2024. Pablo Pozos had 11 goals, 3 assists, and 25 points since transferring from Wingate to West Virginia as West Virginia got to the round of 32 before losing to High Point in 2025. That is second on West Virginia in points behind Marcus Calderia, Minnesota United's 2024 first round pick that had 10 goals, 7 assists, and 27 points as a senior in 2025. West Virginia lost a heartbreaker to Marshall in double overtime in the 2025 Sun Belt Semifinals, but should make the 2025 College Cup as an at large team.

  6. F.C. Dallas: Clarence Awoudor, M, Central Florida

F.C. Dallas gets another playmaker doubling up at midfielder with their 4-4-2 formation. Clarence Awoudor leads the country in assists in college soccer this year.

The 5-7 160 lb Clarence Awoudor can play the 9 at striker or the 10 at attacking midfielder with his versatility. Clarence Awoudor had 7 goals, 15 assists, 29 points, and led Central Florida to a 2025 Sun Belt Conference Championship over Marshall before losing to Georgetown in the round of 32 in the 2025 College Cup in 2025.

  7. Charlotte FC: Jackson Leavitt, G, Elon

Charlotte FC ran a 4-3-3 formation during the 2024 MLS Playoffs and ran that same formation once again in the 2025 MLS Playoffs. Charlotte FC has Wilfred Zaha playing the 11 at left winger after he posted 10 goals and 10 assists in 2025. Idan Toklomati took over for Patrick Ageymang as the striker playing the 9 after Derby FC bought out the rights to Patrick Ageymang Charlotte FC's 2023 first round pick that was drafted twelfth overall. Ida Toklomati had 11 goals, 4 assists, and 15 points in 19 starts this season. Kerwin Vargas plays the 7 at right winger.

Brandt Bronico plays the 6 at defensive midfielder, Ashley Westwood plays the 8 at central midfielder, and Pep Biel plays the 10 at attacking midfielder. Pep Biel had 10 goals, 12 assists, and 22 points in 2025.

Harry Toffolo plays the 2 at left back, Tim Ream plays the 4 at sweeper, Adilson Malanda plays the 5 at center back, and Nathan Byrne plays the 3 at right back. Charlotte FC has everyone on this back line back for next season.

Kristijan Kahlina plays the 1 at goalie. Kristijan Kahlina started all 34 games only allowing 3 goals in 3,060 minutes with 121 saves, a 76.6% save percentage, and 12 clean sheets which is slang for shutouts in the MLS in 2024. Kristijan Kahlina had 12 shutouts and 129 saves in 32 starts this season in 2025. He will be back, but both backup goalies have expiring contracts. David Bingham the backup goalie is not back and Kristijan Kahlina is 33-years-old with him turning 34 right before August in 2026.

Charlotte FC drafts a goalie for the future. Elon goalie Jackson Leavitt is the fifth goalie to come off the board in the first round. The record for MLS goalies drafted in the first round is 4 goalies. There could be as many as 7 teams in the top 12 that draft a goalie and as many as 9 teams in the first round that could draft a goalie. I had six goalies in my initial top 30, but added two goalies that weren't in my top 30 to the first round of this mock draft. So you are looking at 5-9 teams that are in the market for a goalie as well as 5-9 goalies that could end up going in the first round. That's how strong this goalie draft is which is why I am expecting the record for goalies getting drafted in the first round to get broken.

The 6-0 150 lb Jackson Leavitt plays the 1 at goalie at Elon. Jackson Leavitt had a 9-3-7 record, 11 goals allowed, a 0.57 goals against average, a .843 save percentage, 12 shutouts, and has faced 204 shots while leading Elon to win the 2025 CAA Championship before losing to UNC Greensboro in penalty kicks in a 0-0 game in 2025.

Charlotte FC is one team in the back half that can gamble on Jackson Leavitt. If it works out, they have their successor to Kristijan Kahlina with David Bingham set to be a Free Agent.

  8. Minnesota United F.C.: Daniel Lugo, F, High Point

Minnesota United F.C. ran a 4-2-3-1 formation. Tani Oluwaseyi plays the 11 at left winger. Joaquin Pereyra plays the 10 at attacking midfielder. Minnesota United F.C. does not have a natural striker that plays the 9 that can score 10 goals. Marcus Calderia could be that guy next year if he signs his contract with Minnesota United F.C. after being Minnesota United's 2024 first round pick. I am still giving Minnesota a striker for insurance. The player I am giving Minnesota United F.C. is High Point striker Daniel Lugo.

The 6-2 185 lb Daniel Lugo plays the 9 at striker on High Point. Daniel Lugo had 14 goals, 5 assists, 33 points, helped High Point post 10 shutouts wiht his defensive play at forward, won 2025 Big South Offensive Player Of The Year, led High Point to a 2025 Big South Conference Title, and has helped High Point make the Sweet 16 of the 2025 College Cup in 2025.

  9. LAFC: Cooper Forcellini, M, Xavier

LAFC ran a 4-3-3 formation with four defensemen, three midfielders, and three forwards. LAFC has Denis Bouanga playing the 11 at left winger with 24 goals and 9 assists, and 33 points in 2025. Son Heung-min playing the 9 at striker after having 9 goals, 3 assists, and 12 points in 2025. Timothy Tillman plays the 7 at right winger and got a contract extension. Jeremy Ebobisse is the backup striker, Ryan Raposo is the backup left winger, and David Martinez is the backup right winger. LAFC also drafted Massachusetts striker Alec Hughes in the first round of the 2025 MLS Super Draft. Nathan Ordaz has been extended until 2030 after LAFC signed a homegrown player that had 7 goals and 7 assists as a 21-year-old.

Mark Delgado plays the 8 at central midfielder and Eddie Segura plays the 6 at defensive midfielder. Mathieu Choineiere is a UFA and LAFC needs an upgrade at the 10 at attacking midfielder.

Ryan Hollingshead plays the 2 at left back, Ryan Porteous plays the 4 at sweeper, Nkosi Tafari plays the 5 at center back, and Sergi Pelencia plays the 3 at right back. LAFC has everyone on the back line coming back next year. Eddie Segura, Lorenzoo Dellavalle, and Kenny Nielsen from Georgetown give LAFC depth at center back.

Hugo Lloris plays the 1 at goalie. He had 12 shutouts for the second season in a row and Lloris was the starting goalie on France and they won the 2018 FIFA World Cup over Croatia. Hugo Lloris and David Ochoa the two backup goalies have club options for 2026.

LAFC has most of the components to win an MLS Cup outside of an attacking midfielder. If they can retain this core, they could be a force next year. Drafting an attacking midfielder makes a lot of sense here.

The 6-0 160 lb Cooper Forcellini had 10 goals, 2 assists, 22 points, and helped Xavier record 4 shutouts as a senior in 2025. He could develop into a true 10 for LAFC at attacking midifelder.

Previous Pick: Laurie Goddard, M, Hofstra

  10. Real Salt Lake: Stephane Njike, F, Maryland

Real Salt Lake drafts someone that can play the 11 at left winger. Stephane Njike makes a lot of sense here.

The 5-11 176 lb Stephane Njike plays the 11 at left winger. Stephane Njike had 6 goals, 5 assists, and 17 points as a freshman at Long Island in 2024. Stephane Njike had 7 goals, 7 assists, and 21 points with Maryland in 2025.

  11. Colorado Rapids: Charles-Emile Brunet, M, SMU

Colorado uses this final first round pick on a defensive midfielder. Charles Emile Bruent was the catalyst of the 2025 ACC Champion, SMU Mustangs, so if one SMU player gets picked in the first round, I think it will be Charles Emile Brunet.

The Colorado Rapids get a player that can play the 6 at defesive midfielder in the third round. Coincidentally, Charles-Emile Brunet is a former Academy player for CF Montreal. He has domestic status and will not count as an International player for an American or Canadian MLS team. Charles-Emile Brunet is only a sophomore, but the passing, kicking power, kicking accuracy you want from a midfielder is there.

The 5-8 145 lb Charles-Emile Brunet had 2 goals, 6 assists, 10 points, and helped SMU record 7 shutouts as their defensive midfielder as a sophomore in 2025. Charles-Emile Brunet was considered the best player on SMU this season after transferring from Central Arkansas to SMU.

Previous Pick: Noah James, M, San Diego

  12. New York City F.C.: Kenan Hot, M, Duke

New York City F.C. ran a 5-4-1 formation with five defenders, four midfielders, and 1 forward. New York City F.C. came the closest to making a dent in my MLS Playoff Bracket as I picked Inter Miami C.F. to win the MLS Cup over LAFC. Ok, Vancouver may have made a dent in my bracket too, but New York City F.C. has a very bright future.

New York City F.C. has Alonso Martinez playing the 9 at striker. Alonso Martinez had 17 goals in 2025.

New York City F.C. has Nicolas Fernandez at the 11 at left winger. Maxi Moralez plays the 10 at attacking midfielder and is a UFA as Maxi Moralez led New York City F.C. in assists this year. Aiden O'Neill plays the 8 at central midfielder, and Hannes Wolf plays the 7 at right winger.

New York City F.C. has Kevin O'Toole at the 2 at left back. Raul Gustavo plays the 4 at sweeper, Justin Haak is a UFA and he plays the 6 at defensive midfielder even though a third center back is recommended when you run a formation like a 5-4-1 versus a defensive midfieder, Thiago plays the 5 at center back, and Tayvon Gray plays the 3 at right back.

Matt Freese plays the 1 at goalie. The homegrown goalie had 96 saves and 8 shutouts in 2025.

New York can draft the best player available. I am giving New York a midfielder for depth that will not require an International roster slot. The player I gave them at 27 is Duke midfielder Kenan Hot, one of their former Academy players. Kenan Hot is a player that some had a first round grade on, but people were unsure if Hot would be in the 2026 MLS Draft with Hot playing on New York City F.C. as an Academy player. Kenan Hot got invited to the 2025 MLS College Showcase, so he is draft eligble for 2026. Kenan Hot can play the 6 at defensive midfielder and the 8 at central midfielder.

The 5-11 165 lb Kenan Hot had 8 goals, 4 assists, 20 points and helped Duke record 10 shutouts in 2025. Kenan Hot began his career as a defensive midfielder, but transitioned to central midfielder while maintaining a high level of defensive play while also improving offensively.

Previous Pick: Diego Hernandez, M, Furman

  13. San Diego FC: Mitchell Baker, F, Georgetown

San Diego FC ran a 4-3-3 formation. San Diego FC exceeded expectations for an expansion team. In my first mock I had San Diego FC making the 2025 Western Conference Finals and that's exactly what happened before the Vancouver Whitecaps won the 2025 Western Conference Finals in San Diego.

Chucky Lozano plays the 11 at left winger after posting 9 goals and 10 assists in 2025. Anders Dreyer plays the 11 at right winger and had 19 goals and 10 assists in 2025.

Anidbal Godoy plays the 6 at defensive midfielder and he's a UFA after this season as the left midfielder. Jeppe Tverskov plays the 8 at central midfielder lined up in the middle of San Diego FC's three man midfielder formation as he can be used at the 6 at defensive midfielder, the 8 at central midfielder, or the 10 at attacking midfielder as team captain Jeppe Tverskov had 2 goals, 13 assists, and 15 points in 2025 as he earned a two year extension. Onni Valarki plays the 10 at attacking midfielder posting 4 goals, 11 assists, and 15 points as Onni Valarki is a UFA.

San Diego FC's backline on defense might be the bread and butter of this team. Luca Romano a 19-year-old plays the 2 at left back making the MLS 22 Under 22 Rankings. Paddy McNair plays the 4 at sweeper. Manu Duah, a defensive midfielder from UC Santa Barbara that was drafted first overall by San Diego FC in the 2025 MLS Super Draft has made the transition from the 6 to the 5 at center back in the MLS. Ian Pilcher, San Diego FC's second 2025 first round pick drafted twenty fourth overall in the 2025 MLS Super Draft was a center back at Charlotte. Ian Pilcher started out as a backup, but he did so well he took the starting right back job at the 3 from former number one overall pick Hamady Diop. Christopher McVey is a backup center back for depth and so is Andres Reyes whose currently injured. San Diego drafted defender Harrison Bertos thirty first overall to start the second round and he's been one of the top 25 players in the NCAA in college soccer this year.

CJ dos Santos plays the 1 at goalie. CJ dos Sanos played 2,700 minutes with 91 saves and 10 shutouts in 2025. Pablo Sisniega the backup goalie is a UFA. Duran Ferree whose now 19-years-old who San Diego FC signed when he was 18 spent his rookie season in MLS Next, but he will be the backup goalie next year and should be groomed behind CJ dos Santos to be the goalie of the future with a very young backline helping out the goaltending on defense.

San Diego has a few needs such as striker, attacking midfielder, and defensive midfielder. San Diego FC could also use some depth at both left back and right back. I gave San Diego FC the best striker on the board which is Georgetown striker Mitchell Baker who I initially had in the second round, but he's been so dominant down the stretch that he's played his way into the late first round.

The 6-5 205 lb Mitchell Baker had 14 goals, 3 assists, and 31 points at Georgetown guiding the Georgetown Hoyas to a 2025 Big East Championship as well as a Elite 8 appearance in the 2025 College Cup as a sophomore in 2025. Mitchell Baker's under the radar play at striker since taking over for Jacob Murrell has led to Georgetown making the 2025 Big East Tournament Championship game where they defeated Connecticut to win the 2025 Big East Tournament before defeating Sun Belt Champion Central Florida in the round of 32 before beating High Point in the Sweet 16.

Previous Pick: Mikey Johnson, F, Delaware

  14. Vancouver Whitecaps: Mikey Johnson, F, Delaware

Vancouver ran a 4-3-2-1 formation with four defenders, three midfielders, two wingers acting as attacking midfielders, and one striker at central forward. Vancouver's back line helped them get double digit shutouts. Vancouver also brought back Yohei Takaoka on a three year contract extension who plays the 1 at goalie.

Vancouver's central forward Brian White led the Vancouver Whitecaps with 16 goals playing the 9 at striker in 2024. Brian White had 16 goals once again 2025, but Brian White only started 18 games out of 34 regular season games due to injuries. It might be time to get Brian White's successor and the long-term striker on the Vancouver Whitecaps with backup striker Daniel Rios being 30 as well. Vancouver's back line recorded 12 shutouts this year, so I am not going with a defender or a goalie in the first round. This pick will be a forward or a midfielder as Brian White was a midfielder before converting to striker on Vancouver.

The 6-2 185 lb Mikey Johnson had 11 goals, 3 assists, and 25 points at Delaware as their secondary striker in 2025. Unlike his teammate Marius Stenner, Mikey Johnson will not require an international roster slot. He's someone that can compliment Brian White as a secondary striker and potentially surpass him as the main striker if he develops.

Previous Pick: Tim Strele, F, Saint Peter's

  15. Inter Miami C.F.: Lasse Kelp, D, Maryland

Inter Miami C.F. has a pretty stacked roster as they ran a 4-4-2. Inter Miami C.F. has Luis Suarez plays the 9 as their main striker as he had 10 goals, 10 assists, and 20 points before returning to Inter Miami C.F. Lionel Messi plays the 10 at attacking midfielder, but he was a secondary striker in the 4-4-2 formation with 29 goals, 10 assists, and 39 points winning the 2025 Golden Boot.

Balatsar Rodriguez plays the 11 at left winger and is only 22-years-old. Sergio Busquetz plays the 6 at defensive midfielder, has 0 goals, 9 assists, and 9 points as Sergio Busquetz will retire after this season. Rodrigo De Paul plays the 8 at central midfielder and Tadeo Allende plays the 7 at right winger and had 10 goals in 2025. Yannick Bright, Inter Miami C.F.'s 2024 first round pick out of New Hamshire will take over for Sergio Busquetz at the 6 in 2026.

Jordi Alba plays the 2 at left back and will retire after this season, Maximiliano Falcon plays the 4 at sweeper, Noah Allen plays the 5 at center back, and Ian Fray plays the 3 at right back. Sergio Reguilon will take over for Jordi Alba playing the 2 at left back.

Dayne St. Clair plays the 1 at goalie as Inter Miami C.F.'s starting goalie. Oscar Ustari is the backup goalie and he's been extended for 2026.

Inter Miami C.F. drafts a center back to stash and develop for depth here that can replace former first round pick Ryan Sailor whose now on the Seattle Sounders. Lasse Kelp makes a ton of sense here at 30.

The 6-3 185 lb Lasse Kelp plays both the 4 at sweeper and the 5 at center back from his time with both UMBC and Maryland the college he transferred to this season. Lasse Kelp had 1 goal, 3 assists, 5 points, has helped Maryland record 9 shutouts, and helped Maryland get to the Elite 8 of the 2025 College Cup with a 3-0 shutout over Connecticut in the Sweet 16 before Maryland lost to Washington in the Elite 8 in 2025.

Previous Pick: Jesus De Vicente, D, Virginia
