2025 MLB Mock Draft: Final Mock 2 Rounds

Round 2

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: July 13, 2025.

  1. Chicago White Sox: Jared Jones, 1B, LSU

Chicago gets their first baseman to replace Andrew Vaughn in the second round. Jared Jones makes a lot of sense.

The 6-4 246 lb Jared Jones a .304 batting average, 12 doubles, 14 home runs, 45 RBI's, 36 walks, 2 stolen bases, and .987 fielding percentage as a freshman at LSU in 2023. Jared Jones had a .301 batting average, 14 doubles, 28 homeruns, 3 stolen bases, and a .991 fielding percentage in 2024. Jared Jones had a .323 batting average, 15 doubles 22 home runs, 76 RBI's, 5 stolen bases, and a .986 fielding percentage in 2025.

  2. Colorado Rockies: Zach Root, P, Arkansas

The Colorado Rockies need pitching in the worst way possible. Arkansas pitcher Zach Root is a Friday Night starter that fell to the second round.

Zach Root pitched at East Carolina for two years before transferring to Arkansas. Zach Root was the number one starter on Arkansas after complimenting last years first round pick Trey Yesavage at East Carolina.

The 6-2 210 lb Zach Root went 9-6 at Arkansas with a 3.62 ERA and 126 strikeouts in 2025. He was 6-2 with a 3.56 ERA at East Carolina last year.

Zach Root has a 94 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 91 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, a 97 mile per hour sinker, a 84 mile per hour changeup, and a 81 mile per hour curveball. Zach Root had 51 strikeouts with his curveball which was the most strikeouts with a curveball among NCAA pitchers in college baseball this past season.

  3. Miami Marlins: Mason Neville, CF, Oregon

The 6-3 210 lb Mason Neville had 57 starts, a .290 batting average, 67 runs, 63 hits, 57 RBI's, 16 doubles, 26 home runs, 9 stolen bases, and a and a .965 fielding percentage as a junior at Oregon in 2025. Mason Neville is someone with the ceiling to become a 40 to 45 home run guy that consistently hits 42 home runs each season in the MLB.

  4. Los Angeles Angels: Brian Curley, P, Georgia

The Los Angeles Angels are looking at bullpen guys. Brian Curley is the top pitcher with experience as a starter and a reliever on the board.

The 5-10 212 lb Brian Curley went 6-0 with a 2.87 ERA as a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixteenth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, but transferred to Georgia for his junior season. Brian Curley could end up being a big time riser in the 2025 MLB Draft with a big season at Georgia giving Baltimore a future starting pitcher.

Brian Curley went 4-4 with 2 saves out of the bullpen posting a 3.35 ERA in 2025. Brian Curley had 90 pitches in each of his final six starts, but some teams feel he was more effective out of the bullpen versus starting since he had an ERA of 0.00 with 4 games where he pitched 3 or fewer innings each games before his ERA went up in 2025.

Brian Curley has a 97 mile per hour 4-seam fastball that reaches up to 100 miles per hour out of the bullpen, a 94 mile per hour 2-seam fastball that reaches up to 100 out of the bullpen, a 85 mile per hour slider, a 88 mile per hour cutter fastball, and a 82 mile per hour curveball. Curley began his draft year in Georgia's bullpen, but became a starter over time. He also was used as both a starter and reliever at Virginia Commonwealth before transferring to Georgia this past season.

  5. Sacramento Athletics: Marcus Phillips, P, Tennessee

The Athletics finally get a pitcher in the second round. Marcus Phillips was the number two starter on Tennessee this past season behind Liam Doyle.

The 6-4 246 lb Marcus Phillips went 4-5 in 17 starts pitching 83 innings recording 98 strikeouts in 2025. Marcus Phillips was Tennessee's Saturday Night Starter with Liam Doyle being the Friday Night Starter.

Marcus Phillips has a 98 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 96 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, a 85 mile per hour slider, and a 90 mile per hour changeup which is least used pitch of his four pitches. Marcus Phillips began at Iowa Western before transferring to Tennessee.

  6. Washington Nationals: James Ellwanger, P, Dallas Baptist

The Washington Nationals drafted James Ellwanger in the ninteenth round two yeras ago. He's a guy I can see the Washington Nationals drafting again two years later.

The 6-4 205 lb James Ellwanger went 4-2 with a 3.98 ERA and 95 strikeouts as a sophomore in 2025. James Ellwanger only had 2 starts where he pitched more than 6 innings winning both games as a starter against Kent State and Jacksonville State.

James Ellwanger has a 95 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 81 mile per hour curveball, a 85 mile per hour slider, a 80 mile per hour changeup, and a 91 mile per hour cutter fastball. James Ellwanger could end up complimenting Mackenzie Gore and Kade Anderson as a number three starter if the Washington Nationals draft him again.

  7. Pittsburgh Pirates: Tate Southisene, SS, Basic HS (NV)

The Pittsburgh Pirates may draft a shortstop to stash in their prospect pool. Tate Southisene could go as early as the first round and is a bargain at this point in the second round.

The 5-8 185 lb Tate Southisene had a .495 batting average, 9 home runs, 50 runs, 33 RBI's, 16 sotlen , and a .929 fielding percentage in 2025. Tate Southisene won the Gatorade High School Player Of The Year Award in Nevada while leading Basic High School to a 5A State Title in the state of Nevada. Tate Southisene also had a 4.18 GPA so he's smart even if you question his size. He plays with a ton of heart.

  8. Cincinnati Reds: Andrew Fischer, 1B, Tennessee

Cincinnati gets a first baseman here. Tennessee first baseman Andrew Fischer is the top first baseman in the 2025 MLB Draft

The 6-1 210 lb Andrew Fischer had a .341 batting average, 70 runs, 74 hits, 16 doubles, 25 home runs, 65 RBI's, a .760 slugging percentage, 4 stolen bases, and a .988 fielding percentage in 2025. Andrew Fischer can fill the void at first baseman that the Cincinnati Reds have had since Joey Votto left the team.

  9. Texas Rangers: Patrick Forbes, P, Louisville

The Texas Rangers get another pitcher here. Patrick Forbes is the top pitcher on the board despite having an ERA of above 4.00.

The 6-3 220 lb Patrick Forbes went 4-2 with a 4.40 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 2025. He did help Louisville get to the 2025 College World Series with his victory of Miami FL in the 2025 Super Regionals which is the biggest reason why some have Patrick Forbes in the top 32 of the 2025 MLB Draft.

Patrick Forbes has a 96 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 92 mile per hour sinker, a 88 mile per hour slider, and a 90 miler per hour cutter fastball. Patrick Forbes does not use a 2-seam fastball, changeup, or a curveball.

  10. Tampa Bay Rays: Dean Moss, CF, IMG Academy HS (FL)

The 6-0 187 lb Dean Moss was teammates with Sean Gamble at IMG Academy playing center fielder on IMG Academy. Dean Moss posted a .471 batting average, 31 runs, 33 hits, 16 RBI's, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 4 stolen bases, and a 1.000 field percentage in 2025.

  11. Minnesota Twins: Landon Harmon, P, East Union HS (MS)

The 6-5 190 lb Landon Harmon went 9-1 with a 0.92 ERA and had 112 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings pitched as a sophomore in 2023. Landon Harmon went 3-1 with a 1.07 ERA had 61 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings pitched as a junior in 2024. Landon Harmon went 6-0 in 30 innings with a 1.17 ERA, and 60 strikeouts as a senior in 2025.

Landon Harmon has a 96 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 93 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, a 81 mile per hour slider, a 88 mile per hour cutter fastball, and a 80 mile per hour changeup.

  12. St. Louis Cardinals: Riley Quick, P, Alabama

St. Louis drafts a pitcher in the second round. Riley Quick was the Saturday Night Starter for Alabama in 2025.

The 6-6 245 lb Riley Quick went 8-3 in 62 innings pitched and had a 3.92 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 2025. Riley Quick only has 2 starts where he pitched 6 innings this season.

Riley Quick has a 97 mile per hour sinker, a 85 mile per hour slider, a 95 mile per hour cutter fastball, and a 88 mile per hour changeup. You'd like to see more variety with his fastball as well as Quick develop a curveball he's got the variety of pitches you want from a big league starter.

  13. Chicago Cubs: Alex Lodise, SS, Florida State

Chicago grabs a shortstop to develop in the minor leagues while Dansby Swanson's contract plays out. Alex Lodise is the starting shortstop on Florida State.

The 6-1 190 lb Alex Loside won the 2025 Dick Howser Award which is College Baseball's version of the Heisman Trophy. Alex Lodise had a .394 batting average, 62 runs, 95 hits, 68 RBI's, 18 doubles, 3 triples, 17 home runs, 6 stolen bases on 6 stolen base attempts, and a .977 fielding percentage in 2025.

  14. Seattle Mariners: Jack Bauer, P, Lincoln-Way East HS (IL)

Seattle is looking at left handed pitchers. Jack Bauer from Lincoln-Way East High School has the best velocity among any pitcher in the 2025 MLB Draft.

The 6-4 190 lb Jack Bauer has a 103 mile per hour 4-seam fastball and a 102 mile per hour 2-seam fastball. That's the best among any pitcher in High School or college in terms of velocity.

  15. Baltimore Orioles: Matthew Fisher, P, Memorial HS (IN)

Baltimore drafts a pitcher here. One of the best High School pitchers still on the board is Matthew Fisher.

The 6-3 205 lb Matthew Fisher had a 5-0 record with a 0.47 ERA in 29 2/3 innings pitched in 2025. He also won the 2025 Indiana Gatorade High School Player Of The Year Award as a senior.

Matthew Fisher has a 93 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 92 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, a 80 mile per hour slider, a 77 mile per hour curveball, and a 84 mile per hour changeup. Matthew Fisher has a chance to become the first player drafted by Memorial High School since Don Mattingley back in 1993.

  16. Milwaukee Brewers: Alec Blair, CF, De La Salle HS (CA)

Milwaukee drafts another outifelder that would play in the minor leagues for the duration of this decade with Milwaukee's outfielders locked up until 2030. Alec Blair could take over for Garrett Mitchell in 2030 when Garrett Mitchell becomes a UFA.

The 6-6 180 lb Alec Blair had a .429 batting average, 30 rusn, 33 hits, 24 RBBI's, 9 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 15 stolen bases, and a .976 fielding percentage in 2025. Alec Blair was a two sport athlete that played baseball and basketball.

  17. Atlanta Braves: Brandon Compton, LF, Arizona State

Atlanta drafts an outfielder for the future. Brandon Compton is one of the best outifelders on Arizona State with the versatility to play all three outfielder roles at left fielder, center fielder, and right fielder.

The 6-1 225 lb Brandon Compton saw his production decline in 2024 to 2025. Brandon Compton went form having a .354 batting average and 14 home runs to having a .271 batting average and 9 home runs in 2025. Brandon Compton did have 10 stolen bases while posting a .996 fielding percentage in 2025 after posting a 1.000 fielding percentage in 2024.

  18. Kansas City Royals: Ryan Mitchell, 2B, Houston HS (TN)

Kansas City gets a player with the versatility to play both shortstop and second baseman. That's what Ryan Mitchell brings to an infield as he could replace Jonathan India when he becomes a UFA in 2027.

The 6-3 185 lb Ryan Mitchell had a .468 batting average, 10 home runs, 61 runs scored, 52 RBI's. His coach said he has the plate discpline of a future Hall of Famer. Ryan Mitchell won the 2025 Gatorade High School Player Of The Year Award in the state of Tennessee.

  19. Detroit Tigers: Ethan Petry, RF, South Carolina

Detroit goes with a right fielder. Matt Vierling is only uner contract until 2028 and something tells me Detroit will not re-sign him.

The 6-4 235 lb Ethan Petry had a .321 batting average, 30 runs, 50 hits, 92 total bases, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 10 ome runs, 34 RBI's, 0 stolen bases, and a .986 fielding percentage in 2025. Ethan Petry hit 23 home runs as a freshman, but a sprained joint shoulder limited him to one game after April in 2025.

  20. Philadelphia Phillies: Mitch Voit, 2B, Michigan

Bryson Stott is a UFA in 2028. Philadelphia drafts a second baseman that could be his eventual replacement with this pick.

The 6-0 201 lb Mitch Voit had a .346 batting average, 53 runs, 72 hits, 17 doubles, 4 triples, 14 home runs, 14 stolen bases, and a .986 fielding percentage in 2025. Mitch Voit could be a second round prospect that develops into a five tool batter.

  21. Cleveland Indians: Dean Curley, SS, Tennessee

Cleveland gets their shortstop of the future here. Tennessee shortstop Dean Curley is a great fit for Cleveland as he could be an eventual replacement to Brayan Rocchio at shortstop.

The 6-3 218 lb Dean Curley posted a .285 batting average, 51 runs, 63 hits, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, 50 RBI's and a .935 fielding percentage as Tennessee's starting shortstop as a true freshman in 2024. Dean Curley had a .315 batting average, 67 runs, 76 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 14 home runs, 51 RBI's, 128 otal bases, a .523 slugging percentage, 8 stolen bases, and a .906 fielding percentage as a junior in 2025. Dean Curley could be that power hitting shortstop that Cleveland is looking for.

  22. Los Angeles Dodgers: Jordan Yost, SS, Sickles HS (FL)

The Los Angeles Dodgers draft a high school shortstop to stash and develop for the future. Jordan Yost is the only player in the top 50 still on the board.

The 6-0 170 lb Jordan Yost had a .412 batting average, 48 runs, 42 hits, 26 RBI's, 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 4 home runs in 2025. Jordan Yost also had 28 stolen bases, a .984 fielding percentage, and 12 double plays at Sickles High School in Tampa Bay, Florida in 2025.

  23. Cleveland Indians: Henry Ford, 1B, Virginia

Cleveland gets their first baseman with this compensation pick. Henry Ford was a guy that I mocked to Cleveland in the first round back in February, now he falls to Cleveland in my final MLB Mock.

    The 6-5 225 lb Henry Ford had played in 61 games as a freshman with a .336 batting average, 60 runs, 85 hits, 151 total bases, 13 doubles, 1 triple, 17 home runs, 69 RBI's, 3 stolen bases, a .409 on base percentage, and a .993 fielding percentage as a freshman in 2024. Henry Ford had a .362 batting average, 42 runs, 75 hits, 119 total bases, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 11 home runs, 46 RBI's, 4 stolen bases, a .420 on base percentage, a .575 slugging percentage, and a .995 fielding percentage as a sophomore in 2025.

  24. Tampa Bay Rays: Ethan Conrad, LF, Wake Forest

The Tampa Bay Rays get a left fielder here. Ethan Conrad makes a lot of sense.

The 6-3 200 lb Ethan Conrad had a .389 batting average and 9 home runs at Marist. Ethan Conrad had a .372 batting average and 7 home runs at Wake Forest through the first month of the College baseball season before season ending elbow surgery in March. Some have him going as high to Cleveland at pick 27, but I think Ethan Conrad is a second round left fielder that a team can develop in their farm system.

  25. Milwaukee Brewers: Briggs McKenzie, P, Corinth Holders HS (NC)

Milwaukee drafts another pitcher. The 6-2 190 lb Briggs McKenzie hads a 95 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 90 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, and a 78 mile per hour hammer curveball which is already an MLB plus mitch and his signature pitch.

  26. Baltimore Orioles: Zach Strickland, P, Maranatha HS (CA)

Baltimore drafts a pitcher. Zach Strickland is one of the more consistent high school pitchers in the 2025 MLB Draft.

The 6-2 180 lb Zach Strickland went 8-0 as a junior in 10 starts with a 0.40 ERA with 88 strikeouts, 2 complete game shutouts and 1 no hitter in 10 starts in 2024. Zach Strickland went 6-0 as a senior in 10 starts with a 0.58 ERA, 48 innings pitched, and 86 strikeouts in 2025.

Zach Strickland had a 96 mile per hour 4-seam fastball a 95 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, a 79 mile per hour slider, 81 mile per hour changeup, and a 73 mile per hour curveball. Zach Strickland has five different pitches he can throw.

  27. Cleveland Indians: Michael Lombardi, P, Tulane

Cleveland drafts the top college reliever in the 2025 MLB Draft. Tulane pitcher Michael Lombardi is a reliever that has experience as a long reliever, middle reliever, set-up pitcher, and closer. Not only is Michael Lombardi the top reliever in this draft, he's also the top senior in College Baseball.

The 6-3 201 lb Michael Lombardi went 4-1 with 11 saves and a 2.14 ERA in 42 innings pitched with the Tulane Green Wave as a senior in 2025. Michael Lombardi had 1 game where he pitched 7 innings as a starter that he won, so he could be used as a substitute starter, but is much more effective as a relief pitcher.

Michael Lombardi has a 95 mile per hour 4-seam fastball that goes up to 97 out of the bullpen, a 93 mile per hour 2-seam fastball that goes up to 97 out of the bullpen, a a 78 per hour curveball that goes up to 81 out of the bullpen, and a 82 mile per hour changeup that goes up to 85 miles per hour out of the bullpen.

Michael Lombardi has played all four infielder spots outside of catcher. He also played center fielder. This versatility is impressive, but Michael Lombardi projects as a reliever in the MLB.

  28. Kansas City Royals: Korbyn Dickerson, CF, Indiana

Kansas City goes with the best player available. Korbyn Dickersonis a great value pick here.

The 6-1 205 lb Korbyn Dickerson had a .314 batting average, 57 runs, 76 hits, 77 RBI's, 14 doubles, 3 triples, 19 home runs, 5 stolen bases, and a .985 fielding percentage in 2025. Korbyn Dickerson's main position is center fielder, but he also has the versatility to move to right fielder if you need him to.

  29. St. Louis Cardinals: Maxx Williams, CF, Florida State

St. Louis drafts an outfielder. Maxx Williams has the versatility to play all three outfielder roles at left fielder, center fielder, and right fielder.

The 6-2 207 lb Maxx Williams had a .321 batting average, 47 runs, 75 hits, 53 RBI's, 9 doubles, 0 triples, 19 home runs, 2 stolen bases, and a .991 fielding percentage in 2025. Maxx Williams has the power and size to be a power hitter at center fielder.

  30. Pittsburgh Pirates: Nick Dumesnil, RF, California Baptist

The Pittsburgh Pirates draft a right fielder. Nick Dumesnil makes a lot of sense here.

    The 6-2 210 lb Nick Dumesnil had a .333 batting average and a 1.000 fielding percentage in limited action as a freshman in 2023. Nick Dumesnil had a .362 batting average, 61 runs, 85 hits, 19 doubles, 2 triples, 19 home runs, 45 RBI's, 9 stolen bases, a .702 slugging percentage, and a a .987 fielding percentage as a sophomore in 2024. Nick Dumesnil had a .360 batting average, 53 runs, 86 hits, 57 RBI's, 21 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs, 27 stolen bases, and a .985 fielding percentage as a junior in 2025.

  31. Colorado Rockies: Justin Lamkin, P, Texas A&M

The Colorado Rockies need pitching in the worst way possible. Justin Lamkin is another pitcher for Colorado in the late second round.

The 6-4 210 lb Justin Lamkin went 5-7 at Texas A&M with a 3.42 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 2025. He did pitch all nine innings against Georgia in his second to last start posting a complete game shutout.

Justin Lamkin has a 93 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 91 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, a 81 mile per hour slider, and a 80 mile per hour changeup. Justin Lamkin has enough talent to develop into a number two starter on the Colorado Rockies.

  32. Boston Red Sox: Jared Spencer, P, Texas

Boston drafts another starting pitcher to round out this rotation. Jared Spencer is the best pitcher on the board in the second round.

The 6-3 210 lb Jared Spencer went 4-1 with a 3.27 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings pitched in 2025. Jared Spencer is a senior and was the best starting pitcher among seniors before injuring his shoulder in April where he underwent season ending surgery.

Jare Spencer has a 96 mile per hour 4-seam fastball, a 93 mile per hour 2-seam fastball, a 88 mile per hour slider, and a 85 mile per hour changeup. Jared Spencer was working his way towards the first round before his shoulr blew out.
