After Duffy got a double, Brandon Belt would record a double. This put the Giants up 5-2 in the bottom of the third after Jake Peavy got off to a very sluggish start.
Buster Posey the biggest star on the Giants got a ground out that ended this momentum. Hunter Pence lined out by hitting the ball towards left fielder Jayson Werth. Still getting 6 batters on base and producing 5 runs as a result is a very big deal.

The Giants' inflicted so much damage in the bottom of the third, that long reliever Tanner Roark came in to replace Gio Gonzalez.
Peavy had to feel very confident about that heading into the fourth inning. He pitched two more scoreless innings before the Giants scored three more runs.
San Francisco led 9 to 2 at the end of the fifth inning. The Giants won 12-6 mainly due to their six runs they posted in the bottom of the third inning.
