Memphis Grizzlies 2017 Season Preview
The Grizzlies have Marc Gasol at center. This team has good pieces around Gasol, but needs to take that next step.
Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Posted on 3/6/2016.
Memphis has point guard Mike Conley Jr., power forward Zach Randolph, and center Marc Gasol all return.
Mike Conley Jr. averaged 17.2 points per game in 2013-2014, but he only averaged 15.8 points per game in 2014-2015. Mike Conley Jr. has to step up in 2015-2016.
The front court will dominate on both ends. Zach Randolph averaged 16.1 points per game at power forward and center Marc Gasol averaged 17.4 points per game in 2014-2015 in his contract year.
Last season, the Grizzlies had a huge concern at shooting guard. Courtney Lee averaged 10.1 points per game.
The only starter on this roster that stinks is shooting guard Tony Green. Green averaged 9 points per game.
Memphis has three small forwards in Jeff Green, Matt Barnes, and Tony Allen. It is uncertain which guy starts, but all 3 will do an awesome job on defense. Green is the teams best scorer, but Allen took his job before underperforming on offense.
Memphis will have one of the best defenses in the NBA once again. That defense will get them to the 2016 NBA Playoffs. I got the Grizzilies as 6 seed facing the 3 seed Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder will need to suffer a serious injury in order for Memphis to win, because I do not see the Grizzlies beating an Oklahoma City Thunder team at full health with Kevin Durant in a contract year. I do believe Memphis will push Oklahoma City to seven games though.
