2015 NFL Mock Draft: 7 Rounds
Round 1 Picks 17-32
Posted By Jesse Lucas Last Updated: April 21, 2015.
San Diego Chargers: La'El Collins, G, LSU
- San Diego signed Orlando Franklin. My problem with the signing is that they gave him a 5-year deal only to plug him in at right guard. If the Chargers feel Franklin is a right guard then they have to draft Collins as a left guard here.
Previous Pick: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
Kansas City Chiefs: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
- The Chiefs could’ve used some more fire power on offense last season. A speedy wide out that can really explode of the line of scrimmage is what they get with DeVante Parker.
Cleveland Browns: Danny Shelton, DT, Washington
- Phil Taylor is only a 2 down nose tackle. Danny Shelton is a 3 down nose tackle. Plus the thought of having Shelton and Taylor rotate snaps in this lineup will make Cleveland one of the NFL's best run defenses.
Previous Pick: Rashad Greene, WR, Florida State
Philadelphia Eagles: Gerod Holliman, S, Louisville
- Philadelphia's biggest need is on secondary. Gerod Holliman led the NCAA with 14 interceptions at free safety. Time for Holliman to leave the Cardinals to soar with he Eagles.
Previous Pick: Cody Prewitt, S, Ole Miss
Cincinnati Bengals: Randy Gregory, DE, Nebraska
- The Bengals could use another pass rusher. I get that you gave Michael Johnson a one year deal at right end. Gregory could come in as a substitute at defensive end or outside linebacker on third down situations as a pass rusher. The Bengals will look past Gregory getting busted for weed and will get a steal here.
Previous Pick: Eric Kendricks, MLB, UCLA
Pittsburgh Steelers: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
- The rich get richer. The Steelers need a cornerback. Trae Waynes is the top corner in the entire draft and he's still available.
Previous Pick: T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh
Detroit Lions: Laken Tomlinson, G, Duke
- As of right now it looks like the Lions might keep Suh in the off-season, even if that means getting rid of Calvin Johnson. As long as that stays the same the Lions should look to build up their O-line.
Arizona Cardinals: Malcolm Brown, DT, Texas
- Now that Dan Williams is gone, the Cardinals need a new nose tackle. Malcolm Brown is the top nose tackle left.
Previous Pick: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State
Carolina Panthers: Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami FL
- The Panthers need nothing more than to protect Cam Newton. Injuries on and off the field have defined his career in the NFL so far. Some of those can’t be helped but the Panthers need to get rid of the one’s that can.
Previous Pick: Jeremiah Poutasi, OT, Utah
Baltimore Ravens: Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State
- Steve Smith is about to retire and Torrey Smith is with the 49ers. Time to bring in another target for Joe Flacco. Strong made some acrobatic catches against Notre Dame. He also caught a touchdown in double coverage against Alex Carter and Jordan Richards in a game against Stanford. Strong has the tape of a first round pick.
Previous Pick: Dante Fowler, DE, Florida
Dallas Cowboys: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
- The Cowboys need a running back now that Todd Gurley is gone. Dallas cannot pass on Gurley at this pick.
Previous Pick: Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State
Denver Broncos: Hroniss Grasu, C, Oregon
- The Denver Broncos select Hroniss Grasu because they need a center. Many believe Cameron Erving is the top center in this years draft. After watching the tape, I agree with Chris Ransom that Grasu is a slightly better center than Cameron Erving.
Previous Pick: Sammie Coates, WR, Auburn
Indianapolis Colts: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State
- Imagine how good this secondary would be if you gave Vontae Davis a guy like P.J. Williams to work with. If the Colts got Williams they might finally be able to defeat the Patriots and get to Super Bowl 50. The key word is might.
Previous Pick: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
Green Bay Packers: Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State
- The Packers lost Tramon Williams to Cleveland. The Packers draft his replacement here.
Previous Pick: Denzel Perryman, MLB, Miami FL
New Orleans Saints: Nate Orchard, OLB, Utah
- The Saints need a pass rushing linebacker. Nate Orchard can play 4-3 defensive end, 4-3 outside linebacker, or 3-4 outside linebacker on either side. Orchard also had 18.5 sacks in 2014.
Previous Pick: Justin Hardy, WR, East Carolina
New England Patriots: Alex Carter, CB, Stanford
- Alex Carter did well down the stretch. Besides his tape against Arizona State and Oregon, Carter did a phenomenal job. USC had trouble getting the ball to Nelson Agohlor when Carter locked him down in coverage when Stanford faced USC. Carter has good tape and would make a great fit for the Patriots with Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner gone.
Previous Pick: Cameron Erving, C, Florida State
