Edmonton won games 1 and 4 in overtime after Florida blew an early lead. Florida controlled this series the rest of the way.
Florida Panthers first line right winger Sam Reinhardt had 4 goals in the deciding game 6 of this series in a 5-1 win over Edmonton. Florida is the first team to repeat since the Tampa Bay Lightning which is the other team in the state of Florida as both of those teams have 3 Stanley Cup Finals appearances and 2 Stanley Cup Finals wins this decade.
Last year Florida won the first three games of this series before Edmonton won the next three. Florida defeated Edmonton in 7 games last year. Florida did not have home ice in a single series all season and the only team that took the Florida Panthers to game 7 was the Toronto Maple Leafs thanks to Florida defeating Edmonton in 6 games in a rematch of last years Stanley Cup Finals. Florida's AHL team the Charlotte Checkers is playing the Abbotsford Canucks in the Calder Cup which is the AHL Championship too.
