2021 MLB Mock Draft: Final Mock Draft

Round 1 Picks 30-36

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: July 11, 2021.

  1. Cincinnati Reds: Will Taylor, CF, Dutch Fork HS (SC)

Will Taylor like Bubba Chandler is a first round prospect that may spurn a chance to play both quarterback and baseball at Clemson to go straight to the MLB. This is the category that Chandler was pegged in as the Reds get another outfielder to develop for the future by taking the best player on their board rather than drafting for need.

  2. Miami Marlins: Izaac Pacheco, SS, Friendswood HS (TX)

The Miami Marlins draft Izaac Pacheco the top prospect on the board. His arm and release isn't as quick as you would like it to be which is why he may move to third base.

The 6-4 210 lb shortstop is a power hitter who may have the upside of a five tool bat. Pacheco is the reason why Friendswood High School went 29-0 this season against High School baseball teams in the state of Texas.

  3. Detroit Tigers: Josh Hartle, P, Ronald Wilson Reagan HS (NC)

Detroit has a ton of pitching prospects in their farm system. Here they add one more in Josh Hartle who some have going in the top 25 with him being the best player on the board.

  4. Milwaukee Brewers: Luca Tresh, C, North Carolina State

The Brewers need more batters in this lineup. One position they can improve is catcher. Luca Tresh already has 11 home runs in his first season as a starting catcher for North Carolina State. He may be raw, but his upside is huge as he gives the Brewers a home run hitter at catcher.

  5. Tampa Bay Rays: Gunnar Hoglund, P, Ole Miss

Tampa Bay gets the best player on the board at 34. Gunnar Hoglund had more strikeouts on tape than Kumar Rocker at one point earlier in the season before having Tommy John's Surgery. Tampa Bay has a strong starting rotation so they can gamble on Gunnar Hoglund and his massive upside. Tampa Bay may eventually win a World Series if they hit on this pick with Hoglund.

Previous Pick: Will Bednar, P, Mississippi State

  6. Cincinnati Reds: Peyton Stovall, SS, Haughton HS (LA)

Peyton Stovall can play shortstop or second base with his versatility. His arm isn't as quick as you would like it to be, but he's got a great bat. I was originally going to mock him to the Oakland Athletics at 25 so this pick is a steal here.

  7. Minnesota Twins: Jaden Hill, P, LSU

The Twins draft Jaden Hill who moved from relief pitcher to starter in 2021. Jaden Hill was once a top 10 prospect before tearing his UCL. He may be limited to a bullpen role, but he's my final pick to end the first round in what looks to be an incredibly deep top 50 overall.
