Monteal took a 2-0 lead. It looked like Montreal would win in regulation.

Winnipeg found a way to tie this game. The contest went to overtime tied at 2-2.

Tyler Toffolli scored the game winning goal in overtime. Cole Caufield and center Nick Suzuki assisted the winger Toffoli with the game-winning goal. Montreal won 3-2 in overtime to get the series sweep after winning the first three games of this series.

Montreal is the first team among the second round winners to punch a ticket to the Conference Finals. Montreal will face the winner of the Vegas Golden Knights VS Colorado Avalanche series which is currently tied 2-2.

Montreal has won seven games in a row since losing game four to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the last round when they trailed that series 3-1 facing elimination. Montreal has also had the second longest lead among NHL teams in that stretch. Montreal had two other teams that finished in the top five in this statistic and both of those teams went on to win the Stanley Cup in 1960 and 1978.

Will this Canadiens team pull off that feat? We'll see, but it will be interesting to see how this team fares against Vegas or Colorado in the next round of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Conference Finals.
