Green Bay Packers Free Agency Recap

Green Bay got two big Free Agents Jimmy Graham at tight end and Muhamed Wilkerson at 3-4 right end. Tramon Williams rejoined the Packers too.

Green Bay Packers Draft Recap

The Packers traded down in the 2018 NFL Draft. They got two first round cornerbacks in Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson. Both cornerbacks are competing for playing time as well as starting cornerback spots. Jaire Alexander was the Packers first round pick out of Louisville. Josh Jackson out of Iowa was Green Bay's second round pick. Oren Burks their 2018 third round pick out of Vanderbilt is going to start at 3-4 middle linebacker with Jake Ryan injured and out for the season.

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Summary: Aaron Rodgers continues to play at a high level. Many consider him to be the best overall quarterback in the NFC and he's still regarded as the NFL"s best quarterback outside of Tom Brady. DeShone Kizer is now the backup to Aaron Rodgers for the next three years, plus Rodgers has been extended. Green Bay will continue to have continuity at quarterback for the next three years.

Head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti Jr. specialize in developing quarterbacks. Green Bay has continuity at quarterback and this should remain a huge strength for the Packers as long as Aaron Rodgers is healthy.

Green Bay Packers Running Back Summary: Green bay has Aaron Jones as their starting running back. Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery are backups. Jones got suspended the first two games for failing the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. Aaron Ripkowski remains the projected starter at fullback.

Running backs coach Ben Sirmans did an awesome job developing Todd Gurley as the Rams running back coach in 2015. Sirmans had similar success with Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Summary: Green Bay has DaVante Adams as the flanker receiver with Randall Cobb complimenting him as a secondary receiver. . You also got Geronimo Allison as your slot receiver. David Raih got promoted to wide receivers coach this season.

Green Bay Packers Tight End Summary: Green Bay has Jimmy Graham as the starting tight end along with Lance Kendricks as their backup. You also have Marcedes Lewis as a third string tight end. Green Bay will probably use some two tight ends plus they have incredible depth at tight end. Brian Angelichio returns as tight ends coach with way more to work with in his third season.

Green Bay Packers Offensive Line Summary: Green Bay has David Bakhtiari starting at left tackle, Lane Taylor at left guard, Cory Linsley starting at center, and Bryan Bulaga at right tackle. Green Bay needs a starting right gaurd. The offensive tackles are pretty lethal though..

James Campen is Green Bay's offensive line coach. He's been with the Packers as their offensive line coach since 2007. Campen has one of the best pass blocking schemes when it comes to pass protection in the NFL.

Green Bay should have a top 5 offense in 2018. Aaron Rodgers got paid and most of their starters are back. I think this is a top 5 offense in points scored, total yards, passing yards, and a top 12 offense in rushing yards.

Green Bay Packers Defensive Line Summary: Green Bay has Muhamed Wilkerson at 3-4 right end, Mike Daniels at 3-4 left end, and Kenny Clark at 3-4 nose tackle. Clark should take up a lot of space as a 3 down nose tackle so it will be harder to run on Green Bay's run defense. Montravious Adams and Dean Lowry are great defensive ends for depth at 3-4 defensive end. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine specializes in developing defensive linemen. Jerry Montgomery is the new defensive line coach for the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay Packers Linebacker Summary: The Green Bay Packers have two pass rushers that can start at either 3-4 right outside linebacker or 3-4 left outside linebacker with Nick Perry and Clay Matthews. Blake Martinez will start at one of of the 3-4 middle linebacker spots with Oren Burks holding down the other spot. Green Bay has a strong linebacker core when healthy.

Winston Moss is an associate head coach for Green Bay who got promoted to assistant head coach. He's also the linebackers coach for the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay Packers Defensive Backs Summary: Green Bay is making Tramon Williams the field cornerback this season with Kevin King at boundary cornerback. Jaire Alexander is going to begin at nickel cornerback even though I believe he's Green Bay's best cornerback. Davon House is the dime cornerback. Josh Jackson is the quarter cornerback.

Kentrell Brice is pushing Morgan Burnett for the starting strong safety job with Morgan Burnett gone. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at free safety.

Joe Whitt Jr. is back to coach the cornerbacks. Darren Perry is back to coach the safeties.

The Green Bay Packers sucked on defense last year due to injuries. This is Green Bay's best defense since they won Super Bowl 45. I think Green Bay can be a top 10 defense in sacks, points allowed, total yards allowed, run defense, and pass defense in 2018.

Green Bay Packers Special Teams Summary: Mason Crosby is one of the leagues best kickers. Crosby is one of the leagues most reliable kickers when it comes to extra points. J.K. Scott is the starting punter for the Green bay Packers. Trevor Davis is the kick returner and punt returner on the Green Bay Packers. Special Teams coordinator Ron Zook did awful in College Football. He has done much better just focusing on Special Teams in the NFL.

Green Bay Packers Worst Case Scenario: The Green Bay Packers go 11-5. They fail to win the NFC North Division, but manage to do well enough to secure the final wild card spot in the NFC.

Green Bay Packers Best Case Scenario: Green Bay goes 15-1. They end up doing well enough to make Super Bowl 53 while getting home field in the NFC.

Green Bay Packers 2018 Projected Record (14-2): Green Bay had control of the NFC North until Aaron Rodgers got injured. Rodgers getting injured gave the Packers a much easier strength of schedule in 2018. I feel like the Packers are far and away the most complete team in the NFC. Not only do I have them going 14-2 and getting home field in the NFC, I also have Joe Buck's Man Crush Aaron Rodgers taking home MVP honors.

This is Green Bay's best defensive team since their Super Bowl 45 squad. Joe Philbin is also back at offensive coordinator for the first time since that team was put together.

I have the Packers winning this division at 14-2. Detroit went 10-6 and got my first wild card in the NFC.

Minnesota went 9-7 and got my second wild card, and the Chicago went 3-13 finishing last in the NFC North because I don't trust their quarterback or offensive line despite trading for Khalil Mack.

I gave Green Bay home field in the NFC. I have them beating Atlanta in the Divisional Round and the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game to get to Super Bowl 53. I think the talent to return to Super Bowl 53 is there. If Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson are not complimenting each other by Super Bowl Sunday then Tom Brady or Ben Roethlisberger could end up having a field day with the Packers secondary on Super Bowl Sunday. At the end of the day, this is the closest thing to a complete team in the NFC in my opinion.
