Packers News NFL: The Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in the best shape of his NFL career.

Green Bay Packers 2016 Season Preview

What I said about the Green Bay Packers in 2014: Green Bay will have Bryan Bulaga back at full health. You reloaded at wide receiver in the 2014 NFL Draft. Added Julius Peppers in Free Agency. B.J. Raji has the mammoth weight he displayed when the Packers won Super Bowl 45.

What I am saying about the Green Bay Packers in 2015: Last year I said the 49ers would defeat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Title Game back in the preseason. I was right about the Packers losing the NFC Title game, but I was wrong about who they lost to. Once the 2015 NFL Playoffs started you knew the Seattle Seahawks had a strong chance of returning to Super Bowl 49 with home field in the NFC Green Bay outplayed them for most of the 2015 NFC Championship, but Seattle stepped up in the final five minutes to win in overtime and keep their Super Bowl hopes alive.

What I am saying about the Green Bay Packers in 2016: This may be Green Bay's most complete roster since they won Super Bowl 45. I really like what the Packers have assembled this year.

Green Bay Packers Free Agency Recap

The Packers signed only one player during Free Agency. That player was Jared Cook.

Green Bay Packers 2016 NFL Draft Grades

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Summary: Aaron Rodgers returns as the starting quarterback after having 3,821 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 2015. Aaron Rodgers is the highest rated quarterback on Madden for the third year in a row as Rodgers has had the highest Madden rating for a quarterback in Madden 15, Madden 16, and now Madden 17. Brett Hundley is a great backup and Green Bay has great coaches when it comes to developing quarterbacks.

Head coach Mike McCarthy, assistant head coach Tom Clements, quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt all specialize in developing quarterbacks. All three coaches deserve a ton of credit developing Rodgers and Hundley will be a good starter in due time if he threw 8 passing touchdowns and 1 interception during the 2015 Preseason.

Green Bay Packers Running Back Summary: Eddie Lacy is looking to have a breakout year after losing all the weight he did. Backup James Starks and third string running back John Crockett provide excellent depth. Aaron Ripkowski is expected to replace John Kuhn at fullback.

Running backs coach Ben Sirmans did an awesome job developing Todd Gurley as the Rams running back coach in 2015. He may have similar success with Eddie Lacy if Lacy loses weight in 2016.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Summary: Green Bay has Jordy Nelson as the flanker receiver with Randall Cobb complimenting him as a secondary receiver. Cobb showed he could be a flanker last year. Davante Adams should be an effective slot receiver. Jared Abbrederis and T.Y. Montgomery provide quality depth at wide receiver.

Offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett is great at developing wide receivers. Luke Getsy had to work hard for two years as an offensive quality control coach, but has now finally earned a shot at wide receivers coach.

Green Bay Packers Tight End Summary: Richard Rodgers is still the #1 tight end on Green Bay's depth chart. Despite this the Packers went out and got Jared Cook in Free Agency. Green Bay may not have a very good tight ends coach, but they have quality depth at the position.

Green Bay Packers Offensive Line Summary: Green Bay has David Bakhtiari starting at left tackle, Josh Sitton starting at left guard, Cory Linsley starting at center, T.J. Lang at right guard, and Bryan Bulaga at right tackle. Green Bay also has incredible depth with rookie left tackle Jason Spriggs as the backup left tackle with Don Barclay as the backup right tackle with Kyle Murphy another rookie offensive tackle Green Bay drafted as a third string offensive tackle.

Green Bay has J.C. Tretter as a backup center. The Packers lack depth at the guard position which is why Josh Sitton is so important to this team in a contract year.

James Campen is Green Bay's offensive line coach. He's been with the Packers as their offensive line coach since 2007. Campen has one of the best pass blocking schemes when it comes to pass protection in the NFL.

Green Bay did worse than you expect them to on offense in 2015. The Packers ranked 15th in points per game, 23rd in total yards per game, 26th in passing yards per game, and 12th in rushing yards per game. Green Bay did not have Jordy Nelson at wide receiver last season. The offense should be much better in 2016.

Green Bay Packers Defensive Line Summary: Green Bay has Mike Pennell at 3-4 right end, Mike Daniels at 3-4 left end, and Kenny Clark at 3-4 nose tackle. Clark should take up a lot of space as a 3 down nose tackle so it will be harder to run on Green Bay's run defense. Datone Jones is a 3-4 left end for depth that Green Bay has. Mike Trgovac will improve the Packers defensive line as this is his best defensive line since 2010 when the team had a healthy Cullen Jenkins and B.J. Raji.

Green Bay Packers Linebacker Summary: The Green Bay Packers have two pass rushers that can start at either 3-4 right outside linebacker or 3-4 left outside linebacker with Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews. Jake Ryan will start at one of of the 3-4 middle linebacker spots. Rookie Blake Martinez out of Stanford is pushing Sam Barrington for the other 3-4 middle linebacker spot.

Winston Moss is an associate head coach for Green Bay. He's also the linebackers coach for the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay Packers Defensive Backs Summary: Damarious Randall was a boundary cornerback last season. He's going to be a #1 field cornerback this season after being a 2015 first round pick with Sam Shields complimenting him at boundary cornerback after being a field cornerback in 2015. Green Bay also Morgan Burnett at strong safety and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at free safety.

Quinten Rollins is the teams nickel cornerback after the Packers lost Casey Heyward. Rollins was the teams dime cornerback as a rookie. Demetri Goodson goes from being a quarter cornerback in 2015 to a dime cornerback in 2016. Micah Hyde is a good backup free safety.

Green Bay may not have the best secondary coaches. Defensive coordinator Dom Capers knows how to develop defensive backs as well as linebackers.

The Green Bay Packers were okay on defense. The Packers finished 8th in the NFL with 43 sacks, 12th in points allowed, 15th the NFL in total yards per game, 6th in pass defense, and 21st in the NFL in run defense. The pass rushing and sacks should improve. I also think drafting Kenny Clark improves the run defense. Green Bay should have a middle of the pack defense with top 10 potential in 2016.

Green Bay Packers Special Teams Summary: Mason Crosby is one of the leagues best kickers. He went 24/28 and made 100 percent of extra points in 2015. Crosby is one of the leagues most reliable kickers when it comes to extra points. Tim Masthay is an okay punter. Green Bay needs better return specialists. Special Teams coordinator Ron Zook did awful in College Football. He has done much better just focusing on Special Teams in the NFL.

Green Bay Packers 2016 Projected Record (15-1): I love Green Bay's schedule most of their games against tough opponents are at home. The only game I see them losing is the week 2 game in Minnesota.

The Green Packers go 15-1 and get home field. Arizona Cardinals go 12-4 and gets the other first round bye. Carolina won the NFC South with a 10-6 record. The New York Giants were the only team in the NFC East with a winning record at 9-7 as the other three teams went 7-9. Seattle secured the first wild card at 11-5.

The Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tied for the final wild card at 9-7. Both teams went 3-3 against divisional opponents. Minnesota went 3-1 against AFC South teams making them 6-6 against NFC Teams. Tampa Bay went 2-2 against AFC West teams making them 7-5 against NFC teams giving them the final wild card over the Vikings meaning they would go to Carolina.

I'd love to see Tampa Bay go into Carolina and knock off the Panthers. Something tells me they are not ready yet. Seattle should defeat the 9-7 Giants as well.

Seattle goes to Green Bay to face the Packers. Home field is the difference as Green Bay wins a close game. The Arizona Cardinals finally exact revenge on the Carolina Panthers in the NFL Playoffs and return to the NFC Championship game.

Arizona faces Green Bay for the NFC Championship. Arizona has problems adapting to the cold weather as Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers return to Texas for another Super Bowl after winning their first championship in Dallas. This Super Bowl would be in Houston.

I had the Packers going to Super Bowl 50 to lose to the Indianapolis Colts last year. I was wrong on that, but I like Green Bay's odds a lot better now that Jordy Nelson is fully healthy.

A Super Bowl 51 matchup between the Patriots and Packers would mark the 20th anniversary of Super Bowl 31 where the Packers defeated the Patriots 35-21. Also if Roger Goodell doesn't want to give Tom Brady the Lombardi Trophy they will over inflate the footballs for Super Bowl 51. Remember Tom Brady likes his footballs under inflated and Aaron Rodgers likes his footballs over inflated. If the Packers beat the Patriots convincingly and the NFL finds out the balls were over inflated it would lead to an Inflate Gate investigation where the Packers could land in hot water possibly Roger Goodell too.

I don't think the league is that shady, but you never know. The Packers did beat the Patriots in the regular season the last time these two teams met when the Patriots ended up winning Super Bowl 49. That's why I think Green Bay would have the advantage if they drew the Patriots in the biggest game of the year.
